December 14, 2009 - Monday
Even though Hertta Lussu Ässä has been playing shows around the world since 2005, the only releases this far have been a tour cd-r and tracks on various compilations. I'm happy to announce that the first proper Hertta Lussu Ässä album is now being mixed! It has been recorded at Fonal's SS-studios and at our homes during 2008-2009 and it will finally see the daylight next year. Hertta Lussu Ässä is Islaja, Kuupuu and Lau Nau improvising with electronics and fart cushions.
The album sounds like nothing else, well it sounds like dolphins falling in love, it's improvised, it's so good that... ah! Just wait.

March 19, 2009 - Thursday

two of my songs, "Jouhet" and "Painovoimaa, valoa", from the last Lau Nau album Nukkuu were used in an Australian prime time TV series Underbelly. You who saw the episode four, tell me how it looked like. Meanwhile I drink only champagne with my meals.

Love,
Lau

January 18, 2009 - Sunday

Hei,

hello to everybody who I had the chance to meet during my travels last year. I played in very nice places and met wonderful people. And the Lau Nau shows were better than ever...

This year I won't tour as much. The nearly 30 shows that I played last year may not seem so many for other artists who do long tours, but for me it was a lot as I live in an remote area with a difficult access to the airport and I also miss my son a lot when I'm away from home. So, year 2009 sees less touring and more recording at home. At the moment I am preparing a Lau Nau 7" as well as music for a full length movie. I will let you know more later.

Well, anyway, I want to say kiitos, see you soon.

Handmade art edition of 133 copies on vinyl,
with paste-on art on recycled paper, hand-stamped labels and an insert. You can get it from the Motljud webshop, or by emailing the label, Tjärnen, directly.

Debut record for this free folk trio collaboration between Laura Naukkarinen (from Lau Nau) and Kristian Holmgren & Matti Bye (from Vinter), featuring out-of-tune meandering, slow paced walking-tunes, and folk songs of a tradition invented on the spot, with delicate female vocals over plucked, bent, bowed and hammered strings: from the fragile lyricism of "Saa puu" or "Pimeyden viimeinen säde," over the insect battle grounds and lonely wanderlust of "Pitkä matka," to the eerie, desolate wastelands of "Ishavets sång," where lonely, ghost-like voices drift over the frozen bass strings of the dampened piano, sounding "...as if already drifting under the ice," as someone said of the poet Heym..

So many !!!!!'s
