Taylor Swift, 18, slammed the Jonas Bro, 19 for dumping her - in a 27-second phone conversation - for actress Camilla Belle.

Joe and his brothers, Kevin and Nick, responded with the following message on their official Web site:

It is our normal rule to avoid talking about our private lives. It seems that it has come to the point where we must address a few things. We would prefer to address these things and then leave it alone from that point forward.

We felt like it was important to respond because recent events have affected our fans. It is important to us as artists and brothers to enlighten regarding this situation. Our fans are the most important thing to us.

There are rumors and suggestions that are being publicized in the press right now about us. Like all people our age we are trying to find someone special that we can share time with in our busy lives. We all have busy schedules and high demands. We love our life and are thankful for all that we have. We are simply stating that it is difficult to maintain relationships with the kind of life we live.

We love our fans and it is important to us to protect that relationship.

To Our Fans from Joe:

This blog is not an attack of anyone. Anytime you are in a relationship for any length of time there are going to be issues. Sometimes they resolve. Other times they lead to a change of heart. This was the case recently.

Several things I will state with all my heart

I never cheated on a girlfriend. It might make someone feel better to assume or imply I have been unfaithful but it is simply not true. Maybe there were reasons for a breakup. Maybe the heart moved on. Perhaps feelings changed. I am truly saddened that anything would potentially cause you to think less of me.

For those who have expressed concern over the "27 second" phone call. I called to discuss feelings with the other person. Those feelings were obviously not well received. I did not end the conversation. Someone else did. Phone calls can only last as long as the person on the other end of the line is willing to talk. A phone call can be pretty short when someone else ends the call. The only difference in this conversation was that I shared something the other person did not want to hear.

There were later attempts at communication that had no response.

I wish the best for the other person but could not sit back any longer and leave our fans with a wrong impression of the truth.

Hope this helps enlighten a little.

This Halloween, there were many little girls dressed up as Hannah Montana. Costumes sold out at just about every major retailer and neighborhoods were filled with blonde wigs and sparkly outfits, complete with fake microphone. However, there was one costume that may not have been as popular, but certainly raised some eyebrows this weekend. Justin Gaston, Miley Cyrus's boyfriend, decided to dress up as Nick Jonas, her ex. Miley herself certainly didn't seem to mind as Justin spent the evening hanging out at the Cyrus home. He rocked out to a few Jonas Brothers tunes in her driveway and even handed out candy to kids trick-or-treating in the neighborhood.

It is slightly surprising that no one in the Cyrus camp found Gaston's costume tacky or inappropriate.  Miley's relationship (and breakup) with Nick Jonas was headline news for quite some time.  Recently, it's been reported that Miley and her boyfriend (who is 20-years-old) have been spending the night together in her house.  It seems that dad Billy Ray finds it easier to keep an eye on his daughter if she's under his roof.

Gaston was able to pull of his Halloween costume by dressing in Nick's signature look.  The brothers have become well known for their fashion sense and have launched behind-the-scenes look at the styles that inspire their look in MySpace Celebrity's fashion segment, "The Fit."  Their celebrity blog premiered on MySpace yesterday.

Miley has been known for poking fun at her Disney Channel friends.  Just this year, she and best friend Mandy Jiroux posted a YouTube video mocking Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato.  Miley later apologized, after coming under fire for it, saying that it was all in good fun.  With this most recent dig at her ex, Nick Jonas, one has to wonder if Miley's jokes are really meant to be all in good fun or just to make fun.

WASHINGTON — For the first time, astronomers think that they've found evidence of an alien solar system around a star close enough to Earth to be visible to the naked eye.

They say that at least one and probably three or more planets are orbiting the star Epsilon Eridani, 10.5 light-years — about 63 trillion miles — from Earth. Only eight stars are closer.

The host star, slightly smaller and cooler than our sun, is in the constellation Eridanus — the name of a mythological river — near Orion in the northern sky.

Epsilon Eridani is much younger than the sun, about 850 million years old compared with 4.5 billion years for our system.

"This really is a system like our solar system was when it was five times younger than it is now," said one of the discoverers, Massimo Marengo , an astronomer at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Mass. "It's like a time machine for our solar system."

"This system probably looks a lot like ours did when life first took root on Earth," said Dana Backman , of the SETI Institute in Mountain View, Calif. , the lead author of a report to be published Jan. 10 in The Astrophysical Journal .

SETI chose Epsilon Eridani as one of the first targets in its long — but so far vain — search for signs of extraterrestrial intelligence in 1960.

The suspected planets are too far away to be detected directly, so their presence has to be inferred by indirect measurements. Their star is so near, however, that some astronomers think that they may be able to see its planets with better telescopes within the next decade.

One of the planets, a gas giant 1 { times heavier than Jupiter, was discovered in 2000 by Barbara McArthur , an astronomer at the University of Texas in Austin . She measured the slight wobble in the star's position as the planet swung around it. Further observations by the Hubble Space Telescope in 2006 confirmed its existence, McArthur said at the time.

Now Backman's team has deduced the presence of at least two more planets, after space- and ground-based telescopes separately revealed two belts of rocky asteroids and an outer icy ring circling Epsilon Eridani.

The inner asteroid belt is about 280 million miles from its host star, the same distance as our own ring of asteroids orbiting between Mars and Jupiter. The second belt is about the same distance as Uranus is in our system.

Finally, a wide, third ring of icy objects extends billions of miles beyond Epsilon Eridani, resembling the so-called Kuiper Belt of mini-planets outside Pluto.

In 2002, Alice Quillen , an astronomer at the University of Rochester in New York state , reported that unusual clumps of material in the outer ring probably indicated the presence of a Saturn -size planet in a Pluto-like orbit. Her finding hasn't been confirmed, but "I still think there is a planet out there of this size," Quillen said in an e-mail.

According to Marengo, the gaps between these belts were created when clouds of dust and rocks consolidated into planets, as happened in the early days of our solar system. He likened the process to the formation of Saturn's famous rings, which are separated by spaces cleared out by little moons.

"The easiest way to explain the gaps is to say there are planets there," Marengo said. "It's the same way as the rings of Saturn are kept stable by the moons of Saturn."

"I think these rings are probably telling us about how systems clear out after planets have formed," Quillen said. "It's pretty exciting to catch such a nearby system in this critical stage."

Marengo raised the possibility that more Earthlike planets might exist in the space between Epsilon Eridani and the inner dust ring.

"The inside belt is cleared, like in our solar system," he said. "There could be terrestrial planets inside, but we can't detect them yet."

Online, the musical siblings rented out LA's Dodger Stadium on Thursday night from 10 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. to celebrate Nick's 16th birthday with some of their closest friends.

The guys were spotted shopping at Big 5 Sporting Goods earlier in the week loading up on athletic gear for the event, which is a good thing since it's probably not exactly easy to run the bases in the tight skinny jeans the Jonas Brothers typically wear!

So how much do you think this birthday bash cost? According to reports, upwards of $30,000. Just renting the field alone starts at around $25 grand! And since the guys were playing at night, they needed to pay an extra $5,000 to have the stadium lights turned on. If they wanted to eat, food and drinks ran them $500, and if they wanted to pump their own music through the speakers that would have cost them another $500.

If we're lucky, maybe we'll see the soiree on an episode of MTV's "My Super Sweet 16"!

Rumor has it that Miley Cyrus is being a total brat on the set of her hit Disney show, "Hannah Montana." Us Weekly notes that there have been reports the tween queen shows up incredibly late to the set. In addition to being tardy, she allegedly told Disney execs that she'll only shoot 12 of the 24 planned episodes of her new season. If that's true, who does this girl think she is? Yes, she's sold millions of albums. Yes, her program nabs big ratings for the channel. Yes, her merchandising makes millions. But, let's be real ... without Disney's financial and creative support, Miley would only be known as Billy Ray's 16-year-old daughter!

Of course, Miley and her staff of managers, handlers, and PR peeps claim these rumors are completely false. This is what Miley had to say:

We are making great new episodes that I can't wait for our fans to see and I'm looking forward to the 'Hannah Montana' movie that will be out in the spring."

To be honest, I'm not sure I believe her. Do you?

In any case, Miss Cyrus better be careful. Selena Gomez ("The Wizards of Waverly Place") and her BFF Demi Lovato ("Camp Rock") are already in prime position to dethrone Miley. It's not like Disney doesn't have a backup plan.

Someone has taken Kate Moss' role as fashion's golden girl rather literally.

British sculpture artist Marc Quinn is ready to unveil his latest creation to the world, a nearly $2.8 million, 110-pound solid gold statue of the supermodel, hyped as the largest such creation built since ancient Egypt.

Quinn, the artist behind 2006's Sphinx, a painted bronze statue of Moss in a somewhat provocative yoga pose, has dubbed his new golden girl Siren.

And the British Museum has already heeded its call.

While the venerable London museum has so far only released a closeup photo of the statue's face of the work, the work purportedly shows Moss, once again, in the same contorted yoga pose as before.

"I thought the next thing to do would be to make a sculpture of the person who's the ideal beauty of the moment," Quinn said of his fabulously excessive creation. "But even Kate Moss doesn't live up to the image."

The British public will be able to determine for itself whether the statue succeeds where Moss apparently failed, with the objet d'art going on display in the the same British Museum gallery that houses the institution's ancient Greek sculpture collection.

The statue will be on display from Oct. 4 through Jan. 25.

Disney star Demi Lovato's debut album, Don't Forget, may be full of upbeat songs, but she also has a dark side.

"I used to write [really dark] songs every night in my room – like, five or six a night – and I'd be up until 5 in the morning," she tells MTV News. "[Mom] would come up and say, 'So what are you writing?' I'd play her a song, and she'd go, 'Wow – go to therapy.' But it really is therapy for me."

Still, Lovato, 16, hopes that at least one song on her album (one she wrote herself) will resonate with her young audience.

"The song is about feeling insecure and just not feeling pretty, and I hope girls my age can relate to it, because I just felt like there needed to be a song about how not everyone has confidence," she says... --> jump -->

Lovato, who is touring with the Jonas Brothers, collaborated with the trio on one of the album's songs. "I would love to have their input anytime," she tells MTV, "because they're obviously doing something right."

So who is Lovato's dream duet? "I hope to do a collaboration with Kelly Clarkson," she admits. "[She] has been my idol growing up. [That] would be the biggest dream come true."

Don't Forget hits stores on September 23.

Pop star Madonna kicked off her international "Sticky and Sweet" tour in typical fashion, courting controversy with a none-too-subtle jab at U.S. Republican presidential candidate John McCain.

The 50-year-old star featured video images at her show in Cardiff, Wales. One slate of pictures showed destruction, global warming, Nazi leader Adolf Hitler and McCain as another more positive sequence featured the late Beatle John Lennon, Al Gore, Mahatma Gandhi and Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Outside of the political references, the show was replete with plenty of costumes and glitter.

Dancers graced the stage in top hats and tail coats as the singer breakdanced and did some pole dancing, too.

Forty thousand fans, many dressed in pink cowboy hats and boas, were treated to a flamenco-inspired version of La Isla Bonita and a heavy-metal rendition of Borderline.

The show traversed the gamut of Madonna's fashions over the past three decades with homages to the rave and dance scene, gangster styles and her earlier gypsy-like outfits.

Always self-referential, dancers were clothed in Madonna's previous incarnations including Material Girl and Blonde Ambition.

The performer finished off the concert with Give it 2 Me from her new urban-inspired album Hard Candy.

The tour hits Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver in October and will end in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Dec. 18.
