i'm always looking for good folks to have as models. gender, size, etc is unimportant as long as you have some experience performing on the stage and have some really great costumes to peel off. also, you've gotta be cool with your body, people appreciating it openly and you've got to be able to talk to the crowd some.

if you'd like to be a dr. sketchy's model for the boston sessions (second sundays) please plan on coming to a session and send me a message at aliza @ truthserum.org (close the gaps)  in the subject line write, dr. sketchy boston, so it doesn't get lost. and send a photo of yourself, your myspace link etc. tell me about your experience that would make you a good model. i really want perspective models to come to a session before they sigh up, so please plan on this.also, promotion is part of the job...you've got to get folks to come to see you and support you.

as for posters: i always need designers. it's a great way to showcase your work...they'll be plastered all over the boston area. i'd love it if artists from the sessions would start making posters... email me at aliza @ truthserum.org and write posters in the subject line.

thanks.

Sunday April 6, 2008 early!
Heywood Wakefield teaches "Strap it Down, Pack it In" at The Boston Skillshare
MIT’s Stata Center
32 Vassar Street Cambridge
Sunday 12:45 PM to 2:15 PM. $3-10 sliding scale donation.
http://www.truthserum.org

Drag King Heywood Wakefield teaches you how to apply facial hair, strap down breasts, pack a realist buldge in your pants, and strut like a king. This workshop is for women and trans adults only. Check here for more information about the workshop. Workshop participants who are 21+ will be invited to join us at TraniWreck later in the evening for a "walk off" where they can show their look on the stage at the Milky Way.

Here’s the workshop description:
Want to be a King for a night? Want to add some swagger to your personal gender expression? Or create a character for your fantasy role-playing repertoire? Whether you want to hit the stage, hang out with the guys at the local pub, or fulfill a fantasy in the bedroom, it’s all gender performance! Maybe you’re a butch just looking for some fun, or an FTM looking for realistic facial hair tips. Maybe you’re a femme wanting a walk on the other side of the gender spectrum, or a MTF looking for a gender bending experience. This workshop can help you harness masculine power and the privilege of Royalty. Boston’s Heywood Wakefield, will teach you the art of binding, packing and passing. The workshop will cover identity creation, make-up and costuming, physical manifestations of masculinity, and a discussion of masculinity and drag performance history. We’ll provide the necessary make up and facial hair materials, you provide your characters’ attire if you really want to do it up.

Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School Cabaret Life Drawing Session
Great Scott
1222 Commonwealth Ave (corner of Harvard and Commonwealth) Allston
$7 2:30pm 18+ (bring your ID, this is a bar)
http://www.truthserum.org

Featuring this month’s model and poster designer/artist: Miss Jess
Dr. Sketchy’s is what happens when cabaret meets art school.

Aside from the standard structure of short poses to warm you up and then longer ones to give you more time to concentrate, this is definitely not your typical life drawing class. The model wears awesome outfits and slowly strips out of them! The model talks! You’ll clap for them and hoot and holler! You’ll tip them! You’ll chat with your neighbor! There is no teacher to embarrass you when you don’t produce enough! You get to drink and draw without getting in trouble! There are snacks! Now is the time to heal those art school wounds. Dr. Sketchy’s will guide you.

I’ve been trying to get Scream Club to come to Boston since I saw them at Homo A GoGo in 2002. Maybe since even before that...my love for them causes delerium. They’re fun, smart, and know how to get you to shake your ass. They’re also super nice folks, and them’s the only kind of folks I do business with. D’hana and I cooked up this special blend that’s going make you smile. and dance. and be happy to be alive.

Scream Club + Taiphoon Fantastic + DJ D’hana + DJ David Dancer = Dance Party Central

Scream Club:
"SCREAM CLUB, the Queer Electro Sex Hop Hip Pop Punk Rock Glam Rap Duo from Olympia, WA, are two freaky white rapper chicks stopping hearts everywhere. Cindy Wonderful and Sarah Adorable, two gaysymmetrical superheroes, have come to spread the message of fun to queerions, hip hoppers, and rockers all over the world.

These queer icons write songs about heartbreak, frustration, love, politics, drunk dialing, girl gangs, and international adventures all with tight lyrics and killer hooks. Scream Club plays shows across the world from Berlin to Amsterdam to Austin TX, from triple-story dance clubs, to punk venues, squats, rooftops, arenas, and basements.

Scream Club are 2 blinged-out, positive, sexy, feminist, intelligent, gender queer rockers. Their energy is contagious and their beats are unstoppable. We are also aware that we are white rappers and feel that rap as a means of artistic and creative expression need not be limited to one ethnic group. We fully acknowledge the origins of hip hop and rap and are in no way trying to disrespect that.

We are avant garde glam rock for the 21st century coupled with d.i.y. queer politics. We want to inspire you AND make you dance!"

Taiphoon Fantastic:
"Taiphoon Fantastic is the electrifying, all girl, freestyle urban/dance group that is about to take Boston on it’s knee and spank it a little. Taiphoon Fantastic brings the candy coated beats that make your booty go bang bang. Dirty disco, horny hip hop, and sexy soul made to violate your ear drums."

Nicky Click:
Not doing a full set but joining Scream Club on collaborative songs.
DJ D’hana:
DJ for The Neighborhood and other random goodies
DJ David Dancer:
1/2 of Hot Lunch (R.I.P.) and currently Movement
Systyr Act:
I’ve just gotten word from the abbey that Systyr Mary Louise Parker, Systyr Sarah Jessica Parker, and Systyr Parker Posey of The Church of the Children are returning to Boston from their 6 month Mohegan Sun Mission. That’s right! The Systyrs have heard the children of Boston’s cries for help and are returning to save your sorry souls.
