PLEASE REPOST AND KEEP MY BUDDY DAVE, SONIA AND THEIR NEW BABY IN YOUR PRAYERS AND HEALING ENERGY!

-Patrick

==================================================

Hello all

So many times I have used this forum to ask for prayers and healing for others, today I come to you on bended knee and beg for your help for me.

Long story short, earlier this year I was surprised to find out I would be a Father for the 7th time. Seems a new medication they gave to to the girl I was seeing rendered her birth control useless and actually is used as a fertility drug.  "SURPRISE!"

We held off from making this news public as she had suffered 2 miscarriages with a prior relationship and we didnt want to Jinx anything. Things progressed well and she is at the 7 month mark.

I arrived in Canada for a conference on Wednesday and she went to a routine medical exam, turns out she developed Preeclampsia, they thought they could control things so I was told there is no need to rush back. Over the last few days things have gotten worse, I am coming home tonight and they are forced to induce birth tomorrow, Saturday the 8th of August. The baby will be about 2 months premature, however it is the only way to save Sonia.

So I come to you today, my heart, head and stomach are in knots...I ask very humbly that you each send healing and energy and strength to Sonia Six in Minneapolis, make her body strong and healthy, keep her blood pressure low and in a safe range to protect her. She is in danger and needs all your love and energy and prayers.

I also ask for all you can offer to my son, Damian Six Schrader...he is joining us tomorrow, 2 months early.

Please send healing and energy to his little lungs and heart and organs to be strong.
Pray for him to survive this ordeal and to grow to be a very healthy, happy human.

I know that through God anything is possible, I ask you all to raise your voices in prayer to help us. As it states in the bible Matthew 18 Verses 19 & 20

"Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. 20For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."

Please come together and help my baby and my blessed and beautiful Sonia to be deliver safely and to recover quickly.

More updates to follow.

Thanks for your consideration and time.

Prayers and energy for Sonia Six & baby Damian Six Schrader in Minneapolis, MN.

We’ve kept this on the down-low for the past few months, but its time to finally let the cat out of the bag...

Many have asked me "Patrick... when are you going to write a book?"  Well, Its official – I’ve finally penned my first book, co-written with “Ghost Huntress” author Marley Gibson and Darkness Radio host Dave Schrader.

Our book “THE OTHER SIDE: Ghost Hunting and the Paranormal for Teens” is being published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.  Growing up, you probably remember that every other text book you had in school was published by Houghton Mifflin, so I don’t have to tell you that this book deal is HUGE for us.

As the title implies, this book is a how-to manual aimed at the next generation of ghost hunters.  I know we’re probably going to catch a firestorm of hell from those in our field that think teens have no business ghost hunting and should not be doing it.  To that I respond – adults also warn teens that they shouldn’t be smoking, drinking, doing drugs or having premarital sex either, yet that doesn't seem to stop them, does it?  To assume that teens wont ghost hunt - especially with the number of shows and movies on the paranormal geared at their age demographic - is a rediculous notion.  So isn't it better to get them started responsibly since they are going to do it anyways? And lets face it – most of us in this field were probably doing something related to the paranormal in our youth.  Even if we weren’t yet full-fledged ghost hunters, we were probably at one point or another playing with a Ouija board, exploring old abandoned houses, or even playing “light as a feather, stiff as a board” at sleep overs.  Rather than wag a hypocritical finger at teens of today and tell them “NO!” we felt it was high time that someone pen a book aimed at their age group that tells them how to get started on the right foot.

We’ve gone out of our way to tell teens how to ghost hunt in a responsible manner.  For example, we explain why trespassing is not only bad from a legal perspective, but gives all ghost hunters a bad name when someone gets caught.  We recommend that teens find an adult to mentor their group. We explain that abandoned houses are VERY bad do to possible structural weaknesses, and we recommend that their group do some form of “protection” ritual before an investigation to prevent possible attachments of undesirable energies.  In short, we’ve  written a book that tells teens the right way (in our opinion) to get started in this field.

The book was renamed recently and the title “THE OTHER SIDE” was chosen to pay homage to our recently crossed over colleague Dr. Hans Holzer.  Holzer was the first to refer to the spirit world as “the other side of life”, not to mention he coined the term “ghost hunter” back in 1963.  The book is being dedicated to his memory, and the choice of the title (with the kind permission of his daughter Alexandra Holzer) we felt was a fitting tribute to one of the great legends in our field.

“THE OTHER SIDE: Ghost Hunting and the Paranormal for Teens” will soon be available for pre-orders on Amazon, and other on-line sellers.  It is slated to hit the shelves of bookstores everywhere September 7’th – just in time for Halloween!

If you have a youngster in your life that is as passionate about this field as we are, this book – the first of its kind – is going to be a great way to get them started in a rational, responsible manner.

UPDATE - We’re starting to get some press rolling in already!  The following article appeared in “Publishers Weekly – Childrens Bookshelf"  May 7th.  For those not in the know, Publishers Weekly (in the words of Marley) is “…like the Sports Illustrated of the publishing world: its HUGE!!!!!!!!!!”

WHO YOU GONNA READ?

What’s an amateur ghost huntress to do? In the case of Marley Gibson, who already borrowed from her college experiences to write the Sorority 101 series (under the name Kate Harmon), she decided to create a series on ghost hunting, featuring a teen and the town’s psychic. The idea for the Ghost Huntress series, which launches this month with The Awakening (Graphia), came from a presentation Gibson attended led by the New England Ghost Project. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt chose GhoStock 7, a paranormal conference in Salem, Mass., hosted by Patrick Burns of Tru TV and Court TV’s Haunting Evidence series, to launch the Ghost Huntress books. Pictured here at the kick-off party are (from l.): HMH Children’s Group publisher Betsy Groban; Dave Schrader, host of the radio program “Darkness on the Edge of Town”; author Marley Gibson; Patrick Burns; and series editor Julia Richardson. In September, Graphia will publish Gibson’s nonfiction look at paranormal investigations, Other Side: Ghost Hunting and the Paranormal for Teens, cowritten with Burns and Schrader.

Yesterday I posted a heated response to a blog that was brought to my attention.  In it I started off by saying it was my long-standing policy to not respond to gossip.  However in posting my subsequent retort, I realized that ironically I’d allowed myself to get sucked into the very drama that I so detest.

My response was a hasty one, fueled by my anger that, from my perspective, an individual who shall not be named had used the passing of a friend and mentor to make the latest in a series of ongoing, derogatory remarks about me.  I found this to be gossip of the absolute lowest common denominator and subsequently lashed out.

Scores of you came to my side and supported me, for which I am grateful.  But several of you who know me personally noted my response and status to be out of character for me.  The latter were correct – what I posted was not “of the light” and further added fuel to the fires of negativity.

I have retracted the blog and all its comments and I now replace it with this – a sincere apology to those of you whom I may have offended.

But my DEEPEST apologies go to the entire Holzer family.  It is a hard enough time for you all that you have lost a father and grandfather.  An uncle and a brother.  But for me to have made a spectacle out of a few insignificant remarks that in all likelihood would not have seen the eyes of a fraction of the people who have now seen them was, point-blank, wrong of me.  It was never my intention to bring further pain to you in a time when you are mourning – along with me – the passing of a loved one.  If my actions have in any way pained you, I apologize from the bottom to the very top of my heart.  I and many others share in your loss and I acted out of anger in a time when we should be celebrating the life of a great man and a true pioneer in our field.

To my aggressor to whom I also apologize.  I have stood by in silence for a long time while I watched you post many nasty, vile and down-right hateful things about myself and now another colleague of ours.  I’m going to say this only one time – nothing good has come, or will come of your actions.  The “respect” you believe you have earned from a handful of your personal friends is entirely eclipsed by the avalanche of disrespect you have sown from the paranormal community as a whole.  Ask around and the number one thing people detest the most about this field is the very gossip and drama you have become an active and willing participant in.  This shall be my last correspondence with you. Ever.  My relationship with you is over.  I have moved on in my life.  I shall refrain from addressing you either directly or indirectly in any online forum.  If you are truly moving on with your life (as you claim you are), then do the same and stop now with the petty gossip and irrelevant nonsense.  It is not your duty to make peoples personal lives a public side show.  I know for a fact there are many aspects of your personal life that you would not want to be made public, so extend that same courtesy to others.  As I said before, those who live in glass houses should not throw stones…

I was hasty this AM to post Alexandras press release regarding Hans CROSSING - not "passing" that I didn't really have a chance to address my thoughts fully.  Perhaps it had not sunk in, but it has started to now.

I first met Hans Holzer in the spring of 2006.  I was in New York City at the time doing PR work for "Haunting Evidence".  I'd wanted to bring Hans to GhoStock in Savannah Georgia that Autumn, but his heath prohibited him from traveling.  A number of years ago, Hans fell and broke his leg.  His health had been in steady decline since the accident, but he ALWAYS remained optomistic that his health would improve and that he would be able to travel again.  And when that time came, he would attend our event.

In lieu of being able to attend in person, Hans invited us to come to his apartment and video tape an interview with him to show at the event -  which we did.  The interview was taped literally minutes after we filmed the opening sequence for "Haunting Evidence" - we wrapped that shoot, and then I immediately got in a cab to ride to Dr. Holzers apartment on Riverside Drive.  So when the opening titles are rolling on the show, if you notice a glint in my eye, its because I knew I was mere moments from meeting my paranormal idol!

That autumn, we aired Hans interview at GhoStock 3 and also did a question and answer panel with him via telephone after.

In December of 2007, I returned to NYC to interview Hans again.  At that time he was using a "walker" to move about his apartment.  The fact that his condition had gotten worse since I'd met him a year and a half prior saddened me.  That interview I did in December of 2007 has never before been seen, and his daughter Alexandra confirmed that it was among the very last interviews Hans did.   I have not had a chance to edit the interview due to my busy schedule over the last year and a half, however When I locate the footage, I plan to cut together a tribute video in honor of him.

Hans was the only person in this field that I truely idolized.  I remember watching him on the old series "In Search Of" way back in the 1970's.  His ideas about what a "ghost" is and why they might linger made and still do make sense.  To the next generation of ghost hunters - if you are not familiar with Dr. Holzers work, do yourself a favor and get upto speed on this

I feel honored that I not only met Dr. Holzer, but was allowed to conduct one of the last taped interviews with him.

We have lost one of the few, true pioneers in our field who can never be replaced.  My prayers and condolences go out to the Holzer family.

And to Hans...  you'll never be a "ghost" or a "stay behind"... but as a free spirit, here is hoping you'll come back and visit sometime!  Can you recommend a "good trance medium"? ;)

RIP

It is with a deep heart that I pass along a press release issued from my friend Alexandra Holzer.  We lost the ORGINIAL "Ghost Hunter" - the man who coined the term, this past Sunday.  My heart goes out to his family.

To Hans...  I hope "the other side" that you studied for so long is everything you hoped it would be and more.  Now we just need a "good trance medium" to talk to YOU!

RIP my friend...

Current mood:  accomplished
Hey everyone!

Sorry to my friends for not being more chatty online these days. I've been BUSY the past few months with several "fires burning" at once. GhoStock is nearly upon us, but more about that in a moment.

I'm getting ready to do a complete top to bottom overhaul of the Ghost Hounds website. The new interface will be more interactive and provide many new features. Be on the look out for that in the next few weeks (if all goes as planned)

I'm also working on a very ambitious project that strives to pick up where "Haunting Evidence" left off and expand on the idea! Its an experiment that I hope will aid law enforcement in the investigation of "cold cases" by creating a world-wide refinery of psychic investigators. I'll be posting a blog talking about the "Psychic PI's Network" in the coming weeks after GhoStock.

What else? Well, as always, I've been traveling extensively. The 2009 paranormal conference circuit has officially started for me. I've attended a couple of great events already at Oklahomas "ParaCon" hosted by the Ghost Divas Tammy and Tonya. Also had a great time at "Phenomenology 101" in Gettysburg PA a week ago.

Next stop for me is Ghost Hounds very own "GhoStock 7" - just nine days from now! Salem is going to be an awesome venue for the event - I've visited the town twice in the last month and I'm blown away by the history there. Its surreal to walk inside buildings over 300 years old - structures that predate the USA's Revolutionary War by 100 years or more! OH if only those walls could "talk"... and maybe they CAN! ;)

On that note I wanted to single out my good friend Fiona Broome. Fiona grew up less than 16 miles from Salem, so she's about as local as you get! She has been instrumental in helping me organize the event and introduced me to several key people in Salem that have been incredibly helpful in their own right. Shes also let me around on a couple of very informative personal walking tours of the city. Compound that with the fact Fiona has been pounding the pavement in Salem to find us investigation locations. A million kudos to you Fiona - you're the best investigation scout EVER! I couldn't have done this without you!!! =)

I also need to thank my good friend Christine Lederman with "Perfectly Paranormal" event planning. Christine is an awesome event coordinator and brings to the table many years working in the hospitality industry. Her "insiders insight" and keen negotiating skills have been a huge help to me every step of the way! =)

Tickets are still available for GhoStock 7! If you haven't gotten yours, there is still time! Visit us at http://ghostock.com

And remember - if you cant attend in person, we'll offer streaming video feeds of the lectures and some ghost hunts in our webcast. GhoStock was the first paranormal conference to offer streaming video in 2005. We've offered this feature totally free of charge since GhoStock 1 and we'll continue that tradition with GhoStock 7 and beyond!

Hope to see you in Salem - either in person or in the chat / webcast!

Hey everyone...

If you've been reading my blogs, you no doubt recall my friend and GhoStock web master Delias mom recently suffered a major stroke. Unfortunately things have gotten much worse.

A text message I got tonight from Delia -

======================================

"Pat, Dave, Bob, Deb - My mom is dying. Don't know.. how long. Even doc was cryin & prayin. People listen 2 you guys. Would u mind putting out prayer requests 4 her? I don't kno if there is hope or if it should b for easy passing. But definitely prayers. I luv all u guys. Talk to you soon, and thank you dearly"

=======================================

This is so tragic. But again - you all know what to do. Send out that good energy from what ever your faith system is.

God bless you Deila and may the creator give you and your mother strength in this difficult time.

-Patrick
