Category: Religion and Philosophy
I dreamt a dream of Global Peace...
a dream of a New Heaven and a New Earth
that was so awesome and so profound...
and so utterly real...
and you and I were in it.

In my lucid dream I saw a world filled with joyous healthy people...
who had plenty of fruits and vegetables and nuts to eat.
A world where no one poisoned their bodies and their minds
with the acidic wastes of meat or dairy.
A world where no one numbed and poisoned themselves
with sugar or refined or fermented grains
A world where no one altered their consciousness with alcohol or drugs.
A world where fear was unheard of and peace prevailed.
A world where the lion lay down with the lamb...
and wars between neighbors and countries had long since disappeared.

In this peaceful, joyous world,c rime no longer existed.
There were no gangs or civil unrest.
There was no hatred of people of a different race or creed or religion.
Prisons and hospitals were no longer needed and
gardens and orchards had sprung up in their place.
There was no need for doctors or pharmaceutical companies
or drugstores or drugs of any kind.
Insurance, born of fear, was no longer needed.
Cosmetic surgery was a thing of the past
as everyone had discovered the power of
right food and right thinking and feeling
to create everlasting beauty and youth.
There was no depression or mentalillness of any kind.
The need for psychiatrists or psychologists or
mental hospitals or therapy had long ago disappeared.

In my lucid dream of a peaceful world,
there was such a meeting of
minds for the common good...
such a trancendant peace enveloped the entire world...
laws and political parties no longer had reason to exist.
All peoples of the earth lived together in perfect harmony...
doing unto others as they expected others to do unto them.
There was no need for moneyas all needs were taken care of
through coops and barter exchanges.
There was a sufficiency of water everywhere on earth.
Deserts and former pastures had been turned into verdant gardens
producing enough fruits and vegetables
for everyone.
The unlimited energy of the tides and waves of the seas
and indeed the Universe had been harnessed
and had completely replaced all fossil fuels and other
polluting energy sources as unlimited sources
of free energy... energy available to all without enemies or borders.

With fear and poverty and famine a thing of the past,
there was such a surge of creativity unlike
anything that had ever been seen before.
Beauty abounded in every facet of man's existence.
Amazing works of art and architecture filled every corner of the world.
Inventions of every kind made light work of every chore.
Each person now had the time and the energy with which to manifest
their fondest dreams... to realize their life's purpose on earth.
There was no need for formal religion of any kind
as the hearts of mankind had been made pure by the fires of divine love....
and had become united and at peace... totally in love with one another.

And this garden of Eden...this paradise on earth...
had all started when a critical mass
of people who where united in their
love of right eating and right thinking
had come together and had focused
their hearts and minds on creating
a New Heaven and a New Earth....
and you and I were part of it all.

Blessings, my friend...
and let us dream together this dream
of Peace on Earth...
Let THIS be the moment now...
and for this New Year...
and forever!

So be it!

I love to shop.  In fact, I've discovered how to make a really wonderful living, at will, by shopping... and that's a whole other story.

But I can't stand ordinary stores or malls.  They are without soul.

But give me a really good thrift store ... or turn me loose in one of my favorite sections of ebay... and it becomes almost a religous experience.  Zen-like in the way I am able to 'connect' with wondrous objects full of beauty and soul -- for the 'right' objects are a form of language to me.

One of my favorite places these days is the Goodwill Outlet Store in Asheville where they have dozens of bins of unsorted clothing and household goods which they sell for $1.10 a pound. I used to shop at other thrift stores, but this place has me spoiled for anything else. I would rather go there and paw and toss through these bins than have a thousand dollars to shop at the finest department store.  The reason?  I've been asking myself that for days... and the answer has finally arrived.

It's a question of soul... and magical powers of manifestion.

For I have managed, over the weeks and months I've been showing up, to invest this place with magical powers.  It's become, for me, over these months,a miraculous point of manifestation.

And in a way, a 'test' of where my head is at on any particular day in regard to that.

Not only have I been able to manifest some of the most amazing items... gifts from the Universe, so to speak, for myself and my friends and to auction on eBay... but I have been able to manifest some of the most amazing people connections as well.  Virtually EVERYTHING that I need, in one way or another, can be conjured from this one spot of totally disarray and chaos.

In fact, one of my best friends magically appeared during my second trip to this spot.  I had picked up a scarf crocheted out of an amazing iridescent yarn.  I looked up, and a couple of bins away was a man with another item crocheted out of the same iridescent yarn.  I walked over to him to offer him my item, saying something like "I think these belong together".  What a metaphor THAT turned out to be!

Not only did we wind up exchanging other items we had picked up for 'no apparent reason' (I had put a gorgeous 'designer' jacket in MY cart that fit him perfectly... and he gave me a wonderful Irish linen damask table cloth) but I wound up with BOTH items of  the iridescent yarn.

Right now I'm looking at a handmade silk log cabin pattern coverlet from 2 centuries ago.  It's all tattered and falling apart in places, but still exquisite in the combination of colors and patterns of silk.  It cost but a dollar, for it's very light, but somehow the reverberation of colors speak to my very soul of a time, and a woman, long ago who chose to honor and remember her wonderful garments by making them into this priceless quilt.

I could go on and on, for each time I go there yields multiple treasures.  I am in awe of how it all happens, and grateful for being a part of the dance.

I received a wonderful message from a MySpace member who had stumbled across my page.  Here's what Marlene wrote:

Jacqueline,

I happened upon your website while searching for graphics, don't ask me how, as I really don't know.

I really enjoyed reading what you wrote about your views on life, and the universe.  I just wanted to let you know.

Are you REALLY 99 years old?  That can't be possible!

You don't look nearly that old!

You have so many interests!  It really keeps the mind active, doesn't it, to love what you do and love the hobbies you have?  I always say that I hope never to go a day without learning something, opening my mind to a new experience, expanding my mind to view something a different way.  It is truly the spice of life to have a curious mind and a spirit of peace.

Have a good day!

Marlene

And here's how I was 'led' to respond:

Hi Marlene!

Thanks for writing!  You have an absolutely wonderful attitude toward life... a great 'joie de vivre".... and as a result you are going to experience what you are projecting!

Since you ask, I am not "99" ... but I set my age to what appears to you to be a seemingly preposterous age because chronological age really isn't relevant to how I feel or act or look.

I chose '99' because it's an age, that many women, even those who are obviously in their early '20's have chosen for whatever reason.

Also, it's the highest allowable age you can choose when you're starting out with MySpace.  So obviously MySpace has a 'bias' that is prevalent throughout society about age.

I don't have a goal to live to be a certain age... for that  puts my mind under the spell of a certain belief system... we call it 'life expectancy'.  And when we do that, we tend to 'expect' that we'll age in a certain way at a certain time.  Worse, 'society' lays that expectation on us.

I believe that our entire life is determined by our thoughts... and to some extent, by what others think of us.  How we look.  How we age. How much money we make.  So why not think the very best thoughts... about ourselves... and about others.... in order that they may do the same about us.

I believe that man's thoughts are truly powerful... and that they influence to a great extent the outcome of our reality.

If we believe we can... then we can.

If we believe we can't ... then we can't.

In fact, it's a lot easier to believe that we can't... because believing that we can takes work... it takes actually DOING whatever it is we believe we can do.  Putting one foot in front of the other, so to speak... until the "belief" is made manifest.

Believing that we CAN'T is the obvious... and EASY... way out of any situation. Because you don't have to DO anything.  "Negatives" don't require action... just negative thought... and "inaction"... just sitting there waiting for something NOT to happen, as it were.

So believe at death at a certain age is the obvious and EASY approach to 'living' (if you want to call it that!)

We call it "life expectancy"... when it's actually "death expectancy"!

Insurance companies have a whole actuarial system of determining the 'life EXPECTANCY' of any particular class of individuals... and they make a lot of money doing what they do.

Speaking of life insurance, I don't have any life insurance -- never have, never will.  I've always thought, ever since I was a teenager, that having life insurance was 'betting against oneself' ... of actually 'betting that one is going to die... and worse, die insolvent.  Even though the insurance company IS betting in the opposite direction, based upon their actuarial tables.... they are still betting on some kind of finite outcome.

I believe in infinity... immortality... physical and spiritual.

Why not!

I would rather 'expect' and even 'believe' that I was going to live forever... and act and plan accordingly.

I'm not sure that I would want to widely put that thought out, at least not until I have substantially made progress along those lines, because there are always 'naysayers... people who want to think the worst... or simply cannot believe otherwise.  I would rather just live accordingly.  After all, what harm could that possibly do?

Maybe on my 500th... or 1000th...  birthday, I'll have a big celebration... and disclose the 'truth'.

Think of it... if one knew or even believed that one was going to live forever, what preparation would one take?  How would one live one's life?

First of all, you would want to live your life without sickness or infirmity.  I personally believe that man IS meant to live a very long time... didn't Methuselah live to be 900 years?

I also believe that in addition to hold certain beliefs, that disease and mental illness are the result of habitually thinking inappropriate thoughts and habitually eating inappropriate foods ... manmade and man-altered foods that don't occur in the natural world and that man was never meant to eat.

Refined sugar.  Refined flour.  In fact, all flour products.  Even grain on a regular basis.  Eggs and meat on a regular basis.  Dairy products.  Cooked foods in general.

Man lived before fire... and before farming and agriculture... and before raising cattle and chickens and hogs.  He did so on grasses and seeds and nuts and fruits and roots and perhaps the occasional eggs and meat that he 'found' along the way.

I see that you are a devout Christian.

That's great... provided that you can go back and study the actual words that Christ spoke and see them for what they really are... for there are many interesting things that Christ said to his disciples... particularly in that last hours after his last meal with his disciples... that I find to be very profound.

Christ says "... he who believes in me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these will he do..."

and

"Peace I leave with you: my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, do I give unto you. Let not your heart be troubled: nor let it be afraid."

He also said...

"Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life..

Is it possible that in addition to this latter quote being a metaphor, that it was also intended to be an instruction to Christ's 'true believers' ... the 12 disciples who had been indoctrinated into a certain form of eating that was conducive to living forever?

Speaking of things biblical, didn't Moses and the people he led out of Egypt manage to traverse a desert for years... while living 'off the land'.

So why has it come to pass that we believe that we need to eat a huge amount of animal protein every day?

Why do we think that it is healthy to manufacture loaves of leavened bread and eat it slathered with butter?

Worse, why do millions of people take these leavened 'loaves' made of refined white flour... and place a rounded circle of ground up and cooked to death hormone-fed beef that has been raised on genetically-altered grain that has been raised on depleted soils... and accompany it with potatoes that have been fried in artery-clogging transfats and salted with processed salt that has been stripped of all its natural minerals... and washed down with colas that so acidic in nature that they can be used as cleaners... and expect to be anything other than tired and obese?

If we were to become true custodians of the earth... and not subject our precious lands to artificially producing beef,  we could create a paradise on earth!

Science has proved that eating in a highly alkaline way ... mostly low sugar fruits and vegetables and grasses...  is a very healthy way to eat... and that eating in a very acid-forming way... sugars, grains, meat, dairy... is what causes all disease including obesity (it's fat encapsulating the body's acidic wastes in order to protect the body... and release it when needed to maintain homeostasis... that causes obesity).

Take a look at http://www.phmiracleliving.com for some insights into what I'm talking about.

I believe that it's our obligation, not only to ourselves, but to our fellow man, to take really good care of our bodies so as not to be a burden on our children, our family, and on society.

I believe that eating in the 'right way' leads to great physical and mental health for the duration of one's life... as well as true peace, true joy, true bliss.

If everyone were to live and think in this way, it would put an end to all war, an end to the so-called health system as we know it (it would actually become a "wellness promoting system"...not the disease symptom alleviating system it for the most part is.  It would put the pharmaceutical companies out of business.  And why would you need large hospitals?

I think that in order to be able to think peaceful loving thoughts that one needs to eat appropriately first...

and perhaps through 'right eating' we will achieve the 'peace' to which Christ so often alludes.

My personal experience of eating a highly raw, highly alkaline diet enables me to usually maintain my equilibrium under even the most stressful situation.  However, eating the least little bit of refined sugar... like a few cough drops, for example... can be enough to through one "off balance".

I believe that it the duty of each citizen of the world to  individually become peaceful ourselves.  To become totally responsible for our own peace.

When enough people believe and act in this way (and it is happening as we speak!), this 'critical mass' of individuals at peace with themselves are inevitably going to create a "shift" in the thinking and actions of mankind.  A veritable 'zeitgeist' of peace.

In other words, the end to all war.

For trying to end war WITH war only begets MORE war!

You are absolutely right about being interested in many things being one way to stay young... in heart.. spirit... mind... and body!

Being curious about everything... being a student my entire life... is something that just comes naturally to me.  The only time I can recall being bored was when I was working for a living and didn't have enough interesting work to do... but rather having work that I didn't enjoy doing.

I am fortunate enough to have a small regular income, and to be able to find all kinds of interesting ways to supplement it.

I also have found many, many ways to really 'stretch' the dollars I do have.

I have a never-ending list of things I want to do... works of art I want to create or collect .... homes I want to live in or build ...  books I want to read and write... locations I would love to travel to ... that it's actually pretty imperative that I live a long time... and in the process create enough money to achieve my goals and dreams.

I tend to choose friends who think like I do.  Almost all of my friends are younger than I am.  I guess because so many people my own age are either already dead or dying... or have resigned themselves to the inevitability of sickness and ill health at some point in the future.

Hopefully, the way I am thinking will 'catch on' with more and more people... including those my age and older.  I believe that the aging process can be halted and even reversed if the right thoughts are thought and the right foods are eaten... and the right kind of exciting life is lived!

So one of the reasons I've taken the time to respond to you at such great length is it gives me a chance to put my thoughts down on paper... and have for an audience someone who might be interested.

I am also going to post this as a blog... as there is much here that I would like everyone to see...

As I am seeking to live in a world that is full of joyous people... people who are devoid of fear... filled with hope... and bliss... and an expectancy of life that surpasses anything that we could have imagined heretofore.

With much love and peace,

Jacqueline

Eating "Raw" in a Cooked Food World.

How do you manage to eat 'raw'... and still have a 'normal life'.... dining out with friends and loved ones at THEIR favorite restaurants, not yours?

One of the biggest challenge to eating raw can be the sense of isolation that occurs when you are faced with eating with your friends and loved ones in a non-raw or even conventional vegetarian restaurant.

Plan ahead and bring your restaurant "survival kit". Some suggestions: avocado, your favorite raw crackers and a container of raw pate, a small bottle of extra virgin olive oil-based dressing, etc.

With your handy survival kit in hand, you can turn an invitation to any regular restaurant that serves a raw salad or has a raw salad bar ... even McDonalds... into a satisfying raw meal.

If you purchase the restaurant's salad or salad bar, and if that's the ONLY 'raw choice' on the menu, I don't know of any restaurant who wouldn't let you add your dressing or additions like avocado to the salad. In a fixed price situation like an oriental buffet or a "soup and salad" bar restaurant, they should actually be delighted if you bring your own add-ons. In other situations, if you explain that you are on a very strict raw-only diet, and that the salad by itself isn't quite enough, and you need to have your "avocado a day".

I'm sure most restaurants won't have a problem... particularly if you are with another person or two or three who are ordering the entree.

If you are in a natural foods market with a salad bar that doesn't have all that you need (such as avocado) as one of their selections, you might purchase an avocado and some raw crackers in their grocery section, pay for it, and then eat it along with your purchased salad.

By venturing out, avocado and olive oil dressing in hand, into the 'conventional' restaurant scene, you are doing your not-so-small-part in raising the consciousness of the restaurant world -- making them realize that there IS a demand for raw and living foods.

RawFoodNetwork's Restaurant page
has a nice selection of raw and raw-friendly restaurants.

Below is an edited and expanded upon forum response I made to a vegan who was seeking to eat more raw and  looking to interact with someone who wasn't a 'rabid raw foodist'...for some tips.

Since I am not 100% raw myself... yet desiring to enjoy the peace, joy, bliss and health that are available to those on the raw food diet... I figured that I fit his criteria.

Here's what I wrote, with some edits and adds:

I have been updating my RawFoodNetwork.com website over the past several weeks...

and one of the links I put in recently is on the homepage... it's an article by Matt Monarch who has himself been 100% raw for over 6 years... but has worked extensively with Fred Bisci who advocates for some an 'intermediate diet'...

Here's a snippet:

"... The reason the 100% Raw Food Diet is the greatest diet in the world is because you leave out everything that could make you ill and only keep in the best of foods.

It is critically important to understand that what you leave out of your diet completely without cheating is the way to ultimate health. What you don't eat is actually more important than what you do eat.

I don't care if you eat Raw Foods until you are blue in the face. You are not going to fully heal unless you eliminate the cause, which means omitting certain foods from your diet. ..."

You'll learn EXACTLY what foods are critical to leave out... and, if you ARE going to 'cheat', how to do it with the LEAST harm. Whether you are totally new to raw foods -- or if you have been "70%...or 80%... or even 90% raw for years without getting the kind of results you think you ought to have... reading Matt's article will give you some good advice.

I was introduced to the raw food lifestyle 4-1/2 years ago, and went almost 100% raw right away. This lasted for about 2 or 3 months... until the cold North Carolina winter and a massive detox got the best of me.

Over the past 15 months, I've slowly been working my way back... with no particular time limit... possibly never... for being "100%". Might not be necessary.

I'm definitely not a raw food nazi... but understand why some people are... it's probably easier for them than to risk falling back into old patterns. The addiction to certain types of cooked food are very hard to kick.

I just think that one ought to do the best one can...

And if you eat something that makes you feel yucky... just accept it... and go on....

tomorrow's another day!

My reasons for eating as close to raw as I can are:

I feel infinitely better, both physically and emotionally, when I'm eliminating meat, refined sugar, refined starches, all glutenous grains (I do eat some cooked brown and black rice (mixed) once or twice a week), and dairy. I feel peaceful, joyous, blissful, more energy. Plus I like the taste of raw fruits and veggies.

I think that if the whole world ate this way, there would be no wars, no divorces, no crimes. The whole medical, hospital, prescription drug, and insurance industries would change dramatically.

I personally eat a totally raw breakfast of avocado, grapefruit and other fruit in season.  Even if you're in a rush, as I was today, you can take the whole fruit with you in a bag, along with a knife, a spoon or fork and a bowl.  When I got to the garage to have my brakes done, I took my bag to a picnic bench in the park across the street, and prepped my fruit.  Then I moved into the sunlight on the banks of a rushing stream, and ate and worked on a crossword puzzle.  Sure beat sitting in the grubby waiting area ... or of eating a fat and sugar-laden breakfast at the local diner.

I eat another meal that's a big raw salad... with freshly made dressing of extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, rice vinegar, cracked pepper whisked together... to which I add another avocado (I try to eat at least one a day... they almost single handedly have healed a form of psoriasis called 'inverse psoriasis'... and given me incredibly strong nails for the first time in my life!)... plus ripe tomatoes, baby greens, small grated organic carrot... and whatever else is on hand... including orange or red pepper, peeled cucumber, bok choys of various kinds, red cabbage, sliced radishes, etc.

You can also make a slaw out of various cabbages and bok choys, and make a dressing out of avocado and lime or lemon juice and olive oil.

These are ingredients that you can find in almost any supermarket anywhere... and more and more markets have organic produce.  I buy those huge 1 pound tubs of washed organic baby greens, which make it easy to throw together a salad anytime and anywhere.... whether it's at home or on the road.  In fact, if I am on the road, I like to carry a small bottle of extra virgin olive oil, some sea celtic sea salt, some garlic... along with a bowl or two... and a knife.

I am going to start fermenting my own sauerkrauts, veggies, kim chi's, etc... as the lactobacili are really good for your intestinal health and digestion.. and it's something you can prepare substantial quantities of in advance.  Here's a good website for information and recipes on home fermenting:
http://www.wildfermentation.com

I created the RawFoodNetwork.com site to help me... and to help others... in their journey toward the bliss, better judgment, abundant health and peace that eating raw, or mostly raw, represents.

It endeavors to be non-judgmental.. but that doesn't mean that the various sites it links to are not, by themselves, sometimes 'fanatical'.  There are also conflicting views represented

Take a look at the links on the
RawFoodNetwork.comhome page... and on the "Starting Points" page.

Maybe join a RawFood Meetup if there's one in your area... as there you'll encounter all kinds of raw and raw curious people.  It can be helpful to have actual real live support.

There are links to many mailing lists, blogs, forums, etc... where you'll be exposed to the whole spectrum of 'raw' ... which is another excellent way to get support and answers to the questions you'll inevitably have.

What I rely on, most of all, is how I feel after eating a certain way.

If I find myself eating widely, I notice how I feel when I do.  Am I anxious? Upset?  Having problems sleeping?  Fearful?

Having noted that I'm feeling a certain way after eating a certain food, I adjust my diet accordingly .. until I'm tempted again... and am willing, it seems, to trade 'peace of mind' for 'just another little taste of ice cream... or pizza ... or whatever.

It's really one grand experiment...

I notice, that with the help of what I'm doing putting together the
RawFoodNetwork.com site... and creating my MySpace page... and going to the RawFood Meetup in Asheville... and being exposed to all sorts of inspiration from the people and articles I encounter... that I am more and more often eating in ways that support my health and well-being.

I don't have a time limit.  I don't beat myself up for 'eating off'.  Each day is a new day... a new phase of this 'grand experiment' called life.

I invite all who are desirous of living peace, joy, bliss and abundant good health to join me in your own 'grand experiment'.

Love, peace, and joy to you all,

Jacqueline
