I'm making a reference list to help promote myself in the music industry.
If you have heard me sing in front of an audience or have a special situation you'd like to mention, please share it by sending me an e-mail to mandy.poolo@gmail.com.
If possible after your comments, please include details such as your name, where/in what situation or capacity you've heard me sing, the approximate date, and if you would recommend me for any future singing opportunities.  If you have any personal suggestions for me about anything please put those in parentheses "( )".

If you know anyone who has heard me sing, that may be able to pass along a compliment, please tell them to contact me at the above e-mail and tell them about my myspace page to hear my audio clips!

Thank you,
Mandy Poolo

The unofficial high note of the night award went to Mandy Poolo of Bolingbrook, who nearly matched Christina Aguileras voice on a version of Beautiful that brought Starr, the bands usual lead singer, to her feet in appreciation.

Poolo shared her secret for hitting high notes.

Honestly, I grew up listening to Mariah Carey, she said. There are a lot of Mariah Carey notes in that song, but I cant sing them all. I took gospel choir vocal classes, and they train you how to use your voice: drink lukewarm water, no acids unless you have a cold. Also, keep your throat warm.

More contest corner Unfortunately, we went to print the night before the finals of the Karaoke Idol contest, which has been ably hosted by our friend Bartman (no not me, the other Bart).

At press time in mid-January, there were 10 contestants set to duke it out in the finals at OMalleys in Aurora. We can tell you who made it to the finals: Mandy Poolo, LaRonda Thomas, Barry King, Michael Wilson, Gina Heath, Tyree Bell, Steve Kenny...

ME!  Yeay!  I won at Harrah's Joliet Casino singing John Lennon's "Imagine" on Beatle night....  and I met some pretty amazing people that night.

I wonder what's going to happen next.

I was born 3/18/83 from a single woman without a plan. My first song supposedly was "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". I don't really remember how old I was, but if I had to guess, I'd say 3. But everyone always says that. I have an old halarious recording of myself singing "Love Shack" at the age of 8. My first public performance would be during 2nd grade as a side choir for some play back at Independence in Bolingbrook, IL. As I got other, I kept singing. I scored my first solo in middle school singing that "Mine" song from Pocahontas. "The Gold of Ortez... the Rules of Pazarro...", "It's Mine Boys, Mine for the Making...". I suppose I was the only one that could pull it off right, cause all the others had pretty girly voices, (which I was jealous because I secretly really wanted one of the popular songs that the other 2 girls received). H.S. followed with more choir, all four years, and luckily I scored my own entire song during the POPS Concert at Romeoville High School singing Mariah Carey's "Make It Happen". It was amazing. The audience loved it and the following school day I had people come up to me that didn't know I could sing because in choir, I blended with the rest. Isn't that what you're or we're supposed to do? College. College. College. At Denison University in Granville, Ohio, I joined the African American Gospel choir and stayed in it for every semester there. I enjoyed it so much that I went with a few students in the choir to Portugal to sing four public concerts. It was an experience beyond description. I met amazing people. There's just too much to tell... I met a famous Brazlian Lation Band there, in which the night before had clapped for me as I embarrassedly approached the elevators to my room. The next night, I identfied them at this club next door to the hotel in which we were invited back stage and sung "One Sweet Day" with the lead singer of "EVA" I believe who knew no English whatsoever. I haven't been able to find any info on them, so I'm wondering if I heard the name wrong. Also... at one performance, I felt the spirit of God and thought the reverand was giving me the okay or "calling me out"... so I ran out on the stage and danced and sang my bootie off. Oh man, did I make controversy. Some said good for me. Others were pissed. But eh, I really thought God told me to do it. It wasn't for selfish intentions. HA! After college, I've just been randomly working with people. Unfortunately, I haven't met anyone recently to work on projects. I miss singing, so please find me! Also, you can occasionally find me singing karaoke.... I'll try to remember to say when or where I'm going next!
