I always believed Bear was a wonderful person, and now he's gone and proved that to be true once again! Yesterday, much to my very delightful surprise, I received a package delivery. I didn't think anything of it, until I noticed it said "Royal Mail". As you can probably now guess, the kind and generous Bear sent me a lovely gift. He very thoughtfully sent me a copy of his new book "Born Survivor". As if the book wasn't amazing enough, he wrote a message inside of it for me. What an incredibly sweet gesture, and what an incredibly sweet man Bear is!!! Here is a little pic I took of the book:
Bear, Again I can't thank you enough. This is truly appreciated!! I'm enjoying every second of reading this. It's really a fabulous book.

From the start of this fan page I have received some messages regarding the validity of this page. It's understandable of course, with the number of Bear imposter pages, and those that just want you to believe Bear has some part of their page here at MySpace. I've done my best in explaining things as honestly as possible, but it's still perfectly understandable to me that some are going to have doubts. Apparently I haven't been the only one who has been questioned. Bear has been asked whether or not myself and this page are legit as well (via the GKN Mission Everest website blog), and fortunately, Bear has been kind enough to address this issue himself for me. For the answer, please feel free to follow this link (You'll find it mentioned at the bottom of this blog entry):
Bear's Definitive Answer
For those who may not wish to have to follow a link for the answer, this is what Bear said (I'm only quoting the content pertaining to this matter):
"Home from the Alps! 19/3/2007
PS: On another note I have had lots of questions asking me about a Myspace page managed by Melissa. This page has my blessing and I am in touch with Melissa to provide updates! Bear"
Edit - Here is a copy of a sweet compliment posted to the blog by someone named Sabrina (thanks kindly ), and Bear's equally sweet reply:
"Sabrina MI (20/03/2007 23:49:43)
I hope this puts everyone's mind at ease to finally have a definitive answer. Thank you all so much for the support this page has received!!!
All my best,
~Melissa

Hi everyone,
I've had the pleasure to hear from Bear today, and I'm happy to report that he is all finished with the filming of season 2 of Man vs. Wild!!
With regard to some of your inquiries, I've asked Bear a few popular questions. Here are the directly quoted questions, along with Bear's directly quoted answers.
Question #1: What are your chances of getting parasites and what kind of parasites have you gotten from your past experiences?
Answers: 1- I try to be as careful as possible but eating anything raw in the wild carries some risk- but in survival, after the need for Protection from the weather and setting yourself up for some rescue, the priority is then water and food. Always boil it if you can, if you can't and you are going to die from dehydration then drink! Same with food- cook it you can, and if it is raw make sure it is either fresh or frozen…as the sheeps carcass & eyeball was in Iceland….(without giving away too much from the show!)
Question #2: What knife do you use on the show?
Answer: 2- Knife is often a gerber, but my preferred one is found at www.stayingalive.com.au …,probably the best blade around in the world today for survival.
Question #3: You are admired by many for a number of wonderful things. Putting those amazing qualities and achievements aside however, you are also admired by many for another reason. Forums and fansites that discuss your show have a predominantly large amount of female contributors. The posts often portray you as a sex symbol. How do you feel about that?
Answer: 3- sex symbol? Come on get real! I'm a Brit!
Well there you have it, and I hope you all enjoy!!!
~Melissa

Hi everyone,
I've had the pleasure recently to chat with a very kind fellow here at MySpace. (His name is KJ) He has created a Group (message board) here for outdoor enthusiasts alike. He seems to be a very nice person, with good intentions regarding providing a place here for enthusiasts to come together and discuss all aspects of the outdoors. (It doesn't hurt that he's a fan of the Man vs. Wild show either ) If you're interested in chatting with other like minded people, here is the link to his Group, so you can have a look see:
Outdoor Enthusiasts Group
Disclaimer: I just want it to be clear that this group that I've linked isn't affiliated with Bear Grylls. I am personally (without Bear's knowledge) adding this link as a fun option, for those who may be interested!!
