Current mood: blessed
There's going to be some amazing deals on all kinds of great stuff this Black Friday. You're probably taking advantage of quite a few of them.
But how about a great deal on world changing ideas and heartwarming experiences?
For 24 hours only from Midnight to Midnight on November 28th (Black Friday) we'll be offering $20 tickets to the Saturday November 29th performance of Bucky and the Sunday, December 7th evening performance of A Christmas Carol- That's more than half off the regular price! And on date night! What a deal!
Planning to stay home to avoid the crowds? No problem! The deal's available online through www.pcs.org- just enter the promo code "Turkey" to get the special price.
We guarantee both shows will fit perfectly, go with everything in your home, have minimal packaging (but spectacular production values) and a very low carbon footprint.
Most importantly, we think you'll find them a great way to recharge your batteries and refresh your spirit during the upcoming marathon holiday shopping season.
See you at the theater!

{photo:A Rauschenberg collage at the Blue Sky Gallery}
We're taking the month off from our FREE First Thursday concerts, but here's a great opportunity to whet your appetite for the artistic pleasures awaiting you next season at PCS, with some help from Blue Sky Gallery.
Next season's world premiere of Nancy Keystone's Apollo will feature a dreamlike collage of photography, dance, spoken word and moving image delving into the hidden ramifications of America's mission to the moon (and the former Nazi scientists who were arguably instrumental to its success).
Keystone's style has been compared to collage work of the late, great visual artist Robert Rauschenberg. Never seen any of his mind-bending work?
Lucky for you, local photography gallery the Blue Sky Gallery is currently showing a series of prints based on photographs he took of China in the 1980s.
Join the crowds at tonight's First Thursday opening or wander in with a gelato on your next lazy long lunch- we guarantee it will whet your appetite for Keystone's ground-breaking coup de theatre next January.
Plus, it may make you itch to create your own incisive social commentary using that box of cards, magazine clippings and photos you found too interesting to throw away and too random to display…
In fact, if you do get inspired to bust out the modge podge, here's a summer project idea that could win you dinner in the pearl and tickets to a show:
1. Pick a theme based on a show coming to PCS next season (gangsters? Nixon? rock divas? Dymaxion files? East Hamptons? Forged documentation? moon landings? Nazis? geodesic domes? gosh the possibilities are endless!)
2. Build a Rauschenberg-style collage, including somewhere in it the PCS brochure image from the show you picked.
3. Mail it attn: Trisha Pancio, Portland Center Stage, 128 NW 11th Ave, PDX 97209 (be sure to include your name and address so we can give you proper credit for your work!)
We'll post every collage we receive to the PCS blog, and our favorite collage artist will win dinner and a show of your choice at PCS next season.
Happy cutting and pasting!

If you were recently thinking of posting to CL or one of those expensive dating sites with anything remotely similar to the title of this post, STOP! Portland Center Stage is hosting a Gay Speed Dating event tonight that could change your life for the better. Who knows, you could look back on June 4th, 2008 as the date that began the romance of a lifetime, the romance of a summer or at least the romance of a weekend. At 5:30pm on that date, 30 lucky, happy singles will begin mingling on the Gerding Theater Mezzanine and literally flirting with destiny.
Portland Center Stage and Willamette Week are thrilled to bring you the perfect event to prepare for Pride '08. For the unthinkably low admission of $30 you can enjoy snacks before dating (because some drink more than others at these events, there will be a cash bar in the immediate vicinity), the speed dating experience itself and our hilarious comedy of manners The Little Dog Laughedin the Ellyn Bye Studio. Here's the itinerary:
5:30pm - Mix and Mingle on the Mezzanine 6:15pm - Speed Date like there's no tomorrow with your host and emcee, PCS Education Director, Kelsey Tyler 7:15pm - Overflowing with infatuation, head down to the Studio for The Little Dog Laughed 9:30ish - Keep the party going with a special happy hour in honor of PCS Speed Daters at District (232 NW 12th Ave.)
All you need to do to get started is call the PCS box office at 503.445.3700 or click on the buy tickets link up and over to the right on this page, select the June 4th performance of The Little Dog Laughed and use the the redemption code SPEEDO. If you can't say or type "speedo" without cracking up, it's okay…just call the box office and tell them you want to be part of the Gay Speed Dating event of the century.
Hey, if the fork ran away with the spoon, there's no telling who you could end up with!
