In 2009 we will be hosting a series of gatherings called theBurn, which will be weekends of non-stop worship, fasting and prayer for the city of Greenville. There will be worship bands, musicians, singers and prayer leaders from our region taking shifts for 1-2 hours and we will keep the fire burning all night! Events could last 6 to 10 to 20 to 30 hours depending on how much support we can get. The first Burn will be January 23-24 at St. Paul Church. If you would like to be a part of this event, please contact us through prayforgreenville.org.

God spoke to me last year that I would be like Hezekiah. I knew before I was 25 years old, He would use me to help bring restoration and revival to the temple of God (body of Christ) in Greenville. I was not sure exactly what this would look like, but David's tent gave me a bit of an idea - day and night worship, personal consecration, music, creativity, priesthood ministry, unity, intimacy with Yah. I will turn 25 at midnight tonight, and at that moment I will be sitting in a prayer room in the Baptist Campus Ministry building at East Carolina University. I have included some photos of the prayer room below. Students and faculty (and other believers) have been praying in there almost constantly since Sunday night. I am just watching and laughing at what God has done. This really has nothing to do with us. It is all about the glory of Jesus. What an amazing journey this past year to get to this point, and I still get the feeling of "new beginning." Then Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced that God had prepared the people, since the events took place so suddenly. - II Chronicles 29:36

The BURN is continuous ministry to God for the well-being of the city of Greenville, on October 31 especially for the downtown/campus area. Worship leaders, musicians and intercessors will be taking shifts to keep worship and prayer "burning" for 12 hours. (The name BURN was borrowed from a worldwide day and night worship ministry called Burn 24/7 – see www. theburn247. com for more details on their ministry.) Schedule with worship leaders and intercessors is coming soon.
Locat ion: Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church (510 S Washington St, downtown Greenville, NC). We will be meeting upstairs in the youth room. Enter by the playground and look for the BURN signs on the door.
Time: 4pm Friday – 4am Saturday (There will be no re-entry after midnight! For security reasons, the doors will be locked at midnight. Please come before midnight and stay until the end.)
Ages: All ages until 8pm (under 18 accompanied by an adult). After 8pm, adults 18 and over ONLY.
Worship Leader Schedule:4:00-5:00pm - Shepard Lilley 5:00-7:00pm - Vision Caster Ministries 7:00-8:00pm - Fernando de Urqidi 8:00-9:00pm - TBA 9:00-11:00pm - Beaty Bass11:00pm-12:00am - Collide Ministries12:00am-1:00am - James Bellamy (drum and percussion only - bring your own hand drums!)1:00am-2:00am - Matthew LilleyWorship and prayer leaders who are involved come from various local churches and ministries including Vision Caster Ministries, 6:22 Ministries, Jarvis Memorial UMC, Greenville Christian Fellowship, Victory Campus Ministries, Collide Ministries, St. Peter's Catholic Church, Potter's Place Church of God and Open Door Ministries. What the BURN IS:- Priesthood Ministry to God. The primary purpose is to spend time in the presence of God ministering to Him. Most church events are centered on ministering to ourselves or others, and the priesthood ministry is overlooked. God is looking for those who will stand the gap for Greenville. Come ready to be face-to-face with God, to be loved by Him, to hear His voice, to worship Him and to love Him in response. From this place of nearness to His heart, we will offer petitions and intercession for Greenville.
- Fast. Fasting and prayer go hand in hand, and when we are embarking on such an intense mission, fasting is vital to success. Coffee, water and other drinks will be available at the Burn, but no food is allowed at the gathering.
- City-Wide Gathering. "City-wide" simply means we are open to, and want to serve the whole body of Christ in this region, as opposed to one particular church or group.
- Adult Event. For security purposes, because we will be so close to downtown, we are requiring everyone under 18 to be gone by 8pm.
What the BURN IS NOT:- Evangelistic Ministry. We are not trying to attract unbelievers to our meetings. We want to petition the Holy Spirit to work on people's hearts (prepare the ground) in ways that no man can do. We are also trying to intercede for those evangelizing so those called to evangelism walk in effective power. Evangelism is a vital ministry in the body of Christ. However, the calling on this event is "behind the scenes" prayer and intercession.
- Place to Come "Be Blessed". If you attend, come to bless the Lord and to bless Greenville. Come to give and to serve. There will be no scheduled speakers or preaching. The focus is upon God.
- Halloween Alternative. This is not a Christian fun night with snacks and games (although we are not bashing those events). This is a time of fasting and praying and worshipping Jesus.
- Youth Event. This is not a youth rally or a lock-in. Those under 18 must be supervised by an adult, and everyone under 18 must be gone by 8pm for security reasons.
Specific Prayer Needs- Harmony Church. They will be having designated drivers at Unk's bar on Cotanche St. Praying for divine connections and opportunities for one-on-one ministry and revelation of Christ's love.
- Campus Christian Fellowship. They are giving away dinner as people head downtown as a way to show God's love and to hopefully help slow down the intoxication process. Praying for open doors for ministry as they pass out food and a supernatural lack of drunkenness.
- Other Evangelists. Praying for a true representation of Jesus' love and compassion and an honest presentation of the Gospel. Pray for sobriety and open hearts to receive from God. Praying for a spirit of wisdom and revelation so that eyes will be opened (Ephesians 1).
- Police Officers. Praying for NO violent crimes, safety for our entire city, and wisdom & grace for the police officers.

What is Harp & Bowl? And when He had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty- four elders fell down before the Lamb, having each one a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. –Revelation 5:8 "Harp & Bowl" intercessory worship is taken from Revelation 5:8 where, in heaven before the Father's throne, the 24 elders come with a Harp (worship with music) and a Bowl (prayers of the saints - intercession). The goal of harp & bowl intercessory worship is to come together with others in our area for prayer and worship before the throne of God for the ultimate purpose of changing the spiritual atmosphere. As the spiritual atmosphere changes and as God's glory is displayed through us, God will bring the multitudes into His Kingdom. Harp & Bowl is about ministering to the Lord and falling in love with Him. Then, as we cry out the prayers of His heart, He responds out of a passion and fervency for us, His Bride. The Holy Spirit is orchestrating a prayer strategy far eclipsing any other prayer movement in the history of our city. This prayer movement will result in an unprecedented harvest of souls. We are moving towards continual prayer meetings non-stop 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is a city-wide ministry of worship and intercession – one of the many expressions of the House of Prayer that God will raise up here in this city/region of Greenville and the surrounding cities. "City-wide" simply means we are open to, and want to serve the whole body of Christ in this region, as opposed to one particular church or group. (Taken from http://www.churchinthecity.com/harp&bowlpic.htm) For more information about this worldwide movement we encourage you to check out www.24-7prayer.com, www.ihop.org and the book Red Moon Rising by Peter Greig.
