(Information about Feedback’s 2009 sponsors and prize package will be forthcoming.) "Going from bad to good is easy – going from good to great takes a lot more work,” explains live music producer, Tom Jackson. “Artists need to always have the attitude of wanting to learn, wanting to improve their ministry. Franklin, TN (June 6, 2008) – FEEDBACK Conference is pleased to share that its first event of 2008, recently held in Asheville, NC, was a great success and it is gearing up for an even better weekend in Dallas, TX in August.
"The most exciting thing to our team is to see artists go into the weekend passionate about getting a record deal and leaving passionate about their calling," explains event co-founder, Terry Weaver. "Asheville featured some amazing times of worship (led by Courtney Phelps and This Is Luke, two artist who were attendees last year) and community for not only the artists, but everyone involved. God really moved in ways that words can't even express. I can't wait to see what He is going to do in Dallas…everything is bigger in Texas!
Held at the beautiful Lake Junaluksa Conference and Retreat Center, highlights from Ashville include sessions with Charlie Peacock, Shaun Groves, Mark Stuart, Ryan Dobson and respected performance coach, Tom Jackson.
"Going from bad to good is easy – going from good to great takes a lot more work!" explains Jackson. "Artists need to always have the attitude of wanting to learn, wanting to improve their ministry. And, attending events like the FEEDBACK Conference is one of the things that can help set an artist apart from the crowd, help get their message out there, and make their mission more effective."
Stuart, speaker and frontman of now retired Grammy and Dove winning band Audio Adrenaline, continues, "I love to mentor and teach, and at FEEDBACK I found a generation of artists that where so hungry to learn how to serve God through their art. It was...inspiring!!!"
While the main focus of FEEDBACK is cultivating both the ministry and business aspects of an artist's career, the Conference also plays host to a great Artist Showcase. The winner of the Asheville competition is Spartansburg, SC based band, Good Tomorrow. The rock foursome won a grand prize package including: Album production from Flintrock Productions, a photo shoot from Tyler Andrews Photography, graphic design work from Artillery Media, cd duplication from Litho Express, radio promotion from Pure Tracking and an endorsement from Risen Drums.
"We are humbled and grateful to be named the 2008 winners of the Asheville conference - it was honestly a huge shock," says Matt Bailey, frontman for the group. "It was exciting to receive such great feedback about our music and know that professionals in the music industry see potential in our art and ministry."
He continues: "The sessions at FEEDBACK are great, the speakers top-notch, and the staff's heart for helping artists find their purpose in Christian music is a rare find. The showcase reviews are definitely helpful, and although they are typically the initial draw for most bands who want to get 'discovered,' the overall experience of FEEDBACK and the insight gained was the real draw to why we came back for the second time. It's a conference we would recommend to any artist (signed or unsigned) who is serious about their call to music."
With the goal of equipping artists to be effective in their mission, FEEDBACK Dallas boasts a line-up of industry veterans who will cover all aspects of being an artist; from technique and artistry to faith and ministry. Speakers and presenters for the conference include Charlie Peacock (speaker, author, songwriter, producer), Ryan Dobson (speaker, author), Jamie George (pastor, speaker), Tom Jackson (performance consultant for Taylor Swift, Jars of Clay), Jan Smith (vocal coach for Usher, Rob Thomas), Chris Seay (speaker, author, pastor) and Shaun Groves (artist, advocate, songwriter), as well as a plethora of record label executives, marketing gurus and music industry experts. Artists include The Afters, Stephanie Smith and Sleeping At Last.
FEEDBACK Dallas will be held at Camp Copass Conference and Retreat Center August 21-24.

One Of A Kind Event Equips Artists To Be Effective In Their Mission By Providing Practical Teaching, Passionate Worship And Relevant Resources
Charlie Peacock, Tom Jackson, Jan Smith, Mark Stuart, Shane Claiborne, Ryan Dobson And Others Slated To Appear – Asheville, NC May 22-25 And Dallas, TX August 21-24
Franklin, TN (April 15, 2008) – Building on the success of its inaugural event in 2007, the Feedback Conference is pleased to announce its expansion to two events in 2008, featuring an unprecedented line up of speakers, presenters and performers at both.
Feedback will be returning to Lake Junaluksa Conference and Retreat Center in Asheville, NC May 22-25 for the first of its 2008 events and will branch out to Camp Copass Conference and Retreat Center just outside Dallas, TX for its second conference August 21-24.
With the goal of equipping artists to be effective in their mission, Feedback boasts a line-up of industry veterans who will cover all aspects of being an artist; from technique and artistry to faith and ministry. Speakers and presenters for the conference include Charlie Peacock (speaker, author, songwriter, producer), Shane Claiborne (speaker, advocate), Ryan Dobson (speaker, author), Tom Jackson (performance consultant for Taylor Swift, Jars of Clay), Jan Smith (vocal coach for Usher, Rob Thomas), Mark Stuart (speaker, songwriter, former lead singer of Audio Adrenaline), Chris Seay (speaker, author, pastor) and Shaun Groves (artist, advocate, songwriter), as well as a plethora of record label executives, marketing gurus and music industry experts. Artists include Stephanie Smith, Sleeping At Last and The Wedding.
"We are extremely excited about the 2008 Conferences," says Terry Weaver, Feedback co-founder. "Last year we saw nearly 300 attend our very first event and we were blown away by the response, so we added a second conference this year in order to meet the needs of even more artists. Through Feedback we feel we are providing attendees with a well-rounded view of what it is to be an artist of faith. It's very important that we not only present resources for the technical aspect of performing, songwriting and promoting music but we also take it a step further to give artists a chance to pause, to worship together and to renew their calling."
More than just four days of seminars and teaching, Feedback also allows attendees the opportunity to showcase their talents and receive creative analysis from a panel of industry experts. While not the main focus of the event, showcase winners will be chosen, with prizes including a Larrivee Guitar, a slot on a national tour, album production, cd duplication services, a Daisy Rock "Girl that Rocks" Award, radio promotion services, graphic design and much more.
Kory Wheeler, frontman for This is Luke, the 2007 Showcase winner, explains how the conference has effected the band's ministry over the past year: "Feedback was amazing for us! Not only did we get some great input from industry professionals, but the information we gained and relationships we made have helped us to become a full-time ministry over the last year. It is something that totally changed how we operate as a band."
"Feedback was different from any other conference I've been to in that it went beyond the business and gave artists a chance to connect and rejuvenate themselves," adds Noel McLeary, another 2007 attendee. "The evening speakers had nothing to do with the music industry and to me that made it real and relevant… really powerful stuff… we definitely witnessed God moving at Feedback."
Many industry specialists who participated in last year's Conference were quick to jump on board for Feedback '08.
"It was an honor to be a part of last year's Feedback Conference and I'm looking forward to the conferences this year," explains Josh Bailey, director of A&R for Word Label Group. Feedback is truly an environment where ministry and growth are fostered for both the artists and the industry attending."
Extreme Tour founder, Ted Bruun, continues: "Feedback is more than a seminar and certainly more than a showcase. Feedback is the first event I have seen in the endless parade of opportunities for bands that actually seeks to tear down the wall between the industry and the artists, making the correct information bands need to succeed accessible and understandable."

Without the opportunity to experience this conference, I would not have had the exposure to labels and label feedback that I had there. Not only that, but the sheer opportunity to listen to awesome seminars that coach you in every aspect of your music, such as marketing and vocal training. I am very glad I chose to attend this conference. It has taken me to another level with my music. I highly recommend it." Courtney Phelps / Solo Artist / North Carolina

Check out what people are saying about our speakers for our practical sessions... About Jan Smith..... "She's the bomb! Jan has really taught me the subtleties of singing. Since I met her, I have gained two octaves on my voice. I'm from the school of 'I can sing and I don't need anybody to show me,' but Jan has made all the difference in the world." Rob Thomas - vocalist -matchbox twenty "Jan Smith is not just a vocal coach, she is a voice builder. By sharing her God given talent, she has made me understand the true meaning of singing from your soul!! She not only encourages vocal control, but demands vocal perfection." Usher , LaFace Recording Artist "Jan Smith is an invaluable resource for preparing singers for the rigors of making records. She brings a level of expertise and excitement that inspires passionate performances and increased technical ability. Working with her is a pleasure." Matt Serletic, Producer - matchbox twenty, Aerosmith, Celine Dion About Tom Jackson..... "I was attending the GMA Academy in 2003 when I first attended Tom's classes…After applying some of his lessons, I was lucky enough to win the Overall Spotlight Award! Thanks to Tom for helping me on the road to American Idol!" Jordin Sparks, 2007 American Idol "If you want to learn about raising kids you ask Dr. Dobson. If you want to learn about handling money... Larry Burkett. If you want to learn to hit a baseball far... Mark McGwire. If you want to learn what to do onstage ask Tom Jackson." Eddie Carswell, Founder of the group Newsong "You are only hurting your music career if you are not listening to what Tom Jackson has to say about your onstage performance. I have been involved in the music business for 20 plus years as a musician, manager, indie label owner, major label VP and agency VP. If you are a singer, performing artist or in a band performing live and can only do one thing to further your career, take my advice, listen to what Tom Jackson has to say!" Derrick Ross, VP Contemporary Music, SL Feldman and Associates (Avril Lavigne, Nelly Furtado, Bryan Adams, Rush, Norah Jones, Sarah McLachlan, Barenaked Ladies, Martina McBride and more) About Charlie Peacock.... "The first time I heard Charlie Peacock was when I saw an "unplugged" performance with Vince Ebo and Jimmy Abegg. It absolutely changed my life! His music was, and still is, so unique and passionate. Not only did his music make an impact on my life, but the times I have heard him speak during his performances played a huge role in me surrendering to the ministry." Bart Millard, MercyMe, INO Records Recoding Artists "Charlie's place will always be a second home for me. I've learned so much about making music at Charlie's side. However, one of the most important things that he taught me has nothing to do with sounds or lyrics. He told me that "relationships will always matter more than the music. Twenty years from now your platinum albums or radio hits will mean very little. Always live with the families and friendships in mind." So true... I've admired Charlie for as long as I've known him. Whether in the studio or in the kitchen, he was the type of guy that you wanted to emulate. I hope to be a Charlie in the San Diego scene." Jon Foreman, Lead Singer Switchfoot "I like a lot of things about Charlie Peacock, but my favorite thing is his joy. It pours out into his music, production, writing and friendships. He is preoccupied with the Kingdom, how it works, and how it is meant to come to us, and because of this, his books, his music and his life are full of fruit and clues about kingdom living. Charlie and Andi have inspired Troy and I in our hearts and home." Sara Groves, INO Records Recoding Artists

What People are Saying about Feedback...
"I have been a Speaker, Industry Rep, and judge for dozens of events and seminars offering indie bands a chance to showcase for their "big break". What do I think of Feedback ? Feedback is more than a seminar, certainly more than showcase. Feedback is the first event I have seen, in the endless parade of "opportunities" for bands, that actually seeks to tear down the wall between the Industry and the Artists, making the correct information bands need to succeed accessible and understandable. The speakers and teachers that Feedback brings are not there to promote their company or service, and they are not there to make you a better entertainer. The speakers and teachers at Feedback are at the event for one reason alone: To help you learn to follow the Calling that God placed on you as a minister as effectively and successfully as possible. Finally ! A seminar that helps you seek first the Kingdom of God ! Pray about your opportunity to be a part of this. Did God really call you to minister through music ? Has God called you to attend ? If so, do not rob yourself by not attending. Step up, come to this event, let "Iron sharpen Iron". Become ALL that God called you to be as His servant. "
