I made a small record and named it Hapitropism. It was mostly played with an instrument called Hapi drum. I'll make it available online soon as well as my preceding Wuola album (which was actually never released online... yet).

Today I learned that Hapi is also an Egyptian god of river. It fits well.

I provided some of my older music for a snowboarding flick by Elo Pictures. The picture is up on Vimeo. Great stuff. Wonderful filming, cutting, timing, everything. Me likes!

Woohoo! I'm working on new music: there will be a soundtrack for a short film and another soundtrack to video art pieces, there will be experimental songs that sound like dry wood and rusty radios, and more traditional Finnish-sung songs about life in contemporary Finland! The days are hot & summer never ends! There will also be another "black box" installation in Galleria Fafa from 9th of July until 2nd of August, this time in a group exhibition called Metsä / Forest. Love and do what you will! And remember to enjoy the summer!

7.9.2007

today kalevi louhivuori literally ran to the gallery and started playing almost immediately. when people came in the installation room it was so dark that nobody could see a thing – but what they could hear was some really delicious playing! at times there were traces of subtle wabi-sabi in the dry & incredibly flexible tones kalevi blew out of his trumpet. the show was recorded and sounds good on tape, too.

i also made this video today. it's quite bad quality & i hope to document this on video in much better quality, but it gives an idea of what is going on at the gallery...

6.9.2007

yesterday was the opening of my exhibition "the black box of nothingness". the black box natal ensemble was cancelled so i played solo with saxophone and it went well.

today olavi louhivuori played intensely beautiful set with his cool percussions – most likely i couldn't even guess where all those squeaks and cracks did come from! i'm sorry i didn't have the recording equipment with me!

i also counted all the receits from the show and hope that people will enjoy the exhibition enough to buy the exhibition catalog, which includes 8-page booklet filled with poetry, pictures and a cd. it can be bought at the gallery for a price of 5 euros. and yeah, it's a limited edition of 50 copies!

if someone is interested in buying the cd via mail, please contact the info at majaka.net!

this will be a good ten days! hope to see you at the gallery!
