Hey everyone, I'l make this quick as it's a busy day. We are looking for people who run their own businesses; clothing, jewelry, indie arts & crafts, toys, etc to participate in our No-Fi "Magazine" 3rd Annual Holiday Gift Guide. This is a VERY last minute thing though so contact me RIGHT AWAY if you are interested in participating. We'll need you to send samples of your product in some cases in case we want to do a photoshoot with them. The items we choose for the gift guide will be chosen by the staff of No-Fi "Magazine". Do NOT reply if you are in a band. We ARE way behind in reviews, but that's going to be remedied within the next couple weeks. This special section is NOT for bands though as we have a whole review section just for that. If you sent us a CD recently to review, I just received a GIANT box full of CDs for review from the last No-Fi Address so we can finally start doing those reviews again (whew!). Hope to hear from you soon! ~ Chris Beyond editor, no-fi "magazine" http://www.nofimagazine.com http://www.nofiradio.com

Hey everyone!
Just a quick announcement to say that we're seeking interns in the Los Angeles area.
The No-Fi "Magazine" Office has moved to Atwater Village (about 5 minutes from Silverlake - 15 minutes from Hollywood) and things are in disarray (aka in a lot of boxes) at the moment.
If you would like to join the crew as an intern, now is a great time to do it as there will be plenty to do. We can arrange hours depending on our schedule. Lunch will be provided. I need somebody reliable but also fun with a good sense of humor. In the future you will be invited to events, possible photoshoots, and whatever fun things we are invited to or come up with. No-Fi "Magazine" is a community based magazine so all ideas for articles, interviews, and themes are welcome.
Sorry to keep it so short. Things are pretty busy at the moment. I hope to hear from you and I will try to reply as quickly as possible.
ABOUT NO-FI "MAGAZINE": No-Fi "Magazine" is an independent music and entertainment magazine first published in early 1996. The website came shortly after and in 2002 we switched over to an all-online format which has been very successful in exposing our name and the bands and performers we write about to new markets. Chris Beyond started out as an intern himself at Ben Is Dead magazine and has been published there and in Harper's Magazine before creating No-Fi "Magazine". He has been the Art Director at Contagious Records, Flavored With Meat Records, and has designed many flyers and ads for bands and performers. Recently he designed the entire cover - inside and out, including the DVDs themselves - for the film BROAD DAYLIGHT for Guerrilla Monster Films.

Hey everyone,
A few quick notes here...
1.) I've been without internet services for the last several days so I wasn't able to reply to anyone or do updates to the site until starting last night.
2.) 47 pages of friend requests?!? Seriously? I wasn't gone THAT long. Well, once I get to you, welcome! And always feel free to write. :)
3.) I'm moved into my new place in Atwater Village. There will be a mailbox change very soon. Please update your records for sending us albums, films, and books for review. (Speaking of which we are very behind at the moment. Please be patient and we'll get to you.)
4.) I'm tentatively THINKING about doing a HALLOWEEN show with a burlesque theme...but it'll also be a play... based on a film from the 60s. If you are interested in participating in any way, please let me know!
5.) I have a new profile strictly for my photography. If you would like to work with me as a photographer for your own site or portfolio and you live in or near the L.A. area, let me know and I'll send you a private invite.
6.) And how are YOU doing? ;D

Ok guys n' gals.... So because of some personal issues that started during the last issue, it's been tougher to get content out to you as quick since the new issue debuted. I'm trying my best though and any help that I can get from any of our L.A. friends would be great (especially for doing REVIEWS!!!!! Help!)
New this week in No-Fi "Magazine" at nofimagazine.com: > A new episode of No-Fi "Radio" hosted by the amazing Vahe Vahe of the band NU-TRA. > A review of the film LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE> A review of the film SUPERMAN RETURNS> Coming this week...TWO new MONSTERGIRLS photosets by Don Spiro! > Also coming this week...the No-Fi 'Ghastly Gaffaws' Joke Section; Dirty Jokes written by and for Dirtier Monsters with Artwork by Elrod! I actually wrote original jokes for this...and yes, you should be scared. NEWZ....> I may be in New York in September for the NY Burlesque fest. It's not 100% yet because it all depends on if I can afford it and have the time. But if I know any of you and you plan to be there too, let me know so we can hang out, take pictures, do interviews, record your band, etc... > The No-Fi "Compilation" ..1 CD DOES have a FEW spots available. If you want to be on this and your music encompasses what we're all about, let me know. I'd especially want to hear from bands we know or have reviewed positively. And of all of thee bands that have played on No-Fi "Radio", which of those sessions would YOU like to hear on this comp? Check our No-Fi "Radio" Myspace profile for a full list of who has played on our show... The GIRLSCOUTS ON A SWINGrerelease (first time on CD) has been delayed slightly until things settle down on this end. If you into the true no-fi sound from a bunch of high school kids playing punk rock detuned guitars and trash cans in the early 90s, check out their new Myspace page to hear a sample or three! Ummmmm... That's about it for now. Anyone have any GOOD apartment leads in L.A.? yr no-fi pal, Chris Beyond editor, no-fi "magazine" http://www.nofimagazine.com http://www.nofiradio.com

Hey everyone! Ok, so I had a busy weekend. I'm still looking for a new place, hopefully in the Silverlake area. And I got two features up on nofimagazine.com. Go there to see our interview with RT the TEACHER ROBOT (of The ART OF BLEEDING) and a new SPOOKY cartoon by Louis Hansell. I also went to a strange but fun "tupperware-esque" sex toy party on Friday held by one of my coverstars. I didn't buy anything. Part of me was worried that body parts would start poping out and flying all over the place, but there was no nudity or anything weird...well weirder than the sex toys, that is...most of which were pretty dern weird. I didn't contribute much except to riff on all the toys that were passed my way. When somebody handed my a dildo that had glowing lights inside that changed colors, I said "Your father wanted you to have this when you were old enough..." Oh, you should have heard everyone laughing. Especially me to myself. ;) Saturday I assisted my friend Laurie in her photoshoot for a magazine where we had to find people on the street to wear (hawaiian) leis. You'd be suprised just how many crabby people were in Carlsbad, California. Luckilly she found enough people happy to do the shoot, but wow. I really hate it when people go out of their way to be mean to people. Sez one old mean old bastard to Laurie (who was carrying around a VERY expensive camera), "You don't look like a photographer. You've got sand all over your feet." We had just returned from the beach. Anyway... I've also been care-taking my new profile Chris Beyond Photography which is why I haven't been at this profile as much over the last week. I'm reserving that profile only for people in the Los Angeles (or near) area who want to model for me for either a future cover of, or article in No-Fi "Magazine" - or for their own portfolio, project, or website. If that's you go over to http://www.myspace.com/beyondphotography and do a friend request. :) That's the news for now. OH! Also Quin put up a SHORT episode of No-Fi "Radio" over at http://www.nofimagazine.com/nfradio.htm. Because of my upcoming move to...somewhere, I can't do my own shows for a while so Quin and Vahe are picking up MY slack a bit. ;) Ok, that's it for real-sies. ~ Chris Beyond editor, no-fi "magazine" http://www.nofimagazine.com http://www.nofiradio.com

Hey everyone, A lot of you have come to know us as this indie magazine that raves about "those crazy underground bands" and has all those "wacky covers" and just plain "weird articles." Well that's all going to change after getting a myspace friend add from Teen Dream Pop and R&B Sensation Justin Phillip. http://www.myspace.com/justinphillipThis kid comes straight from the streets of Hollywood. Hollywood, FLORIDA, that is! Ha ha! You thought I meant Hollywood, California, didn't ya? I guess that means the laugh's on YOU. Anyway, Justin Phillip. Let's call him Mr. Justin Phillip for short. His music... It's almost indescribable. It's some form of totally unfamiliar pop music fused with R&B (I know! I didn't even think it was possible) that I'm sure has never been done before countless times over and over and over again by wave after wave after wave of wannabe young pop idols. I think the time is right for Mr. Justin Phillip. If you don't believe me, let me point to a sample of the genius of his lyrics... This is just a couple lines from what I don't doubt will be the next number one hit this year from the song "GET OVER YOU"... "Nothing makes me happy like being with you. I'm reminiscin' on things we used to do."And the way he starts to go "uh uh uh" over the opening notes of the song... WHERE THE HELL DID HE COME UP WITH THAT?!?!?!? Genius! That's what it is. And those backup dancers who TOTALLY don't look like awkward juniour high schoolers? Sorry GRANDADDY! Move over CREEKBIRD! Fuck you FLAMING LIPS! There's a new kid in town... ...And his name is Justin Phillip. You heard it here first. yr no-fi pal, Chris Beyond editor, no-fi "magazine" http://www.nofimagazine.com http://www.nofiradio.com

Hey guys n' gals...
I have an interesting theme for an issue coming up and if you are a comic book style artist and would like your work to be shown throughout an issue and to promote your work, please write me ASAP so I can keep you in mind when it comes to putting that issue together.
If you're a comic book fan, that's a bonus as you'll probably get this particular theme. ;)

It's true. I have been depressed due to some recent events in my life and as fate would have it, I'm also sick on top of that. Therefore, I decree that we all watch one of the unaired Pilot Episodes of one of my favorite TV Shows of all time... THE MUNSTERS
. Ok? Ok! I believe that there were about 5 pilots shot of this show before it finally made series. This is the 2nd version of them. luv, Chris nofimagazine.com
