Though, I'm several weeks late posting this blog, I'm here to do it now.  The Paranaut track, "The Frog King", was recently included in a compilation.  Check out volume 18; it also includes a track from Vault Dweller, whom we will be performing with at their last show on Saturday.

The video footage from our August 22nd show at Ash Street Saloon are now online... well, 3 out of 4 of the songs are.  The titles are of course Mr. Ace Furley's folly.

Thanks are in order for Mike Lastra and Adam (I forget his last name, but he's the ex-guitarist from Under Mountains... and he also made that film, "People Who do Noise") who filmed this event and also edited it(Mike only).  Thank you to Heather at Ash Street Saloon for allowing us to have our roving cameramen looming about during a Friday night opening set.

Paranaut will be doing a radio appearance next Wednesday night (11/19) between 8 and 9 pm on KPSU, a local college radio station.  1450AM for those around Portland.  If you aren't in this neck of the woods you can tune in at http://www.kpsu.org .  If you happen to be too busy or forget about it, it should be archived (http://archive.kpsu.org/)  for listening at your convenience under the heading "Signal to Noise".

In other news, our founding drummer, Kenny will be leaving the band soon.  December 5th at Kelly's is slated to be his last show; so, DO NOT MISS IT.

Paul and I will continue under the Paranaut name with a drummer to be announced and a new set.

Thank you for your support,

William Feedenbacker

Though it is a couple of years late, I do appreciate this.  Besides, we are only starting to conquer Hungary and Eastern Europe.  Kudos to David; I love the review!  He has even translated it for us English speaking folks.  Although it is not grammatically correct, I get the picture.  One thing that was missed on the fact checking is that the album is actually nearly 72 minutes and not 60, and there are 8 tracks not 7.  I forgive you, and I am still proud to post the review.  Someday, maybe, we will tour Hungary.

original review posting (scanned from the latest issue of Hammer World):

Translation(care of David):

"The way where i find the band called Paranaut, was so adventurous, because at first, i heard them at their MySpace-site, and after that i wrote an e-mail to the band, what contained my need about a promotional release. After that, the front-member of the band, William posted to me their album in the original form (not a promotional version, it was limited to 300 copies!), with some stickers, a disc with some photographies, a photocard, and a biography, what's so plenty of informations.

So, after i picked up my jaw from the floor about their kindness (man, it's the xxi. century?!), here comes the time, when i must say that: USA has a fizzy underground scene in the genres of slude/doom (and stoner, too, but i think, they're don't know the real value of this feeling), what's getting better and better. The band Paranaut comes from this scene, with some virtues about their musical ability.

In the trio's first album - what contains seven songs in 60 minutes - we can hear in high musical level, when the low tuned sludge mentality flirts with some slowly and organic doom parts and flickering guitar themes too. The quality of sound isn't the better, what i can imagine in this genre, but in my opinion, first of all this music (and these, epic-lenght and powerful songs) makes a frenetic feeling at a concert, and i envy all people, those who can go to a live Paranaut concert... The sound of a records is a secondary thing, at all.

The members of Paranaut don't want to change this world, but they're know from their visceral deepness, how to play slude/doom music with full of straightness, and if you will hear these song, i think you will find their talent. And in my opinion, that's enough about a good output, so i jitter them.

7 points of 10."

Greetings all,

Hot off the presses (so to speak), Paranaut's "The Hills Fell Silent" was reviewed for the French-speaking webzine, Desert-Rock.  As soon as I can get a translator to read it to me, I can tell you how impressed I am (haha).  I have heard much positive feedback from our reviewer, though; so, I expect that it is quite flattering.  Thank you Jihem and all of the Desert-Rock gang.
