Hi all,
After a few months of work and study, music is on the rise again. We're working on a demo of new songs for the myspace and will also have a new live recording available in November. I'll be playing some solo shows in the next month or two before we play at That Audio Guy's industry showcase where we will be sharing the stage with Lloyd Spiegel and many other talented performers.
Hope to see you soon!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped support the Phoenix Bushfire Benefit gig on March 1st. This benefit was a huge success, and we were so grateful to be a part of it at a time when we are all trying to work out how we can help. A whopping $42,000 was donated to the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal.
A big thank you to Tim Burke from Hundred Fire Management for including us and for coordinating the stage at Manchester Lane.

Hey everyone, It's really great to see independent Aussie artists getting recognition in the Australian music industry, and the 2008 National MusicOz Awards are a particularly exciting initiative that give unsigned, local artists valuable support and promotion. My band and I have entered the awards for the first time this year, and we'd be really stoked if you would like to get behind us by voting for us in the People's Choice Award. All you have to do is send an SMS to 1970 8000 with the text "lydi" and a brief description (10 words or less) on why you think we should win. The SMS costs 55c including GST and the voter with the most creative description wins a Maton electric guitar valued at $1,500! Thanks for coming on the ride with us and supporting our music!

Well it's been too long since I reported on the music news. The last few months have been great fun playing acoustic solo and duo gigs with my wonderful guitarist Tim O'Donnell across town. Gigs of late have included The Retreat, Bar 303, The Drunken Poet, Edinburgh Castle and a radio interview on SYN FM with spunky singer-songwriter Mezz Coleman. Tim and I also played Caz Reitops in March, supporting South Australia's talented duo The Yearlings. Caz Reitops is a funky little venue in an intimate, bluestone cellar, and The Yearlings were fabulous - their guitar work is sensational and the harmonies lovely. Very lovely people, too - we hope to catch them again in Vic or SA soon. The next few weeks see us playing The Brunswick Hotel and The Empress before some changes mid-year. Thanks to everyone for checking in, coming along to gigs or saying hi through myspace. Catch you on the flipside.

Hey people, After a fun January gigging with some fabulous Aussie female singer-songwriters (including Emma Dean, Lady Grace, Rosaline Yuen and Mezz Coleman) I'm taking February to finish some new songs before March rolls around with a string of solo and band gigs - including an acoustic gig supporting the incredible roots/folk duo The Yearlings which I'm really excited about. There are more gig details coming - in the meantime, thanks to everyone who came to see us play in January, and hope to see you all next month! Lydia

Hey everyone,
Happy New Year! Hope you saw in 2008 with some good friends and good music. After a busy few weeks, I'm back at the music thing and the band and I have some exciting gigs to kick off the new year. We're playing the Cornish Arms next Fri 18th Jan, then returning to Manchester Lane on Sun 27th Jan (Australia Day long weekend) to support Brisbane's Emma Dean on her tour. February will see us hitting some new venues to visit some more of you people in different parts of town. The compilation CD - Acoustika Vol 8 - has been released in the US, and for all the Aussies it's now available to purchase on Amazon.com if you don't feel quite up to a 22 hr plane flight (no hard feelings). There are some fabulous artists featured on the CD from all corners of the globe so make sure you get your hands on a copy.
Thanks to everyone who supported us in 2007 through our EP release, and hope to catch you this year because there's lots of new music to come!
Lydia

Hey guys,
I've been involved in SPAN's musician self-management course over the last few months, a great local initiative that Claire Bowditch used to take, and is now headed up by Young Werther, a very talented local artist. The other singer-songwriters are also great people with some awesome originals so we're getting together this Sunday at Edinburgh Castle to showcase our music. Would love to see you there for a quiet drink at the weekend's end.
Details are:
Sun 9 Dec 7pm at Edinburgh Castle
Young Werther, Brendan David, Slim Jim Kane and Lydia Phillips
Entry with gold coin donation.
Cheers! Lydia

Hey people,
Thanks to everyone who came down to the East Brunswick Club for our EP launch on 18/10 and helped to make it such a rockin night!!! Thanks also to Simon Imrei for supporting us with his awesome acoustic/soul material. We were psyched with the turn-out and had a great time - hope you all did too.
The gig was filmed for the AHA awards and we also recorded the set so keep your ears out for live recordings of our new material which will be released and posted on the myspace page very soon.
Thanks again everyone and look forward to seeing you at another gig soon.
Lydia
