My first single from "Light & Dark" is out now exclusively on Beatport! It features the original "Step Into the Light" as well as stellar remixes from Micah, The Emissary and Starfire, and myself. The Emissary and Starfire mix and the original are both climbing the breaks sales charts at Beatport, so go check them out! Grab the release at Beatport or check out extended previews of the tracks on Proton’s page.

My debut EP on Proton is out now! It's called Light & Dark and it's a big epic orchestral breaks affair. With 2 tracks, "Step Into the Light" and "Le Voyage", this is a great debut for me on Proton. These tracks came out of some conversations Jay at Proton and I had about doing some big soundrack-ish type music that mix electronics and orchestra. They draw influences on a lot of music from Philip Glass to Hybrid and then on to Cirque du Soleil and the music from Battlestar Galactica. And early next year the remix single will come out with a brand new mix from Micah! What are you waiting for -- go grab it on Beatport.com! Or just head over to the Proton page and give it a listen!

Current mood: tired
Yeah I don't write in this thing enough. I know it. But I have a lot going on, which is a semi-acceptable excuse.
At least I think it is.
At any rate, I'm pretty swamped. So don't think I've dropped off the planet or anything :-)
First things first, I've got several remixes coming out here soon. The first is of Vieux Farka Toure and is coming out on his remix disc on Modiba here soon! This is the remix that won the recent contest over at ccmixter, so check it out! I've also got one of Boom Jinx coming out on Hunyamunya (this one's been coming out forever), and one of Dustin H for Pacific Front. They should show up in the old trusty Beatport player on my main page when they come out...
Second things second, I've got a 2 track EP coming out on Proton later this year! Jason had this idea to do some big epic soundtrack meets electronic stuff, and so I wrote a couple of tracks. One of the songs is going to be on a comp in August, the EP's coming out in September sometime, and then we're getting some remixes done on them which will come out later on. It should be cool...and I should know, since, you know, I wrote them and all.
In other news I've been doing some cool work around Nashvegas, doing some electronic parts (we call it "programming" in the biz - yeah I sound lame saying it like that) for Charlie Peacock which was a blast. He's one of the coolest people around here and very down to earth. In fact one day I was up at his studio teaching him how to use Reaktor which was pretty surreal.
I'm also working with blues producer/guitarist Kenny Meeks doing some lo-fi organic type remixes of artists like Marc Broussard, B. Young and other peeps. This is totally different than the other stuff I'm doing and is super cool. I love exploring different directions and this is like downtempo meets surf rock and 70's soul all rolled into some crazy sounds.
And of course, I'm still working with Elese on a record, and we've been working on it quite a while. At some point here we will have a release party and get this thing out the door :-)
I've also been producing some small indie projects, and one of the more recent projects I worked on was with a blues artist named Erisa Kopp. I've also got some remixes done for Faith Gilmore (which we will get up into the world sometime!) and am working on various other projects like scoring short films and such.
Anyway, I've rambled long enough for now - but you should also know that I working on a deal to do the composer thing for a bunch of reality shows, which would be sweet. We'll see how that works out...
Peace.
Tim

Hisboyelroy's Funk House remix of Rebecca St. James' "You Are Loved" is finally out as a bonus track on her new live CD/DVD! TitleTrakk.com's review had this to say: "The CD adds a bonus track - a funky, techno remix version of the earlier performed acoustic 'You Are Loved'. This one really rocks." EMI had me do this remix last year and it was initially supposed to be released with the original version as an iTunes single. That didn't quite happen, but they decided to release it on this CD instead. It's a pretty "pop" remix so don't expect a deep club cut :-) You can buy the remix on iTunes or pick it up on CD.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! In the spirit of the holidays, I thought I'd give a cool gift this year to every one - it's a free download of my Sarah McLachlan remix. You can download it by subscribing to my podcast, or by using the direct download link below. Hope you enjoy it! Download "The First Noel (hisboyelroy's epic rework)" directly! Hisboyelroy Podcast in itunes Or, you can cut/paste this url into your favorite podcast app: http://feeds.feedburner.com/hisboyelroymusic In case you were wondering where this remix came from, I originally did it for the Sarah McLachlan remix contest. But for some reason I had trouble uploading it (that will teach me to wait til the last day to try to do it). I was holding out some slim hope that perhaps they had gotten it but never posted it to the entries list, but that didn't happen. At any rate, let me know if you like it! And also let nettwerk know too ;-)

My new remix of CPM's Takeaway is out now on Proton! They had this to say about it: "Don't miss out on the His Boy Elroy remix here, an epic theatrical breakbeat number that is his strongest work to date-- by far!" I can't argue with that since I know at one point it was #12 on the breaks sales charts there. So go forth and grab it from Beatport if you haven't already, and tell them I sent you.

Hey I've got lots of news on the music front today! First off, check out my new Sarah McLachlan remix in the myspace player! It's in the Network remix contest so hopefully good things come from it. Let me know if you dig it! Secondly, LT and I have been working on some tracks together and our first EP called "Reactive Psychology" is out! It combines some of my darker musical moments with LT's great lyrics and rapping. We hope you like it! Check out "Reactive Psychology" on iTunes, eMusic, Rhapsody, Napster and more! I've also stuck "The Bomb Droppers" in my myspace player as well! Lastly (but certainly not leastly), Pacific Front Recordings just released my remix of AFK and Dustin H's "The Morning Star!" You can grab the release at Beatport or at Resonant Vibes. My remix is epic-breaks style (with some orchestra stuff thrown in there) while the original release and AFK's remix are more progressive house. If you liked my Okoboji remix, you'll like this remix as well! That's a lot of stuff going on - hope you like it! I will check in with more later... Tim

Hisboyelroy has been named one of 2 runner-ups in the Fort Minor remix contest! Chosen from almost 500 entries, hbe's "cinematrik rework" was honored to be included in the top 3 remixes. You can read the news on Fort Minor's page, and you can download the remix from ccmixter or by subscribing to my podcast in iTunes. And hey, it's also in the myspace player.

Hey so this is very cool but also kind of random! Just was informed that one of my Creative Commons remixes "Bevel" was featured on a Viper "spy cam" video over on Streetfire.net. It's always cool to see these Creative Commons mixes turn up in different places. I also know that someone used "Revolve" for a physics video. Also on that note I found out that Adidas' Retail stores are supposed to be playing a different remix of "Revolve" that I did. So if you're in an Adidas store and you hear it, let me know!

It's been a little while since I updated this, I'm a slacker I know :-) I've got several remixes in the oven right now - a pop dance remix of EMI artist Rebecca St. James' "You Are Loved", a progressive breaks remix of CPM's "Takeaway" for Proton, a remix of AFK & Dustin H's "Morning Star" for Pacific Front and another remix of Boom Jinx for Hunyamunya! I will let you know when each of those drop - the Rebecca remix will be available for download for free for a limited time from her site and the others will be on sale on Beatport and iTunes. Plus I'm working on a new EP with Elese, and my hip-hop EP collaboration with LT of Trifonic is due out shortly. Dang I must be busy!
