So, we kind of made a record.  7 tracks, 26 minutes or so.  It's being mixed at the moment and should be mastered in a few weeks.  It'll be free online or for purchase on iTunes and at shows.

You should listen to it because it's good.

last night i sat on the grass outside a friends apartment and played a bunch of music.  it was great.  it sounded better than the recordings and that means one thing - it's time.

When I first created this account for my music I didn't really know what I planned to do with it, or how far I wanted to take it, or even what it was going to turn into.  But as always, Time reveals truth in all things.  Over the course of the last two years, what started out as a song destined for Run Amok that just sounded pretty good on an acoustic guitar became the basis for a side-project.  As more Time passed, it became obvious that Run Amok had a limited life span, and in its own ways had a lot of restrictions on what I could do with it.  It was powerful, it was energetic, and those things were great, but I was hiding behind a message, behind the energy.  I didn't even have to be myself - at times I was even less of myself because of the associations that the band itself carried.

I don't have any of that anymore.  I don't have an attitude or a social agenda to hide behind.  There's no amp to jump off, no barrier to kick over.  Nothing to protect me from myself, or from you.  Just the music.  So, I hope you can take something from it.  Watch this space over the next few months as it all takes shape, and hopefully we can learn something from each other.

Thanks.
- chris.

I figured I should probably post something to get the ball rolling, but what?  An introduction?  "Hi I'm Chris, you don't know me but I'm [blank]"?  Something to sound cool?  Enough name-dropping to kill a medium-sized giraffe?  Maybe a combination of the above.  Yeah, okay, I'll do that.

I've been playing in and around bands for a long time now, and up front, I've got to say that it's been the most consistently awesome thing in my life for a long time.  People move houses, girlfriends come and go, but music?  Music will never betray you, it won't eat your museli bars, it won't leave dirty underwear on the bathroom floor.  It won't lie to you or borrow money without asking.  It won't say it's going to be somewhere and then not turn up.  Once you've heard something, it stays with you.  And that's what I'd like to do, stay with people.  Say something that really makes them feel something, think something, or better yet, do something.

I've been looking at this photo I took now for a long time.

I found it stencilled on a light-post base out the back of a liquor store.  It's the ultimate piece of street art.  "I will touch the sun or I will die trying."  Amazing.  Just amazing.  It says something about the tenacity, the sheer resolve of that little red man, and his ability to convert that into action and result.  He's even found a way through the sharp edges and is making his way inwards.  He did it, he touched the sun.

I'm going to touch the sun.
