What's Up Family, (Friends And Family Are One In The Same )
Most of yall heard , or read , or seen the story about me ( I Hope ) . But If You Haven't .....Here Goes.
I was fired from Scott's Lawn Service for failing a drug test for nicotine. Someone from Scott's sent an anonynous email to Sean Kelly ( Channel 5 investigative reporter ) . Sean ran the segment on the 11 o'clock news and while it was pretty cool , my phone wasn't ringing with calls from lawyers like I'd hoped.
I contacted a few lawyers , but they weren't the type I was looking for. I came across a lawyer named Harvey Swartz who has been in law for many years , and specializes is wrongful termination , sexual harrassment , etc etc. I sent him an email with the video code for the channel 5 video , and he got back to me pretty quick. He was interested because of the possible slippery slope involved , among many other reasons.
If i was told five years ago that I better quit smoking , because I might not be able to get a job , I would've laughed. Well, Everyone better lose weight , stop driving motorcycles , and quit any activity that might be an insurance risk or it will be "YOU" that loses your job. Unless of course I win my case , and protect we the people from business owners dictating what their employees do "Legally" on their own time. There's 28 states in America that accually allow this , Massachusettes isn't one of them.
Check this out ! My lawyer file the lawsuit and my phone rang off the hook. It all took me by storm. The first was The Boston Globe . They rocked my picture on the front page before I knew it. Then of course the Herald ran the story , and so on and so forth. Well, the next day I had channel 4 , 5 , and 7 in my living room , while I was my house phone with the Associated Press , and on my cell phone with the London Times.
I really wanted to stop the world so I could get off. Even though I've always wanted to be famous , it was too much all at once. Later that night I started getting calls from radio talk shows from all over the U.S. who were trying to set up interviews with me. I did WRKO , and it was like jumping into the lion's den. It really prepared me for what was to come ,because soon after. I did "Greater Boston" with host Emily Rooney ( Andy Rooney's Daughter) and shared the green room with President Bush's sister. I was rushed over to Fox where I did a local broadcast and a Live National Broadcast on THE BIG STORY with John Gibson.
A day or so later I did an interview for Reuters and The story was all over Europe and Africa. I did Radio talk shows in London , Greece , Italy , and Ireland. It was a long day , and I tried to get some sleep , but my phone kept ringing. Around 3 o'clock in the morning I got a phone call from a woman in South Africa. She told me she had a form of MS , and that many of her family members were HIV positive . She heard me on the radio and was praying for me , and explained that if I can help Massachusettes , then maybe it'll spread to the rest of America , and usually after America things spread to the rest of the world. She really touched me . I told her , "you might hear me say that I love America , but understand that America is a way of life , I love everyone on earth, you're not second to anyone". It sounds corny but she really gave me the power to keep going. People from all over the world have been calling me , and it motivates me like crazy. I'm supposed to be on "Montel" , "DR. Keith Ablow" , and "GMA" , the "Today show" , and hopefully "SNL". Now , magazines are getting into it , and I will be in an up-coming edition of " BUSINESS WEEK" , ( maybe on the cover ) aas well as others that are being set up as we speak.
There's alot more to the story , but I'm saving it for the book that I'm co-writting . Google my name ( scott rodrigues) for more. There are pages , and pages to look at. This whole thing has been really time consuming , and I don't get in here enough , but I'm trying to .
