Current mood:  angsty
well been a very long time since i blogged...  going to john butler in a bit over a week (and suddenly reminded of this blog,,,, funny that)...
i'm on summer holidays, quit my job in favor of a new one, working in disability support and really loving it, there is a lot of protocol and paperwork to bash your head against, but the people i am working for are really ethically aware and progressive, so it is pretty exciting to get in on the ground dloor of such a new company (not for profit too)... got a couple shifts left at old garden shoppe.,,, glad to be outta there, they have been great, but it is so nice to have a job to get my teeth into...
d is moving to melbourne which is nice for her horrible for me (lol) poor me... back at uni in a few weeks, new job is settling down now as people are back from holidays etc. mmmm i ran outa steam for this post... bye!

ok so it is 1.47 am and i have to go to work way too soon, but i had to get this down or i won't sleep.
after a week that can only be described as way to mortal, with two people close to home in cancer treatment, and another two dead, and my first week working at a (dementia specific) nursing home, it has been totally full on
but
d and i went to see john butler and aprox 5 hours after we left we got to festival hall (tire blew out and we got the jack on and the nuts out, but the wheel was jammed on so we had to wait the 2 hours for the racv, then head home to change cars (damn space-saving tires)
we arrived in our seats just as their first song was finishing (so sorry we missed josh pike) and i was immediately disappointed, damn i thought i had built it up too much in my head and now i was gunna be bored (hey on prozac, doesn't take much to bore me) but fuck what an idiot i am
OH MY GOD
i think john butler wrote a new gospel just for me
well
i was realising that this feeling of disappointment was exactly the way i always felt when i travelled, build the experience up so much that i am just so damn disappointed when i get there and i am still me (and you know, not morphed into the new hybrid olivia from the fantasy). it  is so rare that i am then able to get comfortable enough (with myself being there) to fully enjoy the experience.
well john did it for me
i couldn't work out how until after when my friend said that it is like john, the band or the music just looks you straight in the eye and says that you're ok, and so it is true.
awsome
the drummer is second to none (in this universe) and the bassist is amazing (and white double bass to die for), and every word john utters is like gold to me, not to mention that i could listen to that voice forever, but when that man plays the guitar solo and acustic i found myself wishing that he would go on like that forever.
ok so i had a good night

and my faith is restored in humanity
thanks JB3

oh my god i haven't been this knackered in a long time, i feel like i have been holding on for that little bit of extra energy for weeks. anyway the last ditch effort last night was totally worth it, went to see John Butler and though the sound was bad where we were standing and we couldn't really see the man himself it would be way up there on the scale of spiritually satisfying experiences, god they're good.
taking a couple of days over easter to relax, besides working tomorrow then it's head in books for the rest of the break.
friend coming over tonight who's dad just died so trying to muster energy to be as helpful as possible, guess i can't really help.
got to meet a two month old wombat yesterday, so yes spiritually satisfiying all round.
