One of the themes that has emerged from last week's tragic events is that we have to focus on good of the people who were lost.  And, focus on healing and continuing on with good prevailing.  I was really impressed when I heard an interview with one of the survivors from Columbine.  He lost his sister Rachel and now he and his father have created a nonprofit foundation to end violence in schools.  Their website is www.rachelschallenge.com

This is inspiring work!  They are saving lives every day and I was so in awe to see how they turned a complete tragedy into this amazing organization.

I was just reading a newspaper Ad for Home Depot and in honor of Earth Day they are giving away a million or more of the eco-friendly light bulbs.  What a great idea!  Just that action will have a huge impact on the environment.  These are the simple things that we can do to start making a difference today!

Once again the media is filled with images of complete tragedy and devastation with the recent events at Virginia Tech.  So, what can you do?  Many schools across the country are showing their support thru candle vigils.  Many of the media outlets also point out during this darkest hour we also see the greatest good.  Many lives were saved by the bravery and quick thinking of others.  And, it is thru our reaching out to each other that we will rise above this.  What are your thoughts? What are kids at your school doing?

I'm becoming very concerned about the future of our planet and resources.  Have you seen any of the Planet Earth series about the shrinking icebergs in Antartica and what this is doing to Polar Bears, penguins, and many other animals.

I know you've probably heard alot about it..but I think there are a few really simple things each of us can do, to start making a dramatic difference in our world and environment.

Check out these two awesome sites!

It's that time of year.  Spring Break.  Whether you are fortunate enough to go somewhere or not, this is a great time to do something special for yourself.  Rejeuvate, regroup, and just kick back.  Even if you can't go anywhere on your break, pick 2-3 things you can do that are out of the norm that are fun for you.  This doesn't have to be complicated!  Pick up a some new magazines you love, get a pedicure, go to a new store, do something different, go to a movie you're wanting to see. . Post your ideas here or on www.girlswithdreams.com

Current mood:wondering

So, there was this new government report that came out this week talking about the severity of underage drinking.  That doesn't surprise me?  Does it surprise you?  What I'm trying to understand are the whys...one theory they threw out there is that there is more media advertising alcohol.  That can't be the only reason is it?

I wanted to know, what do you think about this?  The teens you know who are underage drinking?  Why are they doing it?

I recently sent out a survey to our Girls With Dreams mailing list.  We'll be sharing more of the info on our website, but it has been very interesting to read.  What do you think is the number one problem teen girls face?  The respondents on our survey said boys.  Got an opinion?  We'd love to hear it!
