Special Guest Blogger: The Prince
Are you shiny or fuzzy? Well, mr_oni's a bit fuzzy. He's also sensitive about it, so I'm getting him the psychedelic shirt. Checkout the new and old Katamari Damacy t-shirts at Panic Goods, the official purveyor of His Majesty's t-shirts. They are stately shirts; lightweight yet lofty and soft with a benevolent cut. The King says that you will not be disappointed. They also make much appreciated gifts. The Queen made the King cookies and then ..... I don't know what they were doing but it must have been impressive in scale and splendor. The King said he doesn't know what I'm talking about. The Prince is currently listening to: MX-80 Sound I Walk Among Them, Someday You'll Be King, Follow That Car.

mr_oni here, So, a decade or so ago mr_oni's cherished record collection was damaged beyond salvation and I haven't been able to buy much vinyl since; it's tramatic as well as being heavy when one moves. However, I still hope to find many lost treasures on CD. This week I found two, but I'll tell of just one. Arkansaw Man. They were a San Francisco punk band from 81/82. They sounded like a mix of: NYC's minimalist funky ESG, Tripod Jimmy's ho hum humor, and Pell Mell's Rhyming Guitars layered with riffs from Blurt. Fun, funny, funky. Well, go check them out for yourself at Table Of The ElementsArkansaw Man (TOE-CD-805)

Zoobombs have a Canadian tour starting in March. If you are not in Canada you should still go to their site and listen to the Ray Daviesesque, Star Child....ohh boy. And if you are in Toronto, you can see the Zoobombs on the 8th, Japan Nite (well... the Emeralds, and HY) on the 9th, and Zoobombs again on the 10th. ...Good Good Future. mr_oni

Oniyomi Nikki (Devil Wife Diary) is a very funny Japanese Dorama (soap opera). It is about a man who starts a blog about his difficult wife. Big trouble ahead! Ahhh, I don't want to say too much but Oniyome is not the only crazy one. I hope Oniyome becomes good therapy for everyone. mr_oni fell for the office girl... cute and psycho... danger! Ohh and poor Yuki, a pure romantic beauty, but a woman who lost to meat, soo sad. It is very, very funny and the actors are so good. I can't wait to see episode 4. It is a fan sub version (there isn't an English release) and the first 3 of 11 episodes are done (about one every two months). You will need a torrent program to download it. Here is the start of the thread where you can find the first episode (Domestic Yakiniku Hell). If the first episode is taking forever to download, it is ok to watch the later episodes. mr_oni

Snoozy uploaded the Japan Nite 2007 Sampler. Thanks Audrey Benten! There are about 11 hours of music playing, and for March we will narrow it down to Japan Nite and SXSW bands. It will be a nicely crafted showcase I think. Oh, and snoozychoc dropped off tickets for the Boston show the other night. He gave me ticket number 007! Too cool, I don't deserve such a good freind, even if I am 007. mr_Oni07

Hi, mr_oni here. Radio Fighto was started in 2004 as a way for people to find out about Japanese Rock. My friends and I had been interested in it for about fifteen years, I think Shonen Knife, 5.6.7.8's, and the Boredoms were how we started. When I finally got a computer I thought there would be so much on the web. But there wasn't, I think there was only one English page on Judy and Mary, and it took like a day to load. There was Paul Wheeler's Rock of Japan, Sister/Benten had just put up a web site, and I also found an internet radio station called Challenging Sushi, that played very interesting non-pop. I wanted to do a radio show too, but the internet was sooo slow. One day in 2004 I was looking on indiesmusic for new bands, still a lot of work! I had loads of music and my roommate snoozychoc had a lot too... I remembered Challenging Sushi and an hour later Radio Fighto was broadcasting. i-tunes, last fm, and myspace are making it very easy to discover bands and make freinds. But snoozychoc and I still have boxes of CDs so I think we'll be around for awhile longer.
