hello fugitives!

things have been as hectic as they can be for us in the past week, but things are finally starting to smooth out and we finally have some news for yall.

it has been really hard finding people to fill the spots of matt and jon but i think that we finally have the new band lineup that we are satisfied with, and to be honest it is more than we ever could have expected.

we feel that it is the best lineup we have ever had and we are extremely excited about what the future hold for us and our new brothers.

the new lineup will be announced on oct. 10 "the underground meltdown" which will take place @ the coup in clarksville, tn.

you will not want to miss this event, it spans two days and showcases some of the best bands in mid. tn. right now.

i hope to see many of you there!!!

-thanks for everything.

hello fellow fugitives,.

it deeply saddens me to say that matt whittenberg is no longer a member of toby the fugitive.
matt is about to embark a journey with the arrival of his child in oct. which  requires his full attention and we both feel that the band may be more of a distraction than anything..
there was no haste in this split, he will always reamain our brother and it kills us to have to make this decision, but both parties felt this was the best decision for the band.

also, due to some musical differences, jon martin will no longer be playing bass for us.
jon is an amazing musician and any band would be gaining a huge asset by taking him in,  he just does not fit in with the direction we are taking our music and our career and at this oint we have decide to part ways.

so needless to say, we are auditioning drummers and bass players so if you think you got what it takes to play for toby the fugitive, send us a message on here listing some of your influences, your age, a picture of yourself, gear list and tell us why you would be good fit for toby the fugitive.

thanks so much for your support.

im sure that some of you have realized by now that only two of us are listed on the page.

we are going through some changes, we can not elaborate too much at this time, but keep checking the space and we will explain everything in the near future.

thanks

Toby The Fugitive is a four piece band out of Clarksville, Tennessee that has neither a Toby nor a fugitive, but does have a whole lot of awesome. Although the band draws heavily on pop-punk tropes, the end product is a highly stylized rock album that has been stripped of most of the overwhelming sentimentality that has defined pop-punk lately.

On first listen, it would be easy to ignore the truly outstanding musical work and focus almost entirely on Casey Carstens' vocals. The opening track, "Lab Rat," is delivered with so much intensity the lyrics are almost incomprehensible. On the rest of the album Carstens dials it back a bit, but even on Proxima Distort's slowest song ("Demi Moore") the vocals emphasize style and intensity over melodic conventions. The album is split by the title track, "Proxima Distort," an instrumental piece a bit too long and way too aggressive to be a called an interlude. The song gives the rest of the band a chance to take over for a bit and show off. I'm the wrong person to really analyze guitar and percussion work, but the sound is definitely bigger than a band this size has any right to. Despite the album's stripped down feel, the arrangements are quite complex.

Standout tracks are "Burning Bridges," and "Description Of Sadness"

Our Upcoming Full-length cd "Proxima Distort" was commented on by John M. James over on Anchorage Press last Wednesday. Here's what he said:

"Toby the Fugitive—Proxima Distort (Chamberlain) young band from Clarksville, Tennessee, pining with clenched fists in the album's closer, 'Demi Moore'"
