New single 'Big Trapeze'.

The big-top energy of The Tiger and Me ignites on new single Big Trapeze, representing the culmination of the band's growth from sweet duo to raucous five-piece, with a wink and a nod to the old cabaret den and speakeasy tradition.

Free download!

We've decided to give our new single out as a free download to anyone who signs up to the mailing list. We're just those kinds of tigers. Follow the link link below. Send your friends there, hell, send your enemies, I've got no issue with them, that's between the two of you to sort out.

With the impending release of the single from our debut album looming large, we thought it was high time we updated our press photos. As beautiful as our old press photos are, they tend to suggest 'folk-duo' rather than the, um, 'cabaret/gypsy/folk five-piece' (?) that we've become, so they were somewhat misleading. Thankfully, Tim Allan, the photographer the first time around, has recently re-entered the southern hemisphere and was available to shoot us (photographically).
I will now take this opportunity to plug his work, he did a brilliant job and we couldn't be happier. If you're looking for a designer or photographer then check out his website here. I recommend the shit out of him.
That is all for now.
Check out the photos - they're on this site.
Yeah.

We're pleased to announce that our new drummer is none other than Ms Sarah Galdes.

If you weren't one of the 350 people at her debut show (I apologised to her for such a poor turnout...) then get along to one soon to see the new tiger in action.

Sarah enjoys stamp collecting, competitive jousting, helping the librarian put the books back into alphabetical order, falconry, and Belgium.

Norway so help me god you better stay away from our drummer this time you oil-farming socialist icemen. Henceforth all Norwegians are banned from gigs, and I am working on the Government to keep them all out of the country. Northland thieves. Bah.

Howdy,

The Tiger and Me has been chosen from thousands of bands as one of the Top 50 in uncharTED, a competition that sees the winner get a spot at Splendour In The Grass plus a band development package worth $25k. The field is narrowed to 10 next, with 6 being by public vote and 4 by media picks. We really want to play at Splendour In The Grass a lot. So help us get there! It's free to sign up and free to vote, and you can vote once every hour. Think of that! Just follow the link below.

http://www.uncharted.com.au/bands/bandDetails.do?band.id=84642

Thanks for voting.

If we win 25k we will have a big party and you're all invited. We may even call it an album launch...

Also, for the more hardcore of you out there, now that our website is up and sweet (thanks Big Friendly Apes, they're really very friendly those apes), we're getting more interactive with it. We'll be doing free passes to gigs and the like in the future. For starters we're putting up a tune here and there that has been previously unreleased for some reason - EP B-sides, some live recordings etc. There are various feeds that can be subscribed to and possibly some saucy pictures of Tobes wearing just a hat and accordion. Go to www.thetigerandme.com.au for more fun.

Friends, Romans, Countrytigers.

I thought I should probably explain our apparent complete disappearance from shows and life in general. We’re taking a few months off to record our first LP. Bass and drums are done and dusted, recorded at Newmarket Studios and sounding very swish. We’re now in the overdubs and tinkering process that will hopefully finish up in a month or so, aiming for a mid-year launch.

We’re playing very few shows during this period. We have a party gig this Saturday 2nd at The Fox Hotel, which is more of a get together to wish drummer Paul and his girlfriend Rani the best on their impending departure to the Northland. The lineup is mostly bands he’s played in, along with some friends’ bands. He’ll be hitting the skins with said bands he’s played in for one last time, and it should be a pretty loose and riotous evening. We’re sans-Tim our bass player for the evening, so we have Gabe from Plastic Palace Alice filling in on electric. Anything could happen. Probably good things I imagine.

Approximate lineup is

5:00 - The Nymphs

5:45 - Dylan Young

6:30 - The Tiger and Me

7:15 - Nicola Watson

8:00 - Tobias Cummings: Band

8:45 - Brendan Welch + Band

We also have a gig on May 29 as part of Friday Night Fire. Hundred Fire Management is booking the last Friday of every month at The Edinburgh Castle, and we’re up in May with Cilla Jane and Fee Brown and The Highwater. Hundred Fire was responsible in part for the huge success that was The Phoenix Bushfire gigs so these evenings should be very good.

Okay that is all for now,

Goodnight, and good luck.

Mailout posing as a blog:

_______________

Hello there.

My name is Ade Vincent, and I'm a musician. It's been 12 days since my last gig, and going strong.

However.

The Tiger and Me are headlining at Wesley Anne tomorrow night (Friday). Get
there early to see Jed Pickett's outrageous moustache light up the
stage and possibly your life, before Dan Lethbridge and his Campaigners
take you on.

On Sunday, we're very happy to be a part of The Phoenix Bushfires
Appeal. A few weeks ago, our manager Tim Burke put out the call to any
artists to be involved in a fundraiser for the bushfire appeal. The
response was overwhelming, and has seen him join forces with a couple
of other organisers to put together The Phoenix Appeal: an umbrella
host for some of the biggest concerts on the day around Melbourne.
Eight venues with one cause, including the East Brunswick Club, Wesley Anne,
Edinburgh Castle, The Empress Hotel, The Curtin Bandroom, The Old Bar,
Manchester Lane, Northcote Social Club and in conjunction with The
Corner Hotel Bush Fire Benefit, featuring a mountain of great acts.
Check out www.myspace.com/phoenixappeal
for who is playing where at what time - I've listed some of the artists
involved below. Congratulations to Tim for this initiative and I urge
everyone to get involved - all profits from ticket sales and donations
will go to the Red Cross Bush Fires Appeal.

Artists performing include: Clare Bowditch,
Skipping Girl Vinegar, Lamplight, Jeff Lang, Jordie Lane, The
Wellingtons, Dan Lethbridge and the Campaigners, The Tiger And Me, The
Vandas, Owls Of The Swamp, Clinkerfield, Simon Wright, The Hazelman
Brothers, Monique Brumby, Sime Nugent, First Time Hookers, Gareth
Eunson, David Cosma, Tom Woodward, International Karate, Blackchords,
Tracy McNeil, the Idle Hoes, Tim Cannon, Young Werther, the Sand
Pebbles, Pony Face, Lydia Phillips, Alaska Ratio, Tobias Cummings, Cash
Savage, Ryan Sterling, Faye Blais, Jessica Paige, Lindsay Phillips, Tim
McMillan, Spun Rivals, Cilla Jane, Sam Niedra, Lady Grey, Nick Styles,
Faye Blais, Major Chord, Radiant City, the Box Rockets Rosie Burgess,
Plastic Palace Alice, The Bedroom Philosopher, Jona Byron Duo and many
more, including just announced, Jens lekman will be special guest DJ at
The East Brunswick Club!

If you're planning on coming to Wesley Anne but you've never been before,
just make sure you go to High St NORTHCOTE. I played a gig there a
while ago and a friend rang me just before the show saying she couldn't
find it. She was in Prahran. It's okay she's from New Zealand.

New Zealanders.

Honestly.
