Here's a rough demo of a new song called "Hourglass" hope you enjoy it! Also, if you haven't heard our cover of the Deftones' "Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)" you should listen to it cause we're taking it down soon...

Hourglass

icing thick on the blade
and even as the bitterness comes, the sweetness remains
and even as i cut up my tongue i don't wanna pull away

i left behind the road that changed my life
i wear a permanent Cheshire cat smile
i trust no man
i love like the sand in my hourglass

and i can see it fall like a star
and i can feel it falling apart
and each grain that falls
be it fast or slow
breaks my heart
breaks my heart
breaks my heart

Nightwings

it's crazy, i'm not getting through
it's crazy baby, what a little moonlight can do
he had the night in his eyes
warm arms for wings
i could see they were clipped in the places
i could never reach
it's so disarming
romantic tragedy
go slow
it hurts more the deeper you go
let's keep it afloat
no one will know
that the price of a night cost us
a piece of our souls
let's leave it alone

......................................

Paradigm

blue eyed paradigm
the color you've been blessed with could melt me into ice
i've felt the weight of the world
drown by the sea
i've felt the waves that you cast
crest and crash on me
well i could keep sinking as long as you can believe

that whether or not we're connected
or living the life we're intended
i know one thing is certain
and whether or not we continue
or whether we burn when it's all through
i know it could be worth it

blue eyes...
can't you see?
the color you've been blessed with is poisoning me
this is the same old song
it's just a different key
these are the same old lines that have been coming out of me
well i could keep singing as long as i still believe

that whether or not we have earned it
or whether or not we deserve it
i know one thing is certain
if it all came crashing down
if we'd been better off without
i know it would be worth it

So, we want to sincerely apologize to those who came out to see us last week Saturday at Ladyfest and did not get to.

Everything was so unorganized and the people in charge (who weren't there) had some ridiculous last minute expectations...including signing a contract that held us liable for any accidents during our free performance.

Not only was the contract presented 10 minutes before we were supposed to play, but it was hardly readable and completely disrespectful to all the musicians there playing for free and raising money for their benefit. This is the responsibility of the party putting on such an event. I am  getting my degree in Law and was quite upset about the presentation of the paperwork on such short notice.

Anyhow, we are playing another show this coming Friday July 3, 2009 at The Rogue if you would still like to come see us play. We have some new songs that we are excited to share.

Hope to see you there!

Current mood:reminiscent

2009 marks Spindle's tenth year as a full band...and in the spirit of reflection, it seemed fitting that we should spend some time at the beginning…

Back to our land of volcanoes in the sea. Our Crucible…

Gina has spent the last few months in Hawaii working on our upcoming release with our friend Rob Tsuhako of Off The Rock Studios Maui (who also worked with us on our “hell hath no fury…” EP)

We have so much to tell you! We're putting forth a concerted effort to update our blog on a regular basis...so this is the first of our monthly updates.

We’ve been working like wild banshees on a new, more interactive Spindle website. We are creating a Spindle community just for you. You can check in whenever it tickles your fancy, or sign up for a free membership and we’ll send you an update when we've got something new to share, like any time we post a blog or upload a new song etc. Members will get exclusive access to benefits such as unreleased photos, candid videos, lyrics, downloads, and new songs in the making.

Don’t forget, you can still catch up with us on MySpace. And for those of you who don't do the MySpace thing, we're on Facebook too! Want the lowdown but don't have time to read our blog? We're also on Twitter! See how versatile and accommodating we are :o) so send us a tweet @Spindleband. We love hearing from you!

In addition to everything else, we've been working on all kinds of stuff for our upcoming release. Amber's been hard at work designing our album art…no peeking yet, but it's going to be incredible. We are still in the studio recording at Bayside Recording Studio in Bellingham, and Bear Creek Studio in Woodinville, while writing new songs along the way.

Maybe it's the act of coming home, the scent of nostalgia that lingers there for us; or maybe it's just Hawaii. Sea like stars, stars like sand, sand like silk. It's magnificent.

Anyway, whatever it is we're letting it fuel our muses. Along with writing new songs we have been quite inspired to revive some vintage ones that were written well before we relocated to Washington. All the threads are coming together, and it's creating something we're quite excited about...we can't wait to share these songs with you!

Speaking of sharing...we're starting to book a few shows for this summer...looking into playing some festivals and some shows along the west coast. We can't promise anything concrete, but if you have a venue suggestion/connection, or any place you’d like to see us play, feel free to drop us a line.

Well, that's about it for this update. 2009 is an important and exciting year for us. Ten years of creating together, of hoping together, of struggling together, of becoming who we are. It is a treacherous but worthwhile path to walk this wood. Not everyone sees this view, and we're thankful for those of you who have listened, encouraged, and offered the occasional candle to light our way. It hasn't been a simple journey, but it has been worth every second. One we will continue and celebrate this year and beyond. Music is our passion, but your love and support makes it that much more significant to let it be our life.

Much Love,
Spindle
