ISBN: 0738533270
Blurb - This book looks at the people and history of NIXA, MISSOURI and its surrounding rural Christian County communities of Sparta, Billings, Linden, Clever, Highlandville, and the rural area around Bull Creek. The area was originally known as Faughts, for James Jasper Faught, who had operated a trading post at the old "Crossroads" site in 1879. It linked the burgeoning settlement of Nixa to other communities in the area. Nicholas Alexander Inman came from Tennessee in 1852 and opened a blacksmith shop with Joe Weaver. Inman's family farm consisted of 160 acres, which are part of the present day boundaries of Nixa. Nixa was officially incorporated as a village on June 10, 1902.

OZARK (Images of America: Series)
Korgis-Fitzpatrick, Michelle
128 pp, History
Paperback
Arcadia Publishing
$19.99, plus S&H (PayPal)
ISBN: 0738533118
Blurb - The name Ozark comes from the French Aux Arcs. The town of Ozark may have gotten its name because it is at the bend of the creek. Today the term Ozark refers to the large upland region that covers parts of Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. Ozark, Missouri is nestled in the hills of this region and serves as the county seat of Christian County. This book looks at Ozark's 150-year history, using vintage photographs from the Pegram Collection to capture the spirit of the town and surrounding areas. Ozark has long prided itself on its hospitality, and that is evident here in the images of people, events, schools, railroads, and more that have made Ozark the warm and friendly town it is today.

Ida Mae
Thornton, Delores
347 pp, Fiction
Paperback
Marguerite Press
ISBN: 096565849X
$14.95
Blurb - Poignant and touching to the end "Ida Mae began life roughly. Her father is murdered, her mother dies and her adoptive parent die by the time she is 17. But Ida Mae had what a lot of folks don't have nowadays---survival skills. She took what life meted out and turned it into something good. But the saddest part to me is, she loved so freely yet died alone... Ida Mae is worth every penny I spent for it. I loved it!" ~Sydney Molare - sydneymolare.com
