This song and three more will appear on a 12" split with the mighty Alehammer. The name for the split will be: Hell to pay. Cover art by Justin Bartlett. Out soon on Agipunk!

Today it's exactly one year since we created our MySpace site, and so you could say that Tyrant have existed equally long.
We were in Peters studio and recorded some songs, real music, that we want to listen to ourselves when we're in the studio drinking. This was music just for us, it wasn't something we planned on releasing, we didn't even have a name for the band. But we decided to put up some songs on something called MySpace and then we decided that we would go under the name Tyrant, and a logo was created in five minutes at the most. We continued recording songs, not knowing what was going on in cyberspace. All of a sudden we were bombarded by mails and "friends" that wanted to hear and know more. We got several offers from the so-called big companies, but we turned them down. We didn't want the whole thing to get to big. Initially we also turned down Listenable Records. But after a long mail from the owner, who shared our opinion about music, we changed our minds. The rumour about Tyrant's dirty music had spread like wildfire among the well-polished productions. Reclaim the Flame was about to show its ugly face to the world!
Now, one year later, shitloads of people have visited our site, our album has been out a few months, we've toured across Europe and met all of you great people, been interviewed by most metal magazines and even got ourselves a new sponsor. And all this from a band who hasn't even made a demo... Tyrant is here to stay, but we will always keep it raw, simple and ugly!
We can reveal that we will release a 10-inch split and a 7-inch split later this year. We've already been booked for a few festivals in Europe this summer and a few gigs as well.
So, raise your cups, Tyrant is here, drink to that, break your neck, blow out your ear!
Cheers bastards! //Tyrant

After giving the album "Reclaim the flame" 9 out of 10 in their review, the German magazine Rock Hard published an interview with D.F.Bragman about a month ago. When we were playing at Matrix in Bochum, Germany we got a copy of the number from the editor of Rock Hard. But when we had a german girl translate the interview to english, we found out that they had changed the interview completely, both questions and answers. The result sounded ridiculous and for a band that prioritize honesty, it was quite irritating and we set things straight with the editor. So for those who want to read the REAL interview, here it is (word by word):
R.H: Hey Folks! TYRANT seems to be rising up out of nowhere, how come to base a band like this?
D.F.B: Well, it was nothing we planned, it just happened. We have known each other for many years and the band that was to become Tyrant was something we had talked about and been wanting to do for a long time. Tyrant was created when we finished recording the new The Black album in studio Beast, owned by P.Bjärgö. I don't see Tyrant as a band with a mission to save this sinking ship of mass-produced music, it's more about questioning it, because nobody else does. We are simply pissed off about the development in music today and Reclaim the flame is a result of that. We are here to ignite the old flame.
R.H: People say that TYRANT is the essence of old tarts like Dellamorte and The Black! Can you get along with this statement?
D.F.B: Tyrant consists of members from The Black, Meanwhile, Arcana, Insision, Vinterland…etc. D. Ekeroth, the man behind the book Swedish Death Metal and Dellamorte, is our latest addition. So now we are four members. P.Bjärgö on guitar, D. Ekeroth on bass, A. Jonsson on drums and myself on vocals.
R.H: It seems the main goal of TYRANT is to be ugly, mean and dirty. Your first full-length "Reclaim the flame" stands for very old-school death/thrash/groove/whatever. How would you describe your sound & backround to create that music?
D.F.B: Beauty doesn't belong in this particular kind of music, that's it. I mean, what the fuck have flutes, vampire teeth, 3D effects, clown paintings, tribal swords, coloured eye lenses, synthesizers and everything else that destroyed the raw and ugly in music, to do with black metal? People seem to put their trust in spotless, over-produced digital recordings, and we hate it. I don't understand why they persist in calling it black metal when they are doing their best to beautify the music. Our original aim was to create a mix between early Bathory and Discharge. You can hear it loud and clear in the first two songs we made. In "Restart with the number 6.6.6" you can hear some classic Bathory chords combined with the filthy, straightforward attitude of Discharge. "The Rebirth" is more or less a renewal of "The Return", which also became the main theme of the album – Reclaim the flame. We want it to be real and honest. We made the songs, recorded them live, most of them in just one take and barely mixed them. The album was completed in 26 hours. We didn't remove the recording noise on the album. Our goal was to stick to the first take, whether it turned out the way we had planned or not. Almost all of the songs on the album are first takes. You can hear us talking in the background, the sound of a beer can opening, when the drummer puts his stickers down, guitar noise and so on. I often say that when others try to do a pink movie with a happy ending, Tyrant is like a documentary in black and white.
R.H: You´ll be going on tour with Swedish Watain and Impiety!? Would be more than a ugly tour I guess!?
D.F.B: No, we're going on a tour around Europe with Gorgoroth and Enthroned in nov-dec.
R.H: In case you had the chance to change something in the todays music scene, what would be the first thing to make different?
D.F.B: Well, there are a lot of things that are wrong with music-making today. But the main thing is the attitude towards music. If you want the real thing, you have to be honest with yourself and you need to question it. There are no shortcuts when it comes to creating music, art, films or whichever creative occupation it might be. When it comes to Tyrant, we remove all the extra crap and try to focus on the actual core of the music. Metal acts today try to save their music by adding layer on layer on it. Black metal acts try to save their music by adding more and more paint on their faces. But it's not only the musicians. The positive attitude towards mass-produced music is also another big crack in the hull of this sinking ship. When it comes to black metal today, people generally have very low standards and keep consuming everything as long as they look like two-dollar crack whores and the singer screams like a pissed off Donald Duck. So I guess we're stuck with all the crappy bands as long people buy it, at least for now.
R.H: How do you see the Swedish Death/Black Metal scene nowadays? Would you say that bands like Interment, Evocation, Death Breath and Insision could change the world of "modern melodic metal from Sweden"?
D.F.B: There's a change going on here in Sweden, most of the bands go back to their roots, instead of desperately trying to create something new, and that's good.
R.H: Tell me what a young metal-head should do and not become a metalcore-guy these days?
D.F.B: Don't understand the question…

Just back after the long tour with Enthroned and Gorgoroth.
We haven't been able to check our site during the tour, but we've read all the messages and comments now and really appreciate them, cheers!
For a band that's existed only 10 months we're really surprised at the huge support and great feedback we got along the roads. Almost every night was sold out and it was great to meet all you people out there. We especially want to thank those who travelled really far from other countries just to see Tyrant, hope it was worth it!
The main theme on this tour was: chaos. The worst days was in London. It started with the bus breaking down at 6 o'clock in the morning just when we were about to board the ferry from France to the UK. After missing several ferries, we were finally able to put all of our stuff in our new temporary bus, that only had seats, no berths. We finally arrived to London, several hours late, but then the bus driver lost the address to the venue on his GPS, so we got there even later. Stressed as hell, we finally started the show without a soundcheck, but turns out the sound guy had managed to tune in the worst sound ever (coming for us, thats says a lot...). And on top of it all, D. Ekeroths bass broke right in the middle of the gig. The show in London was shit, but we'll come back to show the true face of Tyrant!
Lastly we'd like to thank Gorgoroth + crew for all the support and for being such good company. We're not even gonna mention how much alcohol we downed together...
If you have Tyrant pics from the tour, feel free to mail them to: tyranttour07@passagen.se
Hope to see you again soon! /Tyrant
