I hate drama kids.

Plain and simple.

I don't like hating people...it actually kind of sucks.

Buttt pleeeease...

Get over the fact that I'm not like the rest of you and don't think the same things are funny. Throwing people's stuff in trash cans or hiding it in evil ficuses is NOT funny. If it's me or anyone else.

People also don't like to be called whores, sluts, etc. Learn the definition of one, as well. Chances are you fall under that catagory, more than the person you're calling it.

Physical abuse is NOT ok. Throwing someone against a wall, pushing them down the stairs, or threatening to break their nose is NOT ever ok.

I'm friends with Olivia, GET OVER IT! If you're going to talk crap about her, don't be telling it to me.

Also, if you have a problem with me don't go around telling everyone about it. Say it to my face. Chances are I don't care what you think, but talking behind people's back is just immature. (Like most of the things you people do.)

In other words... JUST GROW UP!!!

<3 Lindsey

p.s. I'm not as dumb as you all think. (I figured you would have figured this out by now.)

Ok...so I wrote a letter to the editor a week ago and they put it in the paper today. They deleted my last paragraph, but hey I'm not complaining. When I found out they were putting my letter into the actual paper I prepared myself for harsh comments, expecting lots. Instead all of the comments I've received so far on the Napa Register website have been positive. Needless to say I'm feeling pretty good right now. For those of you who haven't read the letter or the it's posted below. If you have any comments about it feel free to go to napavalleyregsiter.com/opinion and write a comment on it. The comment can be good or bad, I want to hear other people's opinion on this issue.

Taking a stand for the arts
Friday, March 16, 2007

Dear editor, As a student at Vintage High School, I'd like to give my two cents on the protest to save the fine arts.

The plan on March 9 was for people to go to their electives but sit on the stage in the quad during core classes. Because I had an elective first period, I didn't go to the protest until second period. A few minutes after the bell rang, a few of the administrators came and told us all to go to class. Evidently, during first period, they had thought it was an art class, but later found out it was a protest. The first few times we were asked to go to class, people kept asking the administrators questions about what they were going to do to solve the problem. We got answers about having seven periods instead of six or how freshmen may be able to take "early flight" geography. None of the answers seemed like they'd help with the raising of test scores and wouldn't solve the elective problem. Not all students can take early flight due to rides and the inconvenience it is for their parents.

The administrators kept telling people not to ask any more questions and that we'd have a forum about it next Thursday. Honestly, if they were smart, they would have held a forum then. Instead, they're giving students an entire week for their anger to build up. The administrators then said protesting students could face detentions, Saturday schools and suspensions. Eventually, the group of kids dwindled down to about four. Officer Risley was then called from the office and by the time he was there we were down to three. We were told that if we didn't go to class, we would be suspended. I wasn't going to back down, but after the other two girls backed down, I knew there wouldn't be anything I could do by myself to make the administration think any differently on this topic.

I regret not taking more of a stand by myself. I feel it's better to get suspended for something you believe in than keeping your mouth shut. Now, we really didn't go back to class, as I didn't see watching "Good Burger" crucial for my education. In class, we're always taught that it's good to stand up for what you believe in and even though sometimes it doesn't seem like it, protests like the one we had that day can make a difference. If they're going to teach us these ideas, they should be ready for the consequences of that. The administration had told students that they could protest during lunch. But what was the point? If they give you permission to "protest," chances are you're not making an impact on them. I chose not to protest during lunch because it didn't really seem like a protest. It felt like people making signs and people hanging them in the quad.

I hate to break it to anyone who thinks that students are overreacting, but I know I'm not ready to back down yet, and I doubt other students are ready either. The arts are sometimes the only reason students stay in school, and if you take that away for classes like geography and extra core classes, more kids are going to just give up. Taking away electives isn't going to make kids take the state testing more seriously. Kids will no longer have a creative outlet and will be even more confused and frustrated when it comes to life and school. Everyone's ideas should be heard, let's just hope the administration listens.
