Could it be? A blog update? New content finally? You bet your leather clad asses its true.

2007 was an awesome year,  "Vida Sacrificum Meum Est" arrived and conquered, we had a blast playing local shows like Full Battle Order, the opening night of Alternation at DXO, hell, we even did an acoustic show believe it or not! December saw us jetting off to Bangkok, Thailand for the Wild Scream MetalFest to rock the proverbial socks off the Thai metalheads (including one crazy motherfucker in a mexican wrestling mask and his gloved hand on fire!).

So what's up next for 2008?

For starters, 26th January sees us Waking Up The Dead with our friends Anthelion (Taiwan), Bhelliom, Truth Be Known, Meth and MetalGunz at the Arts House Playden! Check out the gig poster on the front page, Tickets are $17 from Inokii/Clairvoyant/Roxy Records or $20 at the door..

But wait! A little birdie (or bat, if birdies aren't metal enough) has it that we might just be doing Deafcon 10 sometime in February! Word has it Deafcon 10's going to be a BIG one..start warming up for the moshpit now kids!

We know it's taken forever but we've finally got some new T-shirts available! Really nice Hanes ones too without the stupid sleeves that stick out and make you look like a muppet...Check em' out below. Did i mention these are a strictly limited edition too? Be the envy of your friends (or laughing stock) and drop us a message to order one today! Or just rock up at a show and head for the merch table..

And guess what? We finally have a banner of our own for you to pimp us out on your myspace, blog, porn site etc! It's up on the main page with the coding and stuff, but here it is anyway.

Last but not least..You guys are probably sick and tired of listening to the same old songs and believe me, so are we. So get ready for a brand new mini-release coming your way in the next few months! We won't give too much away just yet,but expect an interesting interpretation of an old favourite, a heavy-assed cover of a completely-out-of-character song for us, and GASP! A brand new epic original!

We are...REBORN. oh wait, we just picked our lazy asses off the couch.

whats up guys! long time no blog..forgive us as always..

where do we start..interviews!

The Aging Youth webzine did a KILLER interview with us where we talk about the album, our gear, and uhm cloudfish and ejaculations. check it out here: http://www.agingyouth.com/2007/interviews/mezavirs.htm

SiamMetal.com did a slightly more sedate one with us, still an interesting read nonetheless: http://siammetal.com/interview_view.php?id=37

Speaking of interesting reads, SGFreakylinks has an interview up with us on the subject of the now-demolished Hillview Mansion, where we shot the video for "Tragic Vendetta" years ago. In it, we recount the various spooky experiences we had in the house while filming, definately one of the weirder interviews i've done, but well worth a look at. http://sgfreakylinks.com/index.php under "Articles", though you'll have to do a quick registration to view the site first.

reviews reviews reviews!

"Vida Sacrificium Meum Est is an impossibly accomplished specimen of symphonic metal polished to a thick black sheen." - The Aging Youth webzine.

Check out the full review here: http://www.agingyouth.com/reviews/reviews_29.htm

"...a thoroughly professional and slickly executed debut with none of that Satanism, death, war and torture themes so prevalent in this field." - Think Online

http://www.think.com.my/review.cfm?rev_ID=448

"..Meza Virs have the potential to play in the uppermost leagues of metal" -oblivion.de (9.5/10)

Oblivion.de are one of the biggest webzines in Germany for metal/goth music so we're pretty stoked about this one, full review is here but its in German heh. http://www.obliveon.de/pn-om/modules.php?op=modload&name=tplcdimport&file=index&req=showcontent&id=9813&cfletter=M

Finally, SiamMetal.com has a really in-depth review of the album at http://www.siammetal.com/review_view.php?id=190, if you understand Thai that is..

now that's out of the way.. onto the good stuff! Meza Virs have formulated our devious plans for the upcoming year..all will be fully revealed in good time. It will be a very metal national day in Singapore (August 9th in case you've forgotten), and we'll soon have the pleasure of playing for our friends in Hong Kong.. more details as they are confirmed.

Finally..in the midst of all the frantic rehearsals we'll once again be heading into the depths of Inversion Studios to record a track or two in the near future.. we weren't lying when we said you guys wouldnt have to wait another 4 years for new material ;)

that's it for now..to everyone here on myspace who has left us encouraging comments and messages of support...we fucking appreciate it! thank you guys so much and keep the comments flowing..stay metal and we'll see you all real soon.

horns up,

Our debut album "Vida Sacrificium Meum Est" has been out for slightly over a month now and the reviews are now streaming in...here's two of them for your reading pleasure...

Junk Magazine (February 07 Issue) - by Pixi[e]dub
Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars

Excellent debut album by Singapore symphonic metal band Meza Virs. On first superficial listen, they could be compared to pop-metal band Evanescence, but Vida Sacrificium Meum Est is definately not half as radio-friendly. The tunes are tight, the male growling vocals are evil while the female vocals by singer Jasmine are surprisingly powerful, sweet and lush.
Technically speaking, this band's got it. The shredding, the amazing double-pedal action, especially apparent on "The Apocrypha". Kudos to drummer Tjinn who bangs his way through the entire 4:23 min track, not missing a beat. However, there are portions of the album where the keyboards stood out in a slightly tinny and under-produced way - much more like a regular synthesizer than a Korg Triton, which didn't do justice to the arrangment and the skills of keyboardist Ying.

FiRST Magazine (February 07 Issue) - by Drew

Singapore may be missing an influential pop music scene, but thanks to local metal bands like Meza Virs, our tiny island has caught the attention of hardcore metalheads in Europe. The band's sound can best be described as symphonic metal, like a heavier Evanescence. The album has a dark feel about it, and is at times brutal and heavy, and at others acoustic and melodic. The haunting vocals of singer Jasmine hold up well against the grind of the guitars and furious drumming.

There you go..so if you havent gotten the album yet, what are you waiting for?
