So here's what's New

First off - NEW RECORDS Pre-SELLING NOW!!

Sorry for yelling but we're just so dang excited. First off Cat Scientist's Cicada is just so irresistable you have to get it and Attack Formation's Let the notes drip from our lips to yours is nothing short of genius. If buying records in stores is your thing they hit shelves on 8/22/06 nationwide. If your store doesn't have it they can get it so make 'em. Thanks.

Records slated for September are coming right along too. The mastered Cobra Bloog Hangover by The International Playboys is one of most straight up rocking effort we've heard in a long time and samples will be up soon. Check out the cover art by Win Wallace here. Gorch Fock is nearly done with their third album Thriller and it promises to be their best release yet. Both of those will hit stores on September 12th and will be available for pre-order through the site very soon.

Both Gorch Fock and The Snake Trap are preparing to hit the mid-west in June and July. Fock will hit the road on 6/23 and kickoff their tour in OKC at the Conservatory. The Snake Trap meet them on the the return leg of their tour in Columbia, MO at Mojo's. Peep the tour dates here.

Speaking of The Snake Trap, they have begun work on their debut release, that is still untitled (eh'hem, come on guys, sheesh...). which is set to come out in October along with TIa Carrera's third release that, actually, still is not named either. And here's some actual brand new info. Australian Cattle God has just signed Dianne and the Shell from Italy. Their new record 30,000 Feet Tarantella was recorded by Sascha Tilotta and produced by Augostino Tilotta, both of Bellini and Uzeda. All three will hit shelves October 10th.

Australian Cattle God Records signs Cat Scientist, The International Playboys and more

Australian Cattle God Records is proud to announce the addition of Cat Scientist (Austin, TX), The International Playboys (Missoula, MT) and The Snake Trap (Austin, TX) to their roster of diverse and unique talent.

Cat Scientist has been moving bodies in Austins clubs for nearly 3 years with their infectious and quirky dance-pop.  With members that have played in bands like Poison 13, Brown Whornet, Knife in the Water, The Horsies, and the Meat Purveyors, it is no surprise that Cat Scientists music draws on many forms and synthesizes them into what can only be described as poppy bliss.  Their music also draws on many varied subjects lyrically that add a quirky ingredient to their recipe.  With subject matter that ranges from saving kittens from terrorist attack to being stuck in traffic at I-35 and Riverside Drive the overall effect is equally reminiscent of the Talking Heads as it is of Ween.  Delivered by the duet of Ray Craig and Brant Bingamon the result is nothing short of brilliance. Their debut CD LP Cicada drops nationally on August 22nd.

The International Playboys have been one of the countrys hardest working un-signed acts since 1999.  Hailing from big sky country, theyve put in over 80,000 miles in the last 4 years supporting their self-released albums, most recently coming to Austin for SXSW 2006 to play the Australian Cattle God Records showcase.  Musically these guys are straight up Rock and Roll with a good sense of humor and passionate delivery.  There is no need for hyphenated sub-genrefication here.  They deliver beer-fueled rockers about being a playboy, country-tinged rockers about that crummy day job and tongue in cheek rockers about the lifestyle of an International Playboy.  Their performances are wildly animated with drummer Joe Danger flailing like Animal the Muppet, singer Monty Carlo gesticulating and genuflecting madly, guitarist Captain Sextastic stroll-soloing through the audience and bassist The Count holding it all together from his place stage right.  Their third full length, Cobra Blood Hangover hits shelves on September 12th nationally just in time for their support spot on NoMeansNos fall US tour.

The Snake Trap is comprised of Bryan Nelson (Gorch Fock, School Trauma Flashback et al) on drums, Lee Brooks (ACG Records) on guitar and Taj Mihelich (T1 BMX) on bass.  Their instrumental rock songs utilize interlocking guitar and bass lines that are melodic yet maintain a tension that compels the listener to stay vigilant.  When beginning their live performance career the band played only 1 twenty-five minute song announcing proudly at the beginning of their performances, Hi, were the Snake Trap.  This is our last song.  While maintaining that song in their repertoire theyve since written much more material that takes influence in proportion from the likes of Black Flag, Slint, The Redneck Manifesto and the Oxes.  Their not yet titled debut will hit stores on October 10th.

ACG roster veterans arent left out of the new release wave.  Attack Formation, Gorch Fock and Tia Carrera all have upcoming releases just around the corner.

Australian Cattle God has picked up Attack Formations prior album Let the Notes Drip From our Lips to Yours for North American distribution for their limited run imprint Blue Healer.  It will be in stores August 22nd.

Noise-mongers Gorch Fock have a new offering as well.  Their 3rd full length, Thrilller, is in the final stages of recording and mixing at the now relocated Sweatbox Studio (the original studio was destroyed by a series of fires in January 06).  Although the tapes were in the original Sweatbox at the time of the 2nd fire they miraculously escaped being either burnt or waterlogged despite being in the heavily damaged control room, beneath mounds of debris. Thrilller is on shelves nationwide on Sept. 12th.

Tia Carrera are hard at work as well recording their follow up to The November Session.  Still not named, this album will be in stores on October 10th.

Wow. SXSW 2006 was an extremely busy and rockin' time here at ACGR. Our showcase at Spiro's patio 3/15 was a smashing success. Thanks to all the guys at Arclight records also for sharing the night with us. Tia Carrera was jamming out of control, The International Playboys were rocking hard and tight, and Gorch Fock played with an unprecedented 10 members on stage, including Don Stewart from Migas and Ben Webster from AttackFormation. At the ACGR headquarters backyard we held two amazing shows, Fuck By Fuck Y'all on Friday and Fuck By Fuck You on Saturday. Both shows were packed to the hilt with free beer, excellent music, and good attitudes. It is amazing what can happen when friends put their minds together and all work toward a specific goal. We can't wait til next year!! Our Japanese friends all had an great time as well. Tsu Shi Ma Mi Re and The Emeralds were back in the USA in full force, and many other bands like Ellegarden, The Rodeo Carburettor, Stance Punks, P'Ez, and Vasallo Crab 75 made their US live debut. Craziness and rock in general is the reason for the season.

K.

This is Lee from ACG/ The Snake Trap.

I checked my messages this morning before day job and had a couple of frantic messages left while I slept.

I got down there at about 7:15 and there were still some fire fighters around.  The power was out so it was difficult to see the details of the damage but with the fire fighter's mag light I was able to determine that the Gorch Fock/The Snake Trap/Win Wallace's Studio was pretty much undamaged.  It was very smelly and a little bit nauseating so some airing out will definitely be in order.

I walked back to the Sweatbox and was able to get in as the Firefighters had broken the locks to look for spreading of the fire and to ventilate the building.  It seemed like everything in there was okay too.

Jeff Swanson's art studio (Across from Sweatbox) was closer to the fire and had some water on the floor.  We got all of  his painting s out of the water on the florr and I think that his stuff is mostly okay.

More damage won't be known until we have power and can look around.

Yeah, it really sucks to have the bulding that you and friends practice and paint and draw and engineer in and record in, but it really could have been a lot worse.  Everything in there could have gone up in smoke and luckily that didn't happen.

Maybe it was the Fire Station less than a block away or maybe it was just dumb luck but all in all I'm greatful that we didn't lose it all.

I didn't go upstairs to KOOP but from speaking with some who did it seems like they're equipment came out okay too.

There were a couple of different news teams out there taking footage.  I don't know which ones specifically but I'll probably be on TV tonight smelling like burnt plastic looking silly.  They went all over the place so you can gander at that.

I might have some pics to post in a little while.
