there are huge dollops of sombrero related treasures out there...

http://dusty7s.blogspot.com/  brings you camp nonsense, pretty pictures, and crackly records

http://www.duckworthsquare.com/frankosonic/frankosonic/2007/01/bob.html frankosonic is where you'll find all three BOB peel sessions to download

http://therainfelldown.blogspot.com/index.html  has tunes galore, including a weekly radio show

http://www.siddeleys.com/  is the home of sombrero recording artistes the siddeleys (obviously)

and don't forget captain black, allan kingdom, torquil, sonny, and the atom miska reservation in our top friends bit - sombrero fallouts all.

happy linking.

sombrero rode off into the sunset with a bunch of records that really should've been released

BOB - convenience

THE SIDDELEYS - you get what you deserve

RESERVE - me, you, and world war two

thankfully at least BOB went on to better things and 'convenience' came out on their own House Of  Teeth label to huge aclaim and a spot in 1989s festive fifty. THE SIDDELEYS got to record their tune for a john peel session, but it would've been a blinding single, wrapped in horns and david clynch's marvelous drums. i'm still convinced it would've led them to great things. the RESERVE track only made it to a pretty ropey demo but i hope you can hear the huge potential this number had.

i wish this had been our starting point rather than the bitter end ...

rooting around for stuff about the wonderful sombrero acts i found an interview the siddeleys did with some japanese chaps. my computer supplied these glorious translations...

'sunshine thuggery' - fearful title the tune where the light guitar glows contrarily.

'what went wrong this time' - of beginning unintentionally the oral (zu) is cold feeling good quality.

the melody of exquisitness.

in the person of the not yet experience the experience, knowing the music of the siddeleys which has only the highest expression more deeply in the known person.

somehow this all makes much more sense than pretty much everything else i've ever read about those gorgeous siddeleys.
thankyou japan.
