Hey everybody,

Hope you've enjoyed a very nice year since last we spoke.  This summer you can find Brian at the Transit Road Applebees every Monday night from 6:00-8:00 strolling from table to table performing close-up magic and mindreading.  Make sure you stop in for great food and fantastic entertainment!

Brian is currently booking up private parties for the summer, so if you have an event that needs that something special, make sure you get in touch as soon as possible:

Phone:  716-982-9510
Email: contact@brianmillermagic.com

We ensure that your event will be a huge hit while you get all the credit!

Also, Brian is offering private magic lessons on an individual basis this summer in lieu of running a summer camp.  Contact us via one of the aforementioned ways if you or someone you know is interested.

That's all for now!  Hope to see you at Applebees or elsewhere; enjoy this beautiful summer!

Hey everyone,

Hometown Oneonta posted a glowing critical review of my stage show - check it out here!

In other news, I will be taking a few months off of performing in order to dedicate my time more fully to a number of other facets of my business - creating, writing, teaching, preparing summer touring schedule, hosting a bi-monthly night of spoken word entertainment, etc - as well as schoolwork and outside research. I sincerely appreciate all of your continued support of my work and I hope you will continue to check in here and at my website www.brianmillermagic.com for new projects. Remember to check back in early May for updates on my summer schedule and potential tours.

Peace and love,

Brian

Hey everyone,

Summer is basically here and isn't that just a great thing? Unfortunately in Buffalo, NY it's an average of about 40 degrees. In any regard we just wanted to let you know what Brian's up to this summer and where you might catch one of his performances.

Firstly, the third installment in the Cards, Coins, Thoughts & Theories ebook series is due out in early June. Magicians can look forward to everything they have come to expect from Brian's work: strong, usable close-up pieces for workers written up in crystal clear instructions accompanied by full-color photos and links to performance videos online. Check back here in the next week or so for a possible pre-release special deal.

But the reason most of you are reading this blog in the first place is because you have seen one of Brian's incredible performances and you would like to see more, right? You can catch Brian strolling from table to table performing bits of close-up magic and mindreading at his regular summer Applebees locations:

Mondays 6:00-8:00 pm June 2 - August 18
5017 Transit Road
Williamsville, NY 14221

Saturdays 6:00-8:00 pm May 31 - August 16
1641 Niagara Falls Blvd
Amherst, NY 14228

There will be one more weekly Applebees location added to the schedule this summer, probably on Friday nights, but at the moment we do not know which one. Check back here the first week of June for an update.

Brian will also be designing and running a magic lessons portion of the Lancaster Youth Bureau's summer camp program. He'll be teaching as part of the camp on Wednesdays July 9 - August 6 from 11:10-12:05. At the moment we do not have information on how to sign up for this camp. Again, if you check back here the first week of June we should have an update on that as well.

As a result of Brian's successful performances at the International Brotherhood of Magicians' Ring 12 annual March Hare Ball and the Magician's Alliance of Western New York (MAWNY)'s annual magic convention, Brian has been invited to be a featured performer in the afternoon close-up and the evening stage show at the Central New York Magicfest this November in De Witt, NY.

Well, that's what is keeping us busy on this end. Hope you all have a brilliant start to your summer, and make sure to come out to Applebees to say hello and enjoy a great time. If you've seen one of Brian's performances, feel free to leave a comment to let others know about it!

And if you happen to run into Brian out and about around Buffalo or elsewhere this summer, go ahead and shout out "Hey Mr. Magic!" and you just might get treated to a quick trick.

That's all for now. Thanks for all your continued support.

Hey gang,

Got back late last night from MAWNY 2008 (Magician's Alliance of Western New York annual magic convention), and what a blast it was! The true value of the day was talking with other magicians. Among some of the names present were: Reed McClintock, Matthew Bich, Kozmo, Daryl, Garrett Thomas, and Richard Turner.

In addition to "names," I met a number of young magicians that showed a true passion for the art of magic and a desire to make it professional or semi-pro at some point in the future. Let me just say this: watch out for a young kid, 13 years old, by the name of Nick Lathrop. Holy Moses!

If there is one thing I learned from the convention, it is that we are all unique, individual performers with our own magic to offer. Very early in the day I was informed that for my three close up performances, I would be in fact following Richard Turner (The Cheat). For those of you who don't know his work, he's pretty much the world's greatest living card mechanic. Period. And I had to follow him three times. When I was first told of this, I nearly panicked for an hour. Of my ten minute set, I was planning on doing at least 6 minutes of cards. How could I possibly follow the greatest card mechanic in the world with cards? I finally snapped myself out of it and decided that I was going to get up, make a joke about the situation, and then go into my set just as I had planned. It worked marvelously.

At each of my three sets I have very kindly introduced as, "One of Buffalo's fastest rising stars." As the applause died down, I put my hand in the air and asked, "So...who else is ready to quit magic after watching that?" All three times it got wild laughter and totally broke the ice, simultaneously establishing me as an individual and a confident performer. I proceeded to have three wonderful sets, accompanied by many accolades from many magicians on my performance.

So just remember that it doesn't matter what anyone else is doing so long as you can establish yourself as a unique individual with something special to offer. Become your own brand and sell it!

That's all for now,

Brian

Loyal fans,

Brian here. It's been entirely too long since I posted some personal thoughts, or as I like to call them, random musings. Enjoy!

-I recently witnessed a beautiful "anti-sale". It was a commercial for some product. I don't know what the product was...because I didn't leave the TV on long enough to find out. The commercial started and all you could hear was the narrator's voice, "What if we all took a moment to rethink our lives?" Fine. *Click*

-Believe it or not, some people actually think that learning is a good idea. I'm not convinced. There are some things I'd rather not learn. Sometimes learning hurts. This morning I learned the difference between getting up and waking up. Apparently, they're not the same thing. That poor wall never saw me coming.

-Spend enough time in the toy section at Wal-Mart and you will start hallucinating about Monopoly. There's an entire wall of it! It's engulfing the rest of the store!!! Is it really necessary to have a Dora The Explorer Monopoly? Or Spongebob Squarepants? This year I'm half expecting to see a Celebrity Meltdown edition: Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, and Amy Winehouse on the cover. The one I'm waiting for though is Monopoly: The Cynical Edition. That would be great for us pessimists. Instead of starting off with $3500, you first have to pay off your entire mortgage. Also, there are no "Get Out of Jail Free" tickets included in this version, and of course every Chance Card reads, "DO NOT PASS GO!"

-I noticed the other day that I own 43 pairs of golf socks. I don't golf.

-The attitude of the typical magician pisses me off. How many times has a magician come on stage and said, "What I'm about to show you is something that can't be done."

Hello devoted fans (or those who just happened to stumble over here),

Just wanted to let you know what is going on here at Brian Miller Magic. Things have been crazy busy for Brian as he recently released his very first published work for sale to the magic community. It is a short Ebook titled "Cards, Coins, Thoughts & Theories (Part 1)" and is available from both
Elmwood Magic and Lybrary. If you are a magician, please feel free to go check it out. If you aren't a magician, please don't waste your time or money. Purchasing this Ebook will not reveal how Brian performs any of the magic you've likely seen him perform. Plus you wouldn't understand any of it, so there!

We would now like to give you the first official news about Brian's new show that some have invariably already heard rumors about: Brian has a new show! Okay, okay - the real news. Already nearly five months in progress, production of Brian's new show Fate is nearly finished. It is set to debut in Oneonta, NY at the Foothills Performing Arts Center on Friday, April 4th. You can read some preliminary details about Fate at
www.BrianMillerMagic.com/Fate.html (the page will be continually updated over the next few months, so check back every couple weeks).

Following the spring debut of Fate, Brian is planning a short summer tour of this exciting new show throughout New York State.

Also, the holiday season is coming up very quickly, and what better way to enjoy the magical season than with magic? For that reason, Brian will be returning to the Applebees locations in Buffalo, NY for a few weeks from mid December through mid January. The dates are not set quite yet, but as soon as we know what they are, the dates will be posted on Brian's MySpace. This is especially exciting for Brian since he has just returned for an eight week absence from performing in order to work on all of the projects you have just read about.

One more thing! After the holiday season, we are going to try very hard to start recording a monthly interactive video series to post on the MySpace. Brian is working on putting together a host of magic that can be done with you, the viewer, right through your computer screen. Hopefully the first video will be up in early February if all goes as planned. In the meantime, please enjoy a video of the rope routine from Comedy, Mentalism, Magic that has just been posted to the MySpace.

That's it for now. Thanks for reading and for your continued support of Brian Miller Magic.
