Since submitting the following article, Queen City Sound has been invited to compete in the 2008 Division A Harmony Classic! Congratulations from Region 25!
We were all sitting there in the Convention Center in Richardson, Tx. holding hands with each other waiting for the results of the Contest, when the Chairman of the Panel, Nancy Fields started calling off the names of the winners. There was no doubt in our minds whether we would get a medal, because on our door signs, along with our name, it said one word BELIEVE----- so we did. She started calling off the placements, third place, no that wasn't the one, then second place, that wasn't the one either. Did we dare to dream? By that time, we were squeezing each others hands so tight, our hands were all clammy and we listened to her next words which were, "with a score of 548, 1st place small chorus winners are QUEEN CITY SOUND." Well, from that moment, we all started to whoop and holler, hug each other and cry and I heard Queen Sandy in back of me say YeeHah, as she says so often to us. We couldn't have been more pleased as this was what we had been working for all year long. Nancy continued to read off the scores and the placements, and then we heard--------and our fifth place Regional Chorus winner is---- QUEEN CITY SOUND. Well, talk about pandemonium, more whoops and hollers and yee hahs. We just couldn't believe our ears, FIFTH PLACE over all in our beloved Region 25, with our little Chorus of 17 great ladies.
This has been such an incredible journey this year for our Chorus and our wonderful Director, Pat Vozza. She has been our rock, our mentor, our teacher and a friend to each of us this year. She has been the one who has encouraged us with her sweet words and skillful direction. She tells us all the time she loves us and what a great Chorus we are, but while she stands out in front of us each week, she also asks of us no less than to give our best each time we sing. We don't always get it right the first time, but we keep trying. So this next year we have really set the bar high for ourselves . I think the neatest compliment we heard all weekend was a lady who stopped and gave us a great compliment of how well we did, but continued on and said she belongs to a small chorus and we gave all the small choruses hope and encouragement that they can also achieve what we did, as it's not the number of people you take on stage, it's the quality of the singing.
We have two wonderful coaches, that also sing with us in the chorus. They don't get to be with us as much as we would like, but when Sandy Shelver and Bette Gorton come to visit us, we are so excited and blessed for them to stand in front of us and share their pearls of wisdom with us. We love them and thank them so much for all they have done for us this year.
I do have to mention one more person, Becky Moore, our very capable Team Leader who has worked tirelessly this year to keep us informed of everything that is going on in our Chapter and sending us our thought for the day on e-mail, and information about upcoming performances and very detailed directions on how to get there, as we have one person in the chorus who can't find her way out of a paperbag unless you go into tons of turn right here and turn left there by the McDonald's, and sometimes she has to use that glorious invention, the CELL PHONE to talk me in (I mean her in). Thank you Becky.
I thought I would share a few of our feelings with all of you and how excited Queen City Sound is about winning 1st place Small Chorus medals and 5th place Regional Chorus medals. Thank you so much Region 25.

QUEEN CITY SOUND CHORUS is proud to announce that they have been invited to compete in the 2008 HARMONY CLASSICS at IES in San Antonio, TX!!! We are really looking forward to this opportunity. We are thrilled to the BONES! But, now, here comes the hard part... raising MONEY to get us there!! We are ALWAYS available for performances!!! If you have a function that needs entertainment, WE WILL SING FOR YOU! Contact Becky Moore at 417-582-1651 for more information!
We are more than ready and more than willing to SING our way to IES!!!
