Hey there again Amigos,

My latest record is finally finished!!! It's called ENCONTRE MI CAMINO and it will be out on October 23rd. I cannot wait for everyone to hear it, it's probably the one album that I have ever felt this strongly about. As some of you may have read in my Vegas Motivation blog, I am still feeding on this new found motivation for my music career and this album truly does reflect that...like the title says, I really have found my way to this huge difference in heart towards my passion for music. Hope everyone sees that once they hear the new songs. This is one of the major reasons I started taping for the mini show that will be up on my myspace and website this Thursday October 11. It's basically about my journey from my small town in Michigan to the capitol of Tejano Music: San Antonio, Texas. I wanted to share a piece of my life with everyone...making the album and a few other cool things that have been going on lately.  Check out the TRAILER video on my myspace page when ya get a chance! My official website will also finally be up this Thursday as well, www.meganleyva.com. The Album Release party details will also be posted very very soon, new songs up very soon too...hope to see you all out there and that you enjoy the new stuff!!!!!  Big thanks for all of your support. Hey Friends!

Just wanted to let everyone know what they can be looking for in the weeks to come! Right now I am in the studio recording my latest album and it's going great. In the coming weeks we have a few projects that I'd like to share with you. I have been taping a lot lately and I am super excited to announce that I'll be posting what we like to call WEBISODES on my myspace. The first WEBISODE date will be announced soon. There are a lot of things that I wanted to share with all the Tejano music fans out there and what better way than to tape it? It's sort of a behind the scenes look at whats been going on and all that jazz. Look for a sneak peek of this project very soon!!!  I am very happy to be working with Ms. Jess Carr on this project.  Also, look for a complete new look right here on my page as well as my official website www.meganleyva.com soon as well. Thanks for reading and for all of your support!

As everyone knows, the Vegas Convention has just passed. I wanted to take this time to share more details and information on what's been going on in my life over the past few months. There's always been this weary feeling inside of me that wondered if this (being my music career) is what I should be doing and focusing all of my energy on. Don't get me wrong, music is my life and I love, love, love it. However, there's always been that feeling in the back of my mind that I should play it safe and finish my degree for the next two years. As of now, I can honestly, truly say, that music is what I really want and what I deserve to give my all to.

This past weekend was the motivational boost that I really needed. It gave me a new found confidence in myself, in my career, and it makes me believe more than anything that this is what I was meant to do.  Several of you have been asking and/or maybe heard that I was going back to school this fall to finish my bachelor's and I'd like to tell you about that now. I finally made the move to San Antonio from Michigan last fall to be closer to the Tejano Music scene.  Firstly, it was somewhat difficult to go from being around family and kids in the family all the time, to going away across the country with very little family. So by the time summer came, I was ready to come back to my comfort zone and surround myself with all of those that I love and really really think about what I wanted to do in my life.  I applied to the University of Texas and Michigan State University because at that point I was determined that I should go back to school. I patiently awaited notice of my acceptance figuring that there was a chance I wouldn't get accepted to one or the other which would determine where I was "meant" to be for the next year.  To my surprise, I was accepted to both.  At that time, I wasn't sure what I was going to do because I've always been one to play it safe and take the safe road. And while that's not a bad quality to have, sometimes life and success require taking risks and chances. School seemed like the "safe" way to go and also seemed like it was the "right" thing to do.  I went back and forth the rest of the summer; questioning and praying that I could find an answer as to what I was suppose to do.  School would be five days a week and while I liked to believe I would still have time for my music, a big part of me knew I was kidding myself.  After much contemplation, I decided that Michigan State was going to be the best way to go, and then went to orientation, signed up for classes, and even bought my books.   Then there was one thing that I didn't think was coming: the Tejano Vegas Convention.

In the back of my mind and as of about a week ago, I was supposed to go back to MSU on August 27. The decision to go to Vegas for the convention was a very very last minute decision that I'm so grateful we decided to make.  We literally bought our plane tickets a couple nights before the event! The more and more people asked me my plans for the Fall, the more I began to re-think my school decision. Vegas was just the thing I needed. It truly gave me such a tremendous motivational boost and new found confidence in myself and my career that I think I was lacking. I cannot pinpoint the exact reason, sometimes things just happen and I'm grateful that it did.  With all that being said, I want everyone to know who may have been unsure or wondered if I was going back to school to know that I want to focus all of attention on this next album, therefore, I will not be attending school.  That's not to say school is not important, because I'll be the first one to tell you how much it really is.  The way I look at things right now is that school will always be there: when there's a will, there's a way.  No one can ever take away education and I owe it to myself to go back for two more years and get my bachelors in the future. But right now, I believe even more that I owe it to myself to give music my all that it deserves. I don't want to look back one day and think about the "what ifs". Life is too short and you should do what you feel.  Music on the other hand, may not always be there and for the time being I want to take advantage of that fact that it is.  I thank the lord everyday for the talent he gave me and I am truly blessed to have the choice to even use it. Right now, my choice is what I've always loved: Music.

P.S. Thanks for reading and for believing in me, I hope it answered any questions you guys may have had. Right now I am headed back to San Antonio to finish my album and am going to work so hard at promoting it on the road. There are a lot of cool ideas that we have leading up to the release, so please check back for all the latest. Let me know your thoughts and feedback...

This was my first year at the Tejano Music Convention in Las Vegas and I would like to firstly mention what an amazing event it is.  I had one of the best times there and we had a hard time leaving Vegas!! Although it was a very last minute decision, I'm so glad I had the opportunity to attend. It was so unbelievably great to see all of the artists and friends that made it out there-Dave Biondi and everyone at B-NET Radio, Rebecca Valadez, Veronica y Avance, Candace, Javier Galvan, long time no see Dee, Delia, Chente Barrera, Marcos, Kylie, Eddie Perez & Fam., and sooo many more (if I forgot anyone, blame it on my lack of sleep).  Meeting alot of people for the first time including some friends here on myspace like Mario, Nahum, and Mike (just to name a few) was pretty awesome! On another note, the shows were incredible! I was very disappointed that we missed Sunny & Eddie for The Reunion...heard I missed out. After that I tried hard to make sure I didn't miss anyone else. We found ourselves enjoying the songs of Los Lobos, Shelly Lares, Los Despoz, La Tropa F, Jessy Serrata, Joe Posada, Leslie, Lugo, Ram w/ Emilio, Chente Barrera y Taconazo, Rebecca Valadez, Dee and Delia, and I even found myself getting pulled up on stage to dance the Charranga with Hugo Gurerro! lol.  Which was pretty spontaneous for me...so thanks Tiny, Leroy, Mom, and Pablo for the extra nudge. Special thanks to everyone that had a part in making this event possible including David & Sarah Chavez, Ricardo Hernandez, and Jackie Payne. Most importantly thanks goes out to all the Tejano fans that made it out to the Convention!  It was great meeting you guys. I look forward to attending next years for the Homecoming in Dallas. Check out the pics from Vegas on my page if you get a chance!

Current mood:EXCITED

I could not sleep last night...I finally got to meet Jason Mraz! And I met Toca for the second time yesterday! Okay so we parked out back where all the tour buses were and got there around 6:45 ish and we started heading toward the door and it was perfect timing because Toca was there in the parking lot...he stopped and chatted with us for a few and took a pic with me...and he actually remembered me so that was awesome...he is such a nice guy! So we went inside the venue, found our seats and the show was beautiful! I can not tell you how much I love "Please don't Tell her"...so when Jason and Toca announced that they were singing their last song I got up and practically rushed to the lobby and when I didn't see anyone else there I just figured I would have a better chance of meeting him out back where we parked b/c he and Toca would more than likely go to his bus afterward...I have to admit, leaving a song early was such a great thing b/c he came outside within ten minutes of his shows end! I could not believe it....there were two other girls waiting with us and as Jason was walking towards us I asked him if he would sign my CD's...and he said "sure I will be right back okay" and went into his bus for a few....He came back out and then Toca came next. Jason signed my WFMRTK and LIVE ALBUM and of course my "ISLE OF MRAZ" shirt! I was so excited...he wrote "Megan, So rad you are" on my Live CD, and "Megan Rules...Duh" on WFMRTK! I actually snuck a disposable camera in the venue...but was afraid to take pics during the show... But thank the lord I met Jason and Toca outside where there was no camera policy. He took a pic with me and then I asked him to take another one with me just in case and he said "of course, I realize how important picture insurance is" And he gave me a hug before I left...I was sooo excited! Toca was awesome enough to talk to my mom on the phone and then of course Jason also said hi to my mom b/c she wasn't able to make it out. They are both absolute sweethearts! Jason also asked if I was going to check out the Alanis portion. But of course I was there to see him and toca. Well I think that about sums up last night--I was completely psyhed and I still can't believe that I met him finally!! I unfortunately didnt take a digital camera b/c the one we have is a beast and wouldnt have been able to take it in...so I have to get the pics developed....

(PICTURES ARE ON "VIEW MORE PICS" PAGE)

I also want to say that to all the future goers of this Jason/Toca tour--It was soo worth it and I hope you all have a great time...
