Just so you all know, this Mix tape almost didn't happen. EVERYTHING that could go wrong with this mix, DID go wrong and mostly on my end. I'll spare you the nitty gritty details, but I'll elaborate some.
Basically it consumed 3 weeks of my life and cost me sleep and horrid ear pain (head phone fatigue). Since I did my mix live, I had to do around 100000 million and a half takes to get it to sound ALMOST perfect. Then time ran out and I stopped caring, so there's like 2 mixes on there that aren't 100% perfect and just barely off.
oh, but it gets better...
After I finally got a decent take, the program I'm using to record decideds to crap out on me and I wasn't able to open the program! and since all the takes were labeled IN the program, I had no way of telling them apart outside of the program. by this time the mix was due long long ago. so what I had to do was install the demo version of the program, open up the saved project in it (I can't save or export a WAV in the demo version), do all the vol adjustments I needed to do, and throw a compressor on the master track. I opened up sound forge, unplugged my speakers, ran a cable from the line OUT on my computer to the line IN, hit play on the program with my final mix and hit record in soundforge and ghetto sampled my entire 40 min set.
so i obviously felt pretty smart, cuz I managed to make this work. however, since this was so last minute we had not time to 'double check' anything, so we sent out the master and got it pressed. unfortunately during this 'ghetto sampling' the buffer got a little maxed out, so for a split second on one of my tracks, it skips. (NOOOOOOOOOOO).
So if you just so happen to be listening to Track 39 and get 48 secs through it and hear it skip (sorry Shane, Theo, Matt I pooped on your song) , just think: "damn I'm even lucky I got to hear any of this awesome mix. and wow, this song is good, I think I'll go BUY THE CD where there is no stupid DJ to make the song skip."
Anyways, I'm done ranting, here's the crap you wanna see:
