Hi all..

Several shows coming up in the new year...

The first... headlining The Family Wash in East Nashville Sat. Feb. 23rd. Melissa Mathes opens.

Also, there's a sampler of production work from 2007 up on the player..

-we got a song featured in the Morgan Freeman file "Feast of Love" last year. "pulling up the drive" from an album I produced for Zach Broocke.

If you're interested in my production work.. drop me a line at production at curtperkins dot com.

I'm booked up til April. But I'm interested in picking up some projects after that. Full production, re-mix, mix... bring it on.

Note.. don't send me a bunch of mp3's.. just send me a link to where I can listen a bit online.

Also, I don't work for free. As much as I love all things music.. I still have to eat, live, etc.

My best to you,

Curt

Good morning all...

Just a quick note to say hello and happy Earth Day.
It is, interestingly enough, also my birthday this year.

Celebrated wonderfully last night with my friends on tour with Josh Rouse.

I hope you are all doing well. In the interests of Earth Day, let me just say this:

Taking action / working on our Earth's climate

Vist Mercy Corps.. They are doing great humanitarian work all around the world

Also, let me just mention in passing the best way to support Independent Music - Art - etc..

Buy it.

That's it.

My best to you,

Curt

April 6th, 2007 @ The Basement—Curt Perkins

Curt Perkins is Getting Something Started

Nashville resident and guitar for hire Curt Perkins has just released Get Something Started, a beautifully soulful record that draws upon 70's era disco-soul while combining modern textures of ambient guitars and vocals. Many may already know Perkins as Josh Rouse's touring guitarist. And while it seems that Rouse's 1972 record may have influenced the grooves on Get Something Started, Perkins's record is far more faithful to the actual vibe and feel of the 70's. Indeed, Perkins channels the harmonies and brass of Chicago while simultaneously capturing the melancholy soul of Marvin Gaye.
The live show at the Basement was a treat, as the band was an all-star line-up featuring Hags Haggerty on bass, Marc Pisapia on drums, Jen Gunderman on keys, and the brilliant Reeves Gabrels on lead guitar. Gabrels's ambient Stratocaster playing draws from the very best of the 70's and 80's, creating a sound reminiscent of Johnny Marr's The The days—albeit with a heavier dose of soul. As one can see from the photo, guest guitarist on several songs was Audley Freed, including a daring cover of Ray LaMontagne's "Three More Days." Daring indeed, as "Three More Days" was the second song in a set that started off a bit loose, but tightened quickly as the band warmed up and began to settle into their rhythm. Perkins has delivered a brilliant CD full of mellow soulful grooves perfect for rainy days or long road trips, and as more and more people listen to the CD and find it impossible to remove from their disc players, Perkins will begin achieving the fan recognition that he deserves. After all, he's just getting started.
