We were fortunate enough to have Eric, an AMAZING photographer, at Engine Room with us while we recorded for Guilt By Association Vol. III over August's tour.  Above is a link to his site where you can check out new Israel Darling photos and some of his other great work of artists including Morrissey, Andrew Bird, and The Flaming Lips.

Israel Darling was featured in Yes! Weekly.

In an interview between Jacob and writer Ryan Snyder an article was released in Yes! Weekly encompassing all of Jacob's past which eventually led to the formation of Israel Darling.  From hardcore Christain music to an overdose of opiates that led to a coma and, eventually, time in rehab, this article is pact full of personal stuff that has led to something pretty great.

"It only takes a single listen to Israel Darling's debut album Dinosaur Bones and Mechanical Hands to get an earful of insight into Darden's troubled past..."

"One of the most compelling albums to come out of not only Greensboro this year, but the entire state..."

"ISRAEL DARLING
From: Greensboro
Since: 2007
Claim To Fame: Patenting the facial hair arrangement known as "The Gaza Strip"

Drumbeats sputter and stutter beneath frontman Jacob Darden's über-literate streams of memory. The rest of Israel Darling releases its pent-up energy in climactic bouts of gang vocals and crashing guitars, teetering on the brink of complete bedlam. The Triad quintet reigns it in, though, rotating back into hushed bedroom folk with haunting harmonies. With that well-paced plan, Israel Darling's variety presents tonight's knockout."

Hello All!
I hope your summer is treating you as well as ours!
(although, it's hot and muggy and stuffy and our power bill is over $100)

BUT! Here goes:
- In May/April, we were signed to Engine Room Recordings ( http://engineroomrecordings.com ). Make sure to check out their band roster and in their store, a couple new songs from us! plus, you'll see some great art from our great friend Michael Reisch that will be our first official debut's cover.

- That said, the album itself will be released in early August/late July. Hopefully we'll have the first round of copies available at our date with House of Fools at Greene Street. We're also looking to the record release in Morganton, NC in late August.

- This month and the next have been and will be used to get some new material written. For those of you who live in North Carolina, be on the look out for a split 7-inch with our good friend pinche gringo to benefit the impoverished, Glenwood neighborhood here in Greensboro, NC. It should be available all over the Old North State, including Lunch Box, Static Age, Green Eggs, and where ever is still open east of here.

- In August we'll be venturing up the coast to tour and record for a really great compilation, Guilt by Association. Very rad stuff in years past and has been in Alternative press.

- November will be spent on tour, as well (if not before then). We've gotten lots of really great feedback from people in the south and midwest, so be on the look out for dates!

Oh, we're on facebook too.

Thank you everyone for all of your support. It really makes us feel great!

"Acoustic and jangly but the polar opposite of mellow, Hickory’s Israel Darling draws a little rock twang and swagger into their clever Cohen meets Bacharach meets Buckley stew, and it sure does work. Atmospheric echoes swirl beneath a story of inner turmoil and hard choices in “Oh My God,” until the noise builds to a roar that matches the pain and regret in the storyteller’s head. Vocalist and songwriter Jacob Darden has a knack for delivering the damndest lyric at just the right time, with a voice somewhere in the area of Jump Little Children’s Jay Clifford and Andrew Bird, peppered with a tad of David Gray. “All Is Well” gears down a bit, but what sticks with you about these guys is that for all the “skinny pants” affectations and bouncing around (at least in the live format) there are real songs here, and the potential for much, much more. Smart arrangements, crafty use of sound (check the “grating giving way to hypnotic” drum loop under “I Know But It Is Late”) and no shortage of heartbreak in the material make for some great ingredients. We’ll just have to wait for Israel Darling to finish up the full-length album and head our way again — soon. Well worth a listen."

- Chris Cooper, Smoky Mountain News

"Darden finds his greatest success in the gently strummed, fragile ballads that display the character in his voice and his well crafted and lonesome songwriting."
