Substance 1st Birthday! - Cup Eve @ Roxanne Parlor



After a two month break the Substance crew are ready to turn up the heat and what better way to do it with a fuck off big birthday bash hosted by Roxanne's Parlour! What was once the old Cage nightclub has been unbelievably re modelled and the Substance crew are preparing to reap unholy havoc for the mere sake of it being our Birthday. Not prepared to do it alone we have invited the creme of Melbourne's "Cirque de DJ" to smash sounds sideways. We also welcome our first DJ Exchange from our sister club Invlolved in QLD; DJ Travis Lucas.
It's only cup eve once a year and the best excuse to be seedy, suspect and squinty eyed in front of the TV would have to be that you have just messed ya'self at our first birthday. So tell your friends, let them tell their friends, and then tell their friends mothers to get their asses down to Substance 1st birthday and help us celebrate that we made it through a year and we're getting ready for the many more to come!

The free party train gets geared up and ready to roar for another night of Softbelly mayhem. And with the advent of the 2am lockout Substance is the perfect place to start you night as when the clock strikes one, go elsewhere and have more fun!

Substance welcome the DJ Tracker crew to kick off proceedings early in the back bar building up to a J-slyde classic trance set in the back. Having been an outlet for the Melbourne Scene for so long DJtracker dot com has finally retired and to say goodbye we're saying bon voyage from 7-10pm.

We have guests galore this month, with Regular rotating resident Ben Evans hopping in from Interview duties to smash the sounds out left right and center. We also welcome Chubbs Deluxe (Bass/PHD) and 6 Head Slug (Fear) rocking it out for us. Usually known for there harder edge sounds the boys are punching out a different kind of flava for the Substance massif!

However our special guest for the back room is yet another talented producer that we have unearthed whilst on our many shenanigan laiden missions. Unknown to many but yet having achieved so much Kaysh is one of the unfound gems of the Melbourne Electronica scene. With a rich homegrown electro flava, her production speaks for itself, solid, upfront and articulate. A string of releases through beatport have followed and an accolade of awards have also pursued her production with many more to come for sure.
