"Come Out For Change: A Gay-la For Charity V. 2.0" will be held on May 12th at 8 pm at the Center on Halsted in Chicago, IL.

The first gay-la was sold-out, and raised almost $1,000 for The Equality Illinois Education Project, and the second gayla is an effort to do more of the same. Partial proceeds from this show will benefit Allied for Equality, as well as PFLAG.

Allied for Equality:
(from the website) Allied for Equality is a joint grassroots project of Equality Illinois and PFLAG (Parents Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays). The goal of the project is to create an allied network of advocates across the state of Illinois, specifically targeting straight allies.

PFLAG:
(from the website). PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons, their family and friends through: support; to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and secure equal civil rights. Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays provides opportunities for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.

The Lineup:
Recapitulation - brilliant musical improv

Dan Telfer - "token straight comic", who just opened for Maria Bamford and Paul F. Tompkins!

Cameron Esposito - headlining the night, fresh off of her UK and South Africa performances

Hosted by The Puterbaugh Sisters, Chicagos wacky sister-act

....and more.......

Tickets to the show are $20, and may only be purchased in advance at the Brown Paper Ticket page. (https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/58552)

Seating is general admission and will begin at 7:30, with the show beginning promptly at 8.

There will be a door prize from Early2Bed, and a 50/50 drawing during the show, of which all proceeds will be donated directly to Equality Illinois, Allied for Equality and PFLAG.

Recapitulation gathers the brilliant, the bizarre, and the Botoxed of Hollywood for AWARD SHOW! THE IMPROVISED MUSICAL, a star-studded, extravagant night of award-winning musical improvisation, where the audience, not "The Academy," chooses the winners. Using audience suggestion, Recapitulation dives behind the scenes of Hollywood's most preposterous movie award show, the "Capies," to reveal who's a diva, who's deranged, and the desperate thoughts those smiling nominees are actually thinking.

Our new show opens October 15th!

I SAW YOU: THE IMPROVISED MUSICAL breathes life into those most hopeful, most romantic, most implausible of love's maneuvers, the "missed connection" classified ads. Whether it's small talk in the Dominicks' checkout line, shy glances on the CTA, or eyes locking across a crowded bar, Recapitulation uses a real "I Saw You" ad and audience suggestions to improvise a full musical that follows a missed love connection that actually, fantastically, and musically reconnects.

Hi Folks:

We had an excellent opening night at Gorilla Tango Theatre for our debut of Brat Pack: The Musical.  It was a lot of fun and we hope to see more of you in the next few weeks.  Here's the list of suggestions we received from the audience to play with:

"What's my annoying trait?" - "You talk too much!"
"What's the last thing that made me cry?" - "Demi Moore!"
"What my secret dream?" - "To become an astronaut!"
"What makes me blush?" - "Old ladies!"
"Why don't I fit in?" - "Halitosis!"
"What's my secret super power?" - "You can speak with dogs!"
"Why do I hang out with the young?" - "You like young girls!"
Location that could fit on the stage - "Hamburger joint! (Sonic!)"

Brat Pack In Print!
We were graciously featured as a Metromix Pick last week:

and in The RedEye:

There are plenty more great suggestions to be given, so, we look forward to hearing them every Thursday left in this month!
