So you wanna play Appalachian Brewing Company, huh? Here's what you gotta do:

  1. Send us a press kit. And keep it simple, please. We don't like getting gigantic packages in the mail. It's tough on the Postal Workers. A CD, photo, one page bio, and 'venues played' list and phone and email contact info will suffice. Mail all press kits to:

ABC c/o Roundtable Presents

1519 N Front St Suite 6F

Harrisburg PA 17102

  1. Follow up with an email. Ever heard the saying 'Don't call us, we'll call you'?  We have. No phone calls, please. To follow up and offer us a friendly reminder of who you are and what you play, send an email to abc@roundtablepresents.com with 'FOLLOW UP' in the subject line. (don't take that part personally, we get TONS of inquiries and phone calls, no matter how ambitious you may think you're being, don't make our process any easier.

Once you're booked, you'll need to do this:

  1. Sign and return the contract we fax or mail you PROMPTLY. This will ensure that we give you exactly what we discuss as well as assure that you provide us with what you promise from your band or act.
  2. PROMOTE YOUR SHOW! This is one thing that we cannot stress enough! Send us posters at least 4 weeks before your show; send handbills that we can leave in spots that people will grab them; here's a few local press and promotion spots you can contact:

Harrisburg Nightlife- www.harrisburgnightlife.com

Harrisburg Online- www.hbgonline.com

PA Midstate Events- www.pamidstate.com

Jambase- www.jambase.com

Fly Magazine- www.flymagazine.com

  1. On the day of your show-
    1. Get there and set up on time. If you're scheduled to start at 10, you should allow at least two hours for load in, set up, sound check and some time to chill and enjoy a beer or three before your set.
    2. Time your break(s) accordingly. Try to limit set break to about 20 minutes.
    3. Take care of your bartender/server!! (This one's pretty important) Remember that no matter what your food and drink rider may include, the servers are still serving and the bartenders are still working. Try to use the 15% rule based on what your rider/bar tab comes out to. We'll never forget that one band that played to a packed house, made some good dough, ate and drank over $100 worth of food and drink, and left a $5 dollar tip. Kindness always comes back to kindness.
    4. Sell merch! Don't be afraid to work the crowd at set break with a stack of CD's and a mailing list.
    5. Respect the 'house rules' with regard to sound. If you bring your monster PA and think that you need to crank it to 11, maybe you're playing the wrong room. Our hearing is probably just as damaged as yours, but our patrons hearing isn't. Please keep your levels at a reasonable volume.
    6. Last but not least, HAVE FUN!

The Abbey Bar at Appalachian Brewing Company (50 N Cameron St, Harrisburg PA) and Roundtable Presents are pleased to announce an exciting new Open Mic Night at ABC every Thursday at 9PM.

After a 7 week hiatus, ABC and RTP have redefined the Open Mic Format with a rotating weekly schedule of host bands including The Green Onions (jam/rock), herbie (melodic rock), Spotus (jazz fusion) and Second Wind featuring Sara B Simpson (folk rock).

In deciding on a rotating host opposed to one single weekly host, Roundtable and ABC hope to see great variety in performers and welcome all who want to showcase their talents to the stage at one of the most supportive original music venues in Harrisburg.

Departing from the mostly blues focused open mics hosted at The Abbey Bar, Roundtable Presents invites all genres from pop and rock to jam and bluegrass to perform in one of the  dozen scheduled 15 minute timeslots.

Provided for anyone wishing to perform will be a full drum kit, bass rig, guitar amps, and microphones to allow full bands, singer songwriters and spoken word artists an opportunity to show their talents.

Recently investing in major sound system and power system upgrades, ABC and RTP are taking the steps to establish The Abbey Bar as the premier venue for live, original music in the region.
