METAL TO INFINITY

For some reason, this promo got a little lost in between the massive amount of cds that are pouring in. Besides, it wasn't eye-catching at all: a CD-R and a post-it note with the name Terry Lauderdale was all I could find.  No info sheet with extra information which is always handy while you explore a new album. No booklet, and even no title tracks. It's a kind of 'see for yourself' promo, and perhaps that was the main reason why it kept stuck under a pile of good looking releases.

Some day, I decided to give it a try, and I inserted Terry Lauderdale's promo in the cd player. Well, I can tell you this, that moment might be considered as a rectification of my own obtuseness. How could I be so wrong by judging an album, or even worse, an artist by the way a product looks?  Talent doesn't need information sheets or booklets with high detailed photographs.  Talent does not need a cool looking front cover artwork. All that fuss is only mentioned for those that want to distract the quality of the music with some eye catching rigmarole.  At this moment, I am truly convinced that this is the way it really shoot be.  A CD-R with no promotalk or superlatives, but just music straight from the heart.

And that's exactly the moment when Terry Lauderdale comes in the picture.  This gifted guitar player succeeds in parade's one's knowledge with catchy riffs and above all, shredding, at some moments screaming guitar strings that lift every song to a real masterpiece. Although most of the songs are instrumental, we must conclude that Terry Lauderdale is also aware that variety is essential in this genre. A lot of instrumental albums can't grip someone's attention for the whole length, but this one provide evidence to the contrary.  Some tracks are heavy appetizers; others are world known anthems like Europe's 'The Final Countdown'.  Terry got it all in hands and fingers and that makes me really elated.

He is an amazing guitarist that delivers amazing guitar lines with a lot of melody and flavor.  That's also the reason why he became an endorsed musician of Sfarzo string Company.

Nowadays Terry is playing with live his band 'Hot For Teacher' all around the West Coast of the USA, and I'm sure that numerous Van Halen fans will be stunned when they see this American dude is ascending into heaven. My rating: 95/100

Jimmi Ward has been rockin’ the music scene in the SF Bay Area for years, playing with such well known acts as Meantime, Hell ..n’ Back, Lust, Agony Sweet, Pigs, Dammit Jim, RaiderHed, The Particles, Gator Alley Band, Hot For Teacher, and the Alameda All Stars.
Jimmi’s musical roots run long and deep. His grandfather helped form and played the guitar for The Sons of the Pioneers, and his mother is a fantastic singer. Jimmi realized his musical talent at the very early age of 5 while playing trumpet and piano, which he continued playing until he picked up a guitar at the age of 10; the rest is history. His musical influences include the likes of KISS, Rush, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Deep Purple, Steve Vai, Y&T, Miles Davis, Yngwie Malmsteen and Van Halen. His musical tastes span far and wide, across many musical oceans!
