Novels is a band that features me, Dean from EX~PO as well as Luke LaLonde (Born Ruffians), Will Currie (Country French), Jay Sad and Graham Wright (Tokyo Police Club).  People thought we were being mysterious by not widely releasing our little record, which was recorded in a single marathon session at Chemical Sound.  Well, the truth about Novels (and our apparent "mysteriousness" was revealed in an article by Brendan Kennedy in today's Toronto Star (Sunday, Dec 20, Entertainment section page 2).

Here's a link to an electronic version of the article:

The making of NOVELS (what we did in the studio for 15 hours)  was documented by filmmaker Wade Vroom and photographer Lesley Marino.  Visit http://www.okaynovels.com to see photos and the film!

Hi,

On December 10th we will be playing the Tranzac (292 Brunswick Ave) to support Lesley Marino's trip to Uganda.  There, she will be photographing the good work of the NGO, Ryan's Well.  Sharing the bill will be LITTLE FOOT LONG FOOT, LOVELY KILLBOTS and JM McNABB!  $10 gets you in.  There will also be a silent auction and raffle!

777 is a magic number.  We are super close to having 777 friends here on myspace (www.myspace.com/extildepo).  When we reach that number, I'm going to do something special here.  Check back and friend us if you haven't already!

Meanwhile, we've been writing, jamming and recording at our space, Chemical Sound.  We hope to start seriously recording in February and have our new record out by September.  Stay tuned for more new album news.

Here we are playing "you glided down" live at Rancho Relaxo.  Yeah, there are some warts in this performance ~ i can't wait to re-record this song with our current line-up and arrangement.

Hi Folks,

Two things:  1) The folks in Krupke have created an awesome video (commercial?) for our show at Bread and Circus this Friday (13th of November).  Watch it and get psyched!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aqut6Qplyrg and 2) A pretty girl named Raina asked us to be a part of a contest on Edge102.   The winning band plays the Edge studio on November 28.  So if you want to see us live again go here: http://www.edge.ca/Music/IndieOnline/Home.aspx and vote for EX~PO.

Thank you Halifax!  We had a great time and felt privileged to have played to a full-house at the Seahorse.  Then we topped it off by playing an afterparty at Myles Deck's rehearsal space!!! Great Fun.  I hope we get to do it next year.

Our bass-man, Todd added some photos to a flicker pool.  Here's a direct cut and paste from our blog, centralmeaner.wordpress.com. Todd Wrote:

Here’s a slideshow of photos I either took or found on my camera after letting other people loose with it.
- Todd.
PS: We’re all in the crowd in the photo below, which was taken by someone and added to the HPX Flickr pool. See if you can spot us. (Look for the devil horns…thanks, Bobby.)

We have some show announcements to make.
On Thursday September 17th, we will be playing a 90’s tribute night, hosted by TWM’s, Dan Wolovick at Rancho Relaxo.  No original material, just 90’s grunge.  Should be a blast!
Later, on Saturday October 17th, we will be returning to Rancho to perform one last time in 2009 (in Toronto anyway). This will be our BIG VINYL BLOWOUT, a final hometown send off for our record, Central Meaner Street, which turns one year old this October! To celebrate (i.e. sellebrate) we will be offering our limited edition vinyl at a very special price (read cheap). Most of these will be the 2nd, unnumbered run of vinyl (includes MP3 download codes from Zunior).  A few of them (8 or 9) are first-edition, which come with hand-made CDs and are numbered (x/300). Confused? We’ll let you record collectors sort it out. This is your last chance to buy vinyl directly from us, at least until we’re back from our writing / recording break.
Now the really big news: we’ll be hitting the Halifax Pop Explosion music festival on Saturday October 24th. More details on our showcase date and time will follow.
Dean.
