helloo GWB myspace chums,

long time no hear from me. reeeaally sorry. i'm currently running round the country supporting Florence & The Machine, in my other, more 'day-like' job.

buut, i'm still doing GWB. absolutement. i've got some new songs ready to go, will endeavour to record them as well as i can, and get them out there. pinky swear.

in the meantime, here's a little blog tidbit. this guy really liked a song i made on a broken 8 track years ago. sweet.

Hey! i've got a new single out! it's a split 7", on the classy Slumberland label. lovely swirly vinyl. one side is by the excellent welsh pop kids The School, covering a Left Banke song (tasty!). the other is by yours truly. there's a link to buy the single direct from the label on my myspace. if you're not that way inclined, it's also available at Boomkat and Norman. It's available at Rough Trade, and if you're a Toon resident, i stuck several copies in RPM and Alt Vinyl. i've also got copies, if anyone wants to, like ask me, and shit. toodle pip xx

A-holla! Holla holla holla! How's things and shit? i'm quite good? i've been putting off writing this, well, not putting off per se, just waiting for the appropriate time so that i can, y'know, cogitate and whatnot.

things have got even more intense like with the Heartstrings. we played a thoroughly rinsed out LDN show last tuesday, at Madame Jojos 'erotic revue' bar, with the fantasmagorical Your Twenties. the strippers weren't on duty, though some doubled up as roadies. it's weird to see Chastity Yields with a giant set of keys hanging off her garter, a Maglite, tapping a snare drum. strange scenes inside the goldmine...

anywez, the Slumberland single is coming THE FUCK OUT! like NEXT WEEK! properly in the US, that is. it's available here in a few of the good online shops (Norman, Boomkat etc), i think Rough Trade have some copies in too. I'm getting 50, so i'll bung some in various shops in the towns i flit through on my travels. AAAND- for all the people who asked for an EP, and i never got my shit together enough to bung them one, i WILL send a single along with the EP. 2 for the (Katie) price of one, people! that's over 9 Euros worth of music! i'm too good!

so, in between biz meetings, i'm still doing this music thing (oh yeah, i'm all about the love). i've heard the mastered versions of the 2 JoFo songs i mixed, and they sound THOROUGHLY POP. the whole album is an epic.

I'm remixing Gaggle. who are Gaggle, you ask? if i described them as '20 women dressed in New Rave Burquas, screaming a cappella about cigarettes, being attacked by crows and a sexual attraction to guitars', i wouldnt' be doing their mad awesomeness justice. go check them out

 www.myspace.com/gagglespace

your life will never be the same again. you'll probably never sleep with the lights off again.

there's some things that are happening in the nearish future, GWB things, things that excite the very core of me. can't talk about it now though. THEY might be watching.

hey hey hey hey!

how are you? enjoying the weather? it's pretty overcast up here. i'm enjoying riding round on my hipster bike, all the same...

anyway. here's what i'm doing. REALLY REALLY sorry i haven't sent out the EPs to those who asked- things have gone MENKLE with the other pop combo i'm involved in. i'll get round to posting this week. Like Boyz II Men, i swear.

And a few people (Ben) have asked me, because of all the craziness, whether GWB is on the backburner, or since i play J Xaverre stuff at the Halleys Comet style shows i do, am i not J Xav anymore? Well, nothing could be further from the truth. I've always done lots of stuff concurrently- and the fact is, GWB has always taken ages to release records. since it's me doing everything, i like to let it stew around in the old brainbox for a while. doing the Heartstrings lets me use a different part of me brain; it's a different thing- equally good, but different.

there are plans for future GWB activity, rest assured. in fact, starting pretty much immediately (well, August). After a bloody long while, the split Slumberland single with the School, is out August. if i get sent any copies, i'll let you know. more news as i get it.

as for other stuffs, been doing a little work on the next Johnny Foreigner album. mixed 2 songs, both are POP HITS. it's out in the Autumn, look for it in the racks. recording Les Cox Sportifs doing some stuff that only they seem to know the true, nefarious purpose of. Good for them. mixing the Lost Souvenirs album over the next few months. and the Heartstrings will record some new stuff, i swears.

if anyone wants some production stuff doing, i might have some time here and there. hit me up.

i'll get back soon, about the Slumberland single, when i know more.

cheers

Pete

holla

just a quick note about something i totally forgot about, and have been reminded of.

in December 2007, Maximo Park did their biggest UK headline show at Newcastle Arena (i can't remember the corporate sponsor of the place- Metro Radio? it will always be "teh Chas Chandler Memorial Stadium" to me).

anyways, i played on a coupla songs. it was filmed, and is coming out as part of the special edition of their new rekkkid. I may not even be on it, as i haven't seen it. i think i am though. i mean- it's me. anyway, it was a fun nite, and here's a link to buying the thing.

Hey there campers,

A myspace ad was just asking me who the true patron saint of England was. the picture next to it seemed to suggest it was Cheryl Tweedy-Cole. i'm still on the fence.

Anywez, how are you? you look like you've lost some weight. enjoying the spring? I am, although i'm mostly getting a studio tan these days. Here's a rundown on what's a'happ...

_-__-------__--_____--__-___-___--____-__-______-_____------___-_____--__--__-_--

The Internet Forever tracks are done, done and done. it was fun, and i think it captures their crusty Casiotone vibe quite nicely. "Cover The Walls" is up now at www.myspace.com/internetforever for yr listening pleasure. another one- "Break Bones"- was given it's world premier on Huw Stevens Radio 1 program last week- swank! check it out on the BBC iPlayer kerjigger doodad. i think they still plan to release them at some point, but don't ask me when, i just work here...

__--__--__-_-__-_-__------__-_-___-___--__-_-_--_--_----_-_--_-_---_--__--__--

The remix of Sky Larkin's "Antibodies" is too, indeedy, dusted. it's one of the Bsides on the next single, which is coming out on the chic (in 1982) format of Cassette. Yes, Cassette. I think it will be available for download too, but again, nobody tells me nuffink. I've revived the J Xaverre nonclamenture for it, and i think i'll be using that for all future getting my funk on duties.

-__--___--__--__-_____--__-___--__---_____---__-_-__------___--___--____----____

As part of a Prison Work-Release program, i've been working with a band called Frankie And The Heartstrings. think The Modern Lovers, BoDeans, early Creation, Late Postcard. in Tweeds and Jodphurs(sp?). early daze, but i think they could be something specialmente. check them out in various sexy poses at the link in my top frenz.

--__--_____---_--_-_--___-___-_--_-_--__-___---__-__-___--___-___-___-___--___-__

In my deep and booming FUTURE VOICE i will now tell you of things that are on the horizon.

the GWB ep (World Exclusive! It's called "EP"!) is going to be out REALLY REALLY SOON, i swear. the artwork mockup looks coo-el, so look out for that.

I'm possibly doing some co- writing with one artist, and have an album mix on the horizon. both are really cool peeps, but i can't really say much more right now (politics, yknow). needless to say, i hope it works out on both counts, and i'll say more as and when i can.

-__-__-__-_____---__--___---___-__----____--___-______-_____-____--------___--__-_

and that's my life, as it stands. you?

Hey everyone,

how are you doing? what are you doing? well stop it now, and read this.

I haven't written anything in awhile as i've been working on stuff. or sorting stuff out to work on. Oh, you want examples, you say?

OK, well first off, i'm mixing a record with Pens (www.myspace.com/penspenspenis).the album's called "hey Friend, What Are You Doing", and it's a 15 track lo-fi pop masterwork. keep watching the racks!

I'm going to record a single with Internet Forever ( www.myspace.com/internetforever) at some point in feb. that will, i believe, be very good.

I did some more with B>E>A>K. one of the new songs is up on their myspace page. it's beaktastic.

I recorded with a new band called Frankie and The Heartstrings, we did them in a freezing cold bar, no less. they're very good, kinda Modern Lovers-y. check them out in my top friends, nee less.

there's some other production based things on the horizon that are possibly too early to discuss in great detail right now. they're exciting things. suffice to say, that when they occur, these events will shake the foundations of popular music to it's very core. so watch this space...

I've just got the multitrack parts to remix "Antibodies" by Sky Larkin, who incidentally THOROUGHLY RINSED last night at the ICA. so that will be something to behold, when i, like, finish it.

The next GWB ep is getting mastered. Or is mastered. i'm unsure of the tense it currently exists in. anyway, the artwork's getting sorted too, so that should be upon us soonish too.

The Slumberland split will be out around the same time, probably.

I'm going to try and get the next full length GWB record out this year. it's a concept album. i think i said this already. like the EP and single, it may come out on an Obamaland based label, maybe not. i'm no seer.

and this is the part where i run out of things to say. er, i'm reading "The Yiddish Policemen's Union" by Michael Chabon- s'very good, if you enjoy that alternative history genre. i was given the Criterion Edition DVD of "Bottle Rocket". brilliant film (thanks Drew and Amy). I also enjoyed 'The Guatemalan Handshake" directed by Todd Rohal, starring Will 'Bonnie Palace' Oldham (star of 'Old Joy', which is one of my faves ever). Music wise, it's all about scratchy lofi rockers. Times New Viking. Wavves. The Clean. you know the drill.

I saw Les Dennis in the street the other day. He seemed troubled.

As you were.

xx

Helloa everyonea,

thanks to the people who came to the moshi/wichita xmas party at the Hoxton Bar & Kitchen, what where i dj'ed for a bit. i had a really good time and too much Jagermeister. I finally met Sky Larkin, and they are really lovely people.

I've found that i'm getting asked to do more producing and recording of other people's music. aside from the aforementioned B>E>A>K record, there's a few more things in the pot. Some who are in my top friends, some who are not.

And since we're all moving into new territory and that, i thought i should say it out loud; anyone in the Greater London area is looking for some recording being done, please consider Wang Computers.

I've built up a fair bit of gear over the years (see the Myspace down at the bottom for full list), and a fair bit of expertise. I'm fully moblie, so you provide the space, i provide the audio capture.

be aware I'm just doing it on a very very part time basis, and i generally only take on stuff that i find personally interesting.

oh, and prices are negotiable.

ok, ad over.

this will probably be my last mail before the new year, so thanks everyone, merry christmas and a hippy neu yeer. see you soon. xx
