hi everyone,
i
wanted to let you know we're making the shift back to playing out as
Jeremy Simon. the past year has proven doing the name change to Taking
Motion was hasty and not the best of choices. if you wanna read more
about it, the blog on http://jeremysimon.com has more info. we're
rollin' this acoustic and acoustic rock stuff back under my name. Taking Motion will be what it was originally intended: a rock
project.

hey crew!
just wanted to let you we've started really working on songs for the next CD. actually, the next 2 or 3 CDs i should say. heh, one's just an acoustic guitar instrumental CD i'm putting out (jeremy). the other two are going to be packaged together. that's the general plan at the moment.
like i said before, taking motion is going to try to be a diverse group. we started here as an acoustic-based duo and we are working on the rock band side of it. in addition to that, some of us write electronic music and have friends who do as well. so in our recordings, we want to offer a little bit of everything. why? we love it all! it's all fun and interesting stuff. music is an expression and an opinion. we're gonna show you that you don't have to stick in one genre, especially if you have more to offer than that. to us, all styles are interesting. i personally get bored as anything if i don't do different things. life is much richer than we make it out to be. so the proposed 2-CD set will have a largely acoustic-based portion, and a rock-based portion, and well, whatever we decide we're happy with! win, win!
so in the coming year this means you'll be able to catch us playing concerts in different forms as well. we're gonna try to be fitting for whatever the venue is as well. but don't be surprised to hear someone saw us play a loud rock show and another heard a 4 piece chill acoustic group. heh.
catch you all later. :) jeremy

hi all!
we never blog, so i thought i'd attempt to let you in on some Taking Motion news. :)
lately, we've been working with a few musician friends. soon there will be some extra guitars and some good rhythms accompanying what we do. when we feel we're ready to reveal stage 2 of the band, we shall let ya know. i will say, it is hard to find musicians that 1, can be committed, but more importantly 2, really fit with the vision you have for the band sonically and configuration-wise. you can't just be a guitarist or a drummer and have played this style and that. there's something to be said for a smart and observant one, but there's an intangible quality we seek. some say it's that you 'gel' or 'click'. it's been a search to who can take the existing music in wonderful directions. it's also been a search to find who clicks with writing music together... we're finding these people, although it's surely a slow process.
the vision for Taking Motion is pretty broad. in the form most of you know, it's been Anna and i playing the guitar and doing the duo/tagteam kind of singing. it's all well and good (and rest assured, we shall always do things like that in some shape or form), but we want to be far more diverse. i (jeremy), write so many styles of music ranging from the acoustic stuff, to hard rock, to electronica. without that, i get into ruts, and honestly, i'm sure you would agree with me, having variety is one of the great parts of life!
our hope is to put on any show that we desire. it doesn't mean we'll play every style there is. we just mean, if we wanna do the stripped down acoustic thing, we're at home doing that and we could do it at will. then with a more rock band style, we shall be equally at home. we love both. the thrust right now is to incorporate a more rock band format and start to iron out songs that have had to sit on the bench for so long. :)
anyway, i hope that's informative to some degree. i'm a terrible writer and runon sentences seem to be my life. hope to see you soon! jeremy
