i created this mixtape because i wanted to speak on some subjects obviously being ignored and display a content that most artist are straying from due to the current climate of the industry. i personally have done the grab a beat and spit method that most artist are caught up in. and i can never sell the people out with the method of just trying to make a club/ringtone hit that a lot of artist are fading to. because of the desperation to become successful in the game most artist are straying away from the method of topic and songs that make you think. i, without fear of loss decided to make a controversial mixtape that would provoke conversation and hopefully get some people to realize that you will not be able to party your way through all the issues that plague us. eventually you will have to buckle down and handle things seriously to ensure greatness for our community and ourselves personally.

i went with the theme "sleeping giant" due to the understanding and knowledge i have obtained throughout my years studying under great spiritual men. not saying im a giant as me being more important, but saying that we in this country are coming to a time where the days that we overlook obvious issues that plague us is coming to a end. the giants are waking and the alarm clocks are ringing.

the use of michael evans from good times and huey freeman from the boondocks happened because of the parallel of those particular characters and my upbringing. i have always been a rebel and one who would go left if everybody else was going right.  i always challenged what i felt in my spirit didnt make sense. which first brings in michael from good times a lot like myself one from the ghetto and the worst conditions yet speaking out for righteousness and truth. then i get older handle my biz and move to the burbs. most when they move to the burbs change they tone of struggle because they usually want to fit in, or dont want to appear to black to they white neighbors. but unlike them the suburbs didnt change me at all. im still the same rebel. i will always be that rebel.

i dont know what ancestor shaped me or what family member and spirit that resides in me that makes me who i am. but i embrace it to carry on the legacy of those who fought and died for our advancement. this mixtape is a tribute to them.

1.intro

2.libations-a homage to the ancestors

3.michael huey freeman-the connection to both characters

4.underdog-coming from nothing and making something

5.englewood-flipped a dr dre sample to give a picture of my stomping ground

6.dead or in jail-the hood i came from actually kept me out of the worst

7.same ole same ole-life is just a rerun although youngsters think its so different and elders wont adjust for change...

8.31 flavors-damn shame its 2009 and we still enslaved to willie lynch

9.skit

10.the leech-u claim you cant stand rap and hip hop aint what it used to be, well stop doing what it takes to destroy it. back before we were free to have opinions on what we liked, now you forced to go with the majority or you hating. the word 'hate" gets tossed around to easily....

11.d.t.s.j-i understand fads are fads and people just want to be who they are, but really you that comfortable with dressing like leroy from fame?

12.american gangsta-we as black people have gone to long holding ignorance and violence up as a badge of honor and we do the same with the history of gangbanging in our communities. we not real gangstas we just dumb criminals who repeat the same cycle of destruction that leads us to the jail cell and the grave. the real gangsters are the ones who came from organized crime like we in now, but they transformed that into billion dollar corporations and control of politics. until we get some real power, no way can we call ourselves gangsters....

13.momma what did i do-just some things to consider before you choose abortion

14.mr huxtable-dedicated to all the bourgie black folks who want to scapegoat hip hop and young black people for the problems in the community but dont want to accept the responsibility for they failures to educate the youth on pride love and respect. like really how can 14-21 year olds be the leaders and sustainers of the hood?if the hood is a mess thats the blame to the elders....

15.my turn-my ship is coming in...

16.frame-a picture has a thousand words and a million thoughts....

17.next up-just some fire...

18.wild wild-losing my mind

19.look now they love em-they dont love you until you gone, just ask mj

20.outro

hope you enjoy feel free to leave feedback and suggestions....peace....

this thread is for all the felons(including myself) who wants to vote but cant. luckily my wife is casting her vote. and my vote would have been for obama. a have plenty of reasons why but ill give one that i havent heard many speak on.

reguardless of the intentions of obama he is still just one man and he is a politician. history has shown that dramatic social change only comes to past by people of god. the government is the government and even as i believe that obama will attempt to do a lot of programs and assistance to aid the poor and middle class congress is going to give him hell to pass most of what he wants to do. i know first hand how that process works due to the fact although i was young i remember when mayor harold washington was in chicago and he was the same sort of person like obama but the city council led by the fukkin devil mayor daley gave harold washington hell on all the programs and reform he was tryin to pass in the city. so i dont look for that from obama. the likelyhood is that the same economic and energy crisis we in now will probally still be here 4 years from now. obama is not faced with trying to just clean up a mess that bush has drove us deeper in to. but this countrys problems are about 3 other regimes old.

what obama does though is stand as a symbol for change on mental perception about black people. for hunderds of years the racist in this country have created this taboo opinion about the inferiorty of black people. we were so called brung here from savage africa and once lived as the monkeys did. with every step of progression we have made we have had many who critisized us and ridiculed us. in every field we excelled in they have bashed us. "we are great in sports because we come from jungle africa and were used to jumping and running" if we give the world malcom x, martin luther king and many other brilliant black men who trumped white scholars in intelligence, they are then called religious fanatics and viewed as crazy. obama has come through the best colleges and the worst neighborhoods. yet he has beat the best that they had to offer. i mean he defeated the clintons who were seen as they best. if the clintons aint the best they had to offer show me who else? now despite the racist and biased principles of many he about to be the president. it shows the greatness of our influence in this country and how far we have gone in perception in the minds of many who judge us. dont get it twisted we aint free from the tyranny and prejudice that plague this country. we are still going to have to deal with driving while black, last hired first fired, and injustice system, a lopsided educational system, a police department that will still shoot us down in the streets, cases like jena 6,scapegoating hip hop for all the problems of the country, nooses poppin up out of nowhere etc. etc. etc. but at least no longer can the world as a whole look at black people like we are second class and not good enough. at least when the question is asked "what do you want to be when you grow up" and a child answers "president" we can say it and people wont be in the back of they heads thinking "yeah whatever n1gga". at least we have a argument when the world tries to judge every black man like we are just lazy, dead beat dogs who care more for weed and sex than we do about responsibility. thanks to michelle obama we can finally see a black woman who is not just some additude having money hungry bustdown but as a intelligent black woman who doesnt take her position to her head and get arrogant and that stands and supports her man.

thank you obama for showing the world that black people can succeed in anything.....
