Election 1 is now available as a free, legal download on Wowio. com!Unfortunately, the site is only available to people living in the States, so yours truly hasn’t gotten a chance to download anything off the site. Hopefully that will be changed soon. Issue 2 should be added shortly after the weekend.

So, I realized that I've scarcely updated this blog - and my entire Myspace, for that matter - over the past few months. Hopefully we can do something about that in the near future.

I guess the biggest thing to happen this fall was my trip to Egypt with my Dad and Grandpa. We went for two weeks and for six days stayed with a friend of my Dad's in Cairo and saw the pyramids and lots of other neat stuff. For the rest of the time, we took a boat cruise from Luxor to Aswan up the Nile and saw around ten ancient Egyptian temples. The trip was a whirlwind of amazing sights and experiences - I'm still taking it all in after getting home the night before last. It was really interesting to get a glimpse at not only the ancient stuff, but also the current social and political situation in Egypt. It's a bit bleak, to be honest, but still interesting and something I didn't really know much about.

So, the trip was definitely up there in the list of Best Moments so far. Now, I get the aftermath, which consists of jetlag and a backlog of schoolwork. Huzzah. I also have to get back into drawing regularly. I've fallen a bit behind drawing The Tonic Tramp one-shot, which I was expecting to finish over the summer. Oh well.

Oh, on an unrelated note, I'm bathing in awesome graphic novels - I'm halfway through the first volume of The Invisibles, I just picked up Popgun volume 1, and I've re-read Watchmen and Promethea. Very good stuff.

Anyways, that's about it for the moment. Ciao.

Well...that was awesome.

This con was my first as an exhibitor, so I had absolutely no idea what to expect. I went in to the con thinking "all right, if I manage to sell anything, I'll be happy". Friday was a bit slow starting off, which was discouraging at first, but when I got a chance to talk to some other exhibitors in Artist Alley, they said Friday was sort of the browsing day for most people.

Saturday and Sunday were much busier, and I had a total blast. I got the chance to meet a whole lot of Canadian artists and comic lovers, many of whom I plan to look up on deviantART. There are a number of fun little moments, such as a drunk, middle-aged looking man asking me to sketch him a bear on a jet pack, and a bitter goth girl looking absolutely offended when I mentioned I was selling things (yes, God forbid someone sells comics at a comic book convention - I'm such a conformist :P).

What I also loved about the con was all the outrageous costumes, including a dwarf dressed as the puppet from Saw while riding a tricycle. I've got loads of pictures that I'll hopefully get to upload tonight or tomorrow.

So, at the end of it all, I managed to get rid of most of the stuff I brought to sell, which was incredibly cool.
I've got photos on Facebook here: http://hs.facebook.com/album.php?aid=4111&l=5cf60&id=501863446

Hey, folks!
I'm currently working on a really neat one-shot fantasy comic called The Tonic Tramp, out this year at some point from Ronin Studios. The comic's written by Jostle Times, who worked with Victor Cabanelas last year on The Allotted Witch. It's one of the first times, ever, where I've worked from a script that wasn't my own. Wasn't sure how I would find the experience, but I love it so far!

Here are the first two pages:

Well, after quite the learning experience with Paypal and UPS, I'm proud to say that the initial print run of Election #1 is in my hands! It's been a long time coming, and it's a wonderful feeling to have them. I'm also happy because I've checked over to be sure, and there are NO typos! Yay (fun fact: typos/grammatical errors are a death sentence for independent comics)! For inquiring minds, Election #1 is the series' set-up issue - it establishes the status quo and characters of the series, and plants the seeds for the plots I'll be exploring over the next three issues. So if you don't find the issue doubling your heart rate, not to worry - it gets better from here. :D

Indyplanet is down because of their long-awaited server switcheroo, but when the issue goes up on their site, I'll let you guys know.

I'd like to take a moment to thank Diana Greenhalgh for green-lighting the series and being really supportive and helpful over the course of its development. Stay tuned for more updates…

Hey everyone!
Usually, the only con I hit during the summer is the Fan Expo in Toronto, but this year, I'm also planning on making it to Wizard World Chicago! I haven't gone there in three years, but I'm really looking forward to it. Depending on how things play out, I might be helping out at the Ronin Studios booth.

We'll see how things develop! :)
