When we did the Buzz More Crave part of the deal was that everything was going to be tossed in. Every instrument, every weird audio clip, samples of ourselves from other points in time and it ended up working.

In looking back, it's hard to think that a lot of stuff relied on specific equipment, not all of which was as heavily used again. Some of it is in storage and I really miss it.

The Triadex Muse, Lexicon Vortex, Eventide H3000S, Akai S950, E-Mu Morpheus, Sony M7, Max (which was probably still an Opcode product), Minimoog, Waterphone.

I wonder if we were to use all of these specific things again whether the over all vibe would be the same.

What we had used both for our earliest recordings and our new album is a project studio that was in Tommy DOG's childhood home.

When The Boom Boom Room closed around 1999 all of the actual equipment and instruments were reinstalled in that tiny room. Friends kept giving us stuff and we kept buying and collecting. In the end the studio was a work of art in all senses.

Just before we found out we were losing the space we were about to redesign the space adding a better network for the computers, an interactive video instrument and a mid sized modular Moog.

With our plans now useless and our options limited we turned to our most recent sessions and banged into place what would be Life Inbetween a very live sounding band album.

Today the pressure is lifting. The bills are mounting but we did everything that could be done and that's more then most folks can say.

Here at The Brain People camp things have been busy.

Our new album is almost finished, a free web single that is not on it is coming sooner then later. Just in case anyone is wondering, this one is very live, loud and fucking ugly as shit.

We wanted to create a studio project that was a real document of what we sound like as a band warts and all. Many can claim that they "tried" to do this, I think it's different if the band has the pure caveman performance noise muscle that we have.

Remixes from our back catalog are being done by Paul Roessler and we'll see what that turns into. We are also looking into something really special for our 25th anniversary which is coming up 12.12.06

As we leaked a while back we are moving out of our studio space and will be without an actual "personal" studio of our own for at least a year. The good news is we may not even do anything to support this album like a normal band would.. Hell we probably won't even see each other.

Actually there's talk of something in SF in October, but we are still talking logistics, legalities, etc. We will still entertain offers of money for the right one off gig.

As you very own Pop-a-Brain, I wish you all a restful time until we come a get you.

There are some of us who don't dream of fancy cars or having a lot of bread. We dream simple dreams. The kind of thing that makes life truely magical. As a New Yorker I spend a great deal of time eyeing the piles of trash on the street. I've had some great finds, old hi-fi equipment that I was able to sell and buy guitars with, all kinds of odds and ends. Records are not uncommon to find but today I found a really odd collection. I pulled about 50 of the choice items. The records ranged from Exotica to Lounge and Easy Listeing to Lounge-Psyche and instructional. The few Rock records were ESP stuff, and a nice copy of Wolly Bully. I felt like I had stumbled into a hipster's dream thrift store find (pre-Ebay and Pre-Incredibly Strange Music) but it was clearly some old lady's stuff. Here was her collection, I left the Christmas records and the Classical for someone else and what was left was the wonderful cock eyed view of a person's listening habit that was now in the garbage because she was dead or her turntable finally gave up. I could write detailed descriptions of rare Les Baxter, strange spoken word recordings of ghosts and neo hippie stuff put out on budget labels that I'd never heard of but your imagination would probably have more fun picking through those things your self.

It's amazing how many folks are here. It's like a graveyard mixed with oldies reunion mixed with something that's really nice... I can't quite put my finger on it. That network of people that one wrote letters to, met outside shows, hung out with, used to be friends with and those friends of friends that you never knew but kept up with their well being or not so well being because you had friends in common are mostly here. BTW Where the hell is Howie Pyro? I mean I know "where he is" but why isn't he here yet? Or is he?

I opened up a myspace.com port as a means of connecting with other artists and musicians. It seems that so many folks of an older Punk Rock nature have migrated here and it's a nice thing to see all these people and in many cases the way that they have mutated. Will I write a lot of stuff? No, maybe.. I don't know. The internet has been kind of a toilet for me in some ways and in others it's a great place to communicate.
