Solo acoustic shows will include Liverpool, London and BBC appearances

Jeff Slate, the founder of the New York City mod/classic rock band The Badge, will appear at two George Harrison tribute shows dubbed “For George” at Liverpool’s St. George Hall on Saturday, August 1, 2009.

While in Liverpool Slate will make return appearances on Billy Butler’s Friday, July 31st, afternoon BBC Merseyside show as well as renown Beatles historian and BBC presenter Spencer Leigh’s Saturday evening program on August 1st.  Slate’s appearance on Spencer Leigh’s show will come in between the afternoon and evening performances at the Harrison tribute.

Slate will also treat London to two acoustic shows.  He will appear at Islington’s Hope & Anchor (207 Upper Street, Islington) at 8:30 pm on Thursday, July 30th, followed by a secret, closing-time show that same night at a venue to be announced shortly.

The “For George” performances are set for 3:00 pm and 7:30 pm on August 1, 2009, the 38th anniversary of Harrison’s trailblazing Concerts for Bangladesh, the first large-scale musical event dedicated to charity awareness, which took place in 1971.

Jeff Slate

Jeff is hard at work on pre-production for the next album for The Badge, and promises that it will be the one to make the band a household name. Jeff has also been tinkering with a solo album as well as several archival releases including the eventual release of an expanded edition of the Mindless Thinkers' album "anyone for anything" on CD.

"The most impressive of the many bands influenced by the psychedelic Beatles was The Badge from New York and their Random Road was a kissing cousin to Drive My Car. The title track of their recent album Calling Generation Mojo, was one of the festival's many highlights. If young bands can write Lennon and McCartney songs, why can't McCartney?" (Spencer Leigh, BBC)
