Opening for Ari Hest (www.myspace.com/arihest) was one of the best shows I have played to date. He is such an amazing artist and genuine person. I am a big fan of Ari and he kindly played a request I made. If half of the people I met while playing shows were as kind as him this music thing wouldn't be so tough.

I am excited to be playing at Blue Gill's in Mobile in a week because The Last Saints will be back together after a small summer break. Its going to feel so good to play music as a band again.

Mixing on the new Last Saints album is starting today. I can't wait to hear the songs come together.

As for new music that is actually out there, Third Eye Blind has released a previously unreleased song called Persephone. Its good, its real good. Its great to hear some new 3eb. You can hear the new song at www.myspace.com/thirdeyeblind.

The summer slow down is here. Its too hot to play music. Must keep cool by eating ice cream and going swimming. Music will return soon. Around late October thats when the album will be released. Other than that a summer tour is in the works. We'll see you on your home turf.

Recommended listening is my good friend Charlie. His sites are: www.charlieoxfordmusic.com or www.myspace.com/charlieoxfordmusic .

Keep it chill,

The tracks are all recorded for our first four new songs with the full band.  They have to be mixed and mastered but all the hardwork is done. I will post a few on the web when they are ready.  Even though they aren't mixed well I can already hear that they are going to be great.

The Last Show came and went. It was such a joy to play one final time with Sean and Paul and I wish them the best with whatever they chose to do with their lives. I am so thankful for the opportunity to play with such gifted and kind people.

This week we will finish up the recording sessions and of course we'll go out everynight and spend our last days together.

Only a few days left before The Last Show. It feels good with all these dominos falling into place.  The website is done (for now) www.thelastsaints.com and I can see summer just over the horizon.  What does it hold? I don' know but it looks bright and beautiful.

Some people are trying to prevent The Last Saints, The Last Show from occurring.  Its so frustrating meeting walls every time I try to do something great. I will press on and meet the challenges. Tell me "No." and I will try again.  Silence the noises of doubt.  The Last Saints do NOT give up.

Enough of this blog. Go and listen to Eliot Morris' "Faultline" www.myspace.com/eliotmorris and Nickel Creek's "Doubting Thomas," at www.myspace.com/nickelcreek . They heal the soul.

People who write, "Thanks for the add," on stranger's profiles should not be making music. Instead of  putting up a picture of yourself with your shirt off or in some "sexy" pose and writing "thanks for the add," make better music. If you have one billion friends (on myspace) because you are trampy looking, you are a model, NOT a musician. Wait, I take that back, you could be a musician but you are not an artist. We should not confuse what the media calls an artist and that which is just an entertainer. Let us call a spade a spade.  No art of any value is being created here by these "thanks for the add" people.

Here is some advice:

Be patient, be great at your craft. Be true to yourself. Never compromise your morals, values, or family.

New website, new recordings, new band? No, still The Last Saints but the ground work for a full length album has been layed down. This process takes so much time and patience but it is a beautiful opportunity to be creative and inspired.

"An artist's first responsibility is to himself." -Miles Davis-

Always true to The Last Saints. Just keepin' it real.

Sunday I spent the day in the hospital because I was so cold that I could not keep by body still from shiverring than an hour later I was covered in sweat because I was so hot. I still do not know what I have but the end result is pain in my throat. I wake up in the middle of the night because it hurts to swallow.

I am not too worried about my condition and if I'll be ok for the show on Friday at Southport Hall.  For me its not how I sing, its what  I am saying. I put everything into these songs, and I hope that the messages inside each one is conveyed.

In bed until Friday,

-Davey
