2 -Well, despite OBEISANCE is (although it is unbelievable!) entirely unknown for most of the Costa Rican Metal Heads I guess it's a bit necessary to go back in time and speak a bit about your past. You've been around since 1992 but as for you, I guess you leaved the band once and later rejoined at it in 2002. Why did you leave the band in first place and what did make you to get back into it once more?
the Evil Onit - i quit for very stupid reasons. A tour was comming up and i could not leave to tour so i quit. This was my decision. I came back because this is where i belong.
3 - After all those past years, how do you see the band today? What would you say are the most rewarding aspects of being involved in OBEISANCE?
the Evil Onit - First of all , I really enjoy our musik , but the greatest reward is slaying the crowds in a live setting!!
M vfq- The band is a much better unit today with the evil onit , d. crazy and me! It is very rewarding to write unholy music and to perform it in front of rabid luciferian infernal metal maniacs!!!! Maybe we can come to Costa Rica soon for some friday and saturday shows?!?!
4-You've been within the Metal scene since the late 70's and it's been a quite long ride, isn't it? So I guess you have a whole perspective of the METAL evolution so far. What did attracted to metal in first place and what would you say is the main reasons why you still are involved in it? By the way dude, how old are you?
the Evil Onit - I am 39 years old brother. Yes it has been a long ride and it is not over yet! The agression of the musik is what attracted me. I grew up in a large family of musik lovers. My mom was the second youngest of 9 kids and musik was always playing in my house. All my aunts and uncles varied in age so there were fans of all musik styles. From blues and big band from the 40's and 50's. be-bop jazz and do-wop oldies of the 50's and 60's. Psychedelic rock and reggae and mariachi musik. all was played as i was growing up in the 70's, but what caught my attention was the aggression of Blue Cheer, the MC5 and Black Sabbath, then Thin Lizzy, Motorhead, Judas Priest and then Iron Maiden. These were played by my mothers little brother and I was hooked!. It just kept progressing from there. I am proud of the age I am now. I fully understand where we are in metal today and how we arrived here. I have lived the evolution! I am still involved because i have no choice! Why do you eat, or sleep or even breath? Because you have to, correct? Well METAL is sustenance for me. I need it to survive!
Martin vfq- I'm 36 years old and the ride shall continue till the day I die ! The violence heaviness and aggression is what attracted me to Metal and here I remain!!! Metal especially the black thrash kind nurtures my dark soul!!!
5-Now, what would you say is the worst thing METAL has experienced so far since you started listening to it? Why do you think METAL represents so much to us, the heavy metal maniacs? There's a force within METAL that differ it from other musical style, which would you say is that force?
the Evil Onit - Nothing bad has happened to metal. trends come and go but i do not partake in this so i am not affected. Some will tell you fans come and go. This is not true. If you once listened to metal and one day in your adulthood you "outgrew" metal and stoped listening to it, you NEVER were a fan in the first place so fuck off, the underground does not need you! Again i do not associate with such subhumans so i am not affected. The idea of crap styles of metal comming and going does not bother me either. What bothers me is the media and ignorant listeners attaching the word "METAL" to non-metal styles! In the 80's when hair metal was big was i mad? No i wasnt, because i dont recognize this shit nor its listeners an being metal!!! In the early 90's when metal died and grunge took over was i mad? No, because metal didnt die! Assholes who really werent fans stoped listening to metal and started listeng to grunge and said metal was dying. Who the fuck are these people to think they are so important that if they stop listening to metal it is dead?!? FUCK them. When this (c)rap shit like korn and limp bisquit and nu shit like slipnot came out i didnt get mad. i just dont aknowledge it as metal and i dont associate with these subhuman listeners. I have always listened to metal. Metal has always been there for me, and since i make metal too i know metal will always be there as well.
Martin vfq- METAL NEVER FAILS YOU!!! Especially fuckin black thrash !!!! That to me is the force in Metal that keeps me there! EVERYONE FAILS YOU ! METAL DOES NOT! The worst thing I can think of is all these guys like quorthon and baloff and others dying while too many posers are still alive! Fuck!
6-I know the band had to take a hiatus of silence due to Martin's commitment with Texas Penal System. I don't know if it's too personal to ask you this but what the hell, can you tell us something about that? How long did take that hiatus?
Martin vfq- NO COMMENT. NO COMMENT "Infierno eterno"was recorded in 1996 and "Lucifer master" was recorded in dec 2001/jan2002 s you make the math my tico friend....
7-Martin is in fact the founding member and I guess main force behind OBEISANCE. Does he writes most of the material for the band or do the other members participate in composition process too? How difficult is for you to find a common ground to compose all together?
MVFQ- I write all the music, bring it to the band and they tell me if it works or not and then we arrange it and practice it . And the evil onit and I are on the same page with the bands we like, the evil that we worship.
8-Speaking about Martin, he is quite a character. I've been reading some of his statements in some interviews and as far as I can see he has a very solid opinion about how the scene should be. For instance the statement at the beginning of your website says "A knife to the Throat of corporate Glam Black Metal". Are you identified as well with the same attitude Martin has towards today's Black Metal? What would you say is the worst aspects of today Black Metal scene?
the Evil Onit - fuck corporate black metal indeed. the underground is where to be. this musik is true!!! However we do have bad aspects in the u.g. as well. Elitists make me sick!!! i have been in the u.g for over 25 years. i dont care about any body else except myself and my metal brothers. if you like me cool, if you dont i dont give a fuck!!! what we have in the undergroung are 25 year olds who play in bands and they determine who is true or not. if they deem you not true they will shun you! oooooh i.m fucking scared, i must pass the test of these black metal babies!!! I dont fucking think so!! these elitists can have their fucking clubs or circles or whatever the fuck they call them. Accept if you want . but dont come at me with your high horse and try to tell me if i am worthy or not, i know who the fuck i am!!!!!!!!!! i've payed my dues!
9-Controversy has always been a loyal companion for OBEISANCE. I was reading in Metal Archives that you guys were arrested by shooting photos in a beautiful Saturday morning at a graveyard. Can you share with us the whole fucking experience?
Mvfq- yeah 12 a m in the beautiful morning!! The witching hour!!!our old drummer megido and evil ont plus some of our crew decided to go into the cemetary for pics will I decided to park the van someplace else , well one of our crew who was with me spotted the police on the other side of the cem!! so we raced to the other side of the cem found our guys and got em in the van , but then the police arrived and ordered everyone out of the van . Only myself and the evil onit were arrested.
10-Seems to be that a video clip for "Concordia Cemetery Desecrations" will be filmed in the same location. Did you already start the filming of the video? How are you going to do to get the permission to access the cemetery again? Please, tell us a bit about the video concept?
Martin vfq- We have already shot the video for "Concordia cemetary desecrations" !!! And speaking of which WE ALMOST GOT SHOT BY THE EL PASO POLICE DEPARTMENT!! we got no permission (again!) so people called the police and they came at us with their guns ready to shoot!and that was outside the cemetary !!! Eventually we spoke with them and they didn't shoot us, they left,we shot a couple of more scenes and then the director Ian Munoz edited it in about 6 hours!!! it is shots of me singing at the cemetary plus some live stuff!!
11-I have read that most of your old stuff will be re-released by some independent labels. Why did you decide to re-release these materials? I know that "Hellbent on Slaughter" will be re-released as a MCD plus 6 brand news songs will be added. Can you tell us a bit about this release and the new songs that it will contain? Will "Infierno Eterno" contain bonus tracks as well?
MVFQ- None of the stuff that is to be released was ever released ! "Hellbent on Slaughter" is not a MCD it will be a full length with everything demos and live that not many have! Like our first demo 93 is for fans of noisy black metal like Revenge /Conqueror then of course there's rough versions of already known songs so get it !!!!! Infierno eterno will not have any bonus tracks.
12-In your music can be found influences that range from Thrash Metal to Death and Black Metal. Some of your influences are SARCOFAGO, SODOM, BLASPHEMY, and bands in the same vein. However I can say that OBEISANCE has a very personal way to celebrate chaos without become a "cloned" band. How do you do to maintain that classic feeling in your music yet sounding modern and brutal? Can we expect OBEISANCE using symphonic keyboards in the future? (Ja ja ja ja, just kidding man!)
the Evil Onit - The way i see our music is we are influenced i different ways by different specific bands, i see some song structures influence by oldies like HELLHAMMER, SODOM and BATHORY with the unrelenting savagery and chaos as BLASPHEMY and SARCOFAGO. I will swear to you right now brother that obeisance will NEVER have keyboards!! i matters not to me that Martin is the founding member and backbone of the band. If he ever wants to include keyboards into our musik i wont hesitate to KILL him and continue the band without him. I wouldnt quit because the band means to much to me!
13-As far as I know Martin and you are self taught when it comes to your instruments. How important is for a Metal musician to get into a music school? In the mean time, have you ever enter one or considered to do so?
the Evil Onit - I am self tought as is Martin. I believe the thought process that goes with learning musical notes pollutes the creativity and brutallity of true savage music. we play what we think sounds good, along the way we throw in what we have learned here and there. if you read musik and you go to compose musik you think to much and feel the need to include all the disiplines and techniques you have learned. Along the way the blasphemy and brutality is lost. It is not for me.
MVFQ- Not at all important for me man !! I can barely play my bass and I wish to keep it that way!! I think that as soon as you develop as a musician you start to be more interested in writing the most technical riff and lose the heaviness ! My example NOT TO FOLLOW is Chuck Schuldiner(RIP). He gave us some of the most brutal evil shit ever and as he progressed as a musician he lost the touch to make the brutal evilness he was known for!
14-Your riffs and music in general sounds primitive and according to Martin he will never do a technical riff. To me, METAL comes from the heart and it is stupid once you are composing a song asking yourself if it is a technical riff or not. What your feelings are about this?
the Evil Onit - How the fuck should i know? I can barely play my guitar. technicallity is something i dont like. i play RAW SATANIK METAL. you tell me brother where does techicality fit in RAW SATANIK METAL!?! I want crowds and listeners to hear and see our musik as a whole not me. I think jack-off guitarists have the mentality of "LOOK AT ME!!!". I have no ego. I just play my metal!!
MVFQ- Exactly my friend this is what I was trying to illustrate in the previous question you become a soulless jazzy robot and you lose on the evilness side , you know? I do not want that!!!!
15-"Unholy, Unwholesome and Evil" is your newest poisonous breed. I can see that you didn't record it with Daniel Corchado despite the cult alliance forged between him and the band for such a long period of time. Why did you decide to change the recording place? What kind of mood did you want to achieve by doing that?
the Evil Onit - Acually we would have recorded with Daniel had we had the budget. However i am quite pleased (except for the snare sound) with the recording. I like raw (yet audible) productions.
MVFQ- We are an underground blackthrash metal band firstly so we did not have the time or the money to take ourselves all the way to Chicago and the record co. did not have the budget to make that happen so we had to take the alternate route and record with CJ here in Hell paso. Daniel is still most definately our fuckin brother!!!
16-Your lyrical contents are quite forward indeed. What can you tell us about them? Are the rest of the band members identified with them? How important is for you the ideological frame for a band?
the Evil Onit - Martin writes all the lyrics. To me it is not important for us to have the same ideology in lyrics. Martin writes about the evil and the dark side of the world and in man. He touches on subjucts of war, genocide, occult and the like. A lot of his subjust matter is from actual historical events. Me, I prefer SATAN, SATAN, SATAN!!! Ideologically speaking, me and Martin have the same mindframe as to the direction and goals of the band, and this to me is, very important!
17-Through the years you've been loyal to your style but I wonder, do you think the band has evolved within the years? If so, what would you say are the most distinguish aspects the band has evolved?
the Evil Onit - Martins vox has slightly deepened with age.
18-There's always been a controversy of being trendy or not. If a band evolve from one style to another there's the possibility to be pointed as a poser motherfucker but if a band doesn't evolve there's also the risk to get stagnated. What your feelings are about this dispute? How can you stay loyal to your style without getting stagnated in it?
the Evil Onit - I hate the words "progress", "evolve" , "grow" and "mature", these are diguises for fucking trendy sell-outs! you MUST stay true to your style! If fans like you still, it's because they were fans of your style and remain fans of your style. If they say you have stagnated then they no longer like that style of musik and they are the trendy ones. i make musik for the people who listen to our style of musik and no one else. When a band i like changes i no longer listen to them, and when a band i like stays the same after numerouse albums i am glad as their style is why i liked them in the first place!
19-You guys do gigs quite often. Have you ever planned to do something through Central America? What are the best aspects of playing live for you?
the Evil Onit - As far as i am concerned we do not gig a lot. my choice is to gig more. i cannot explain the reason, but playing live is where i get my greatest satisfaction from the band. We really want to do Central and South America!!!
20-Is it true that one of your most beloved dreams is to play with CRADLE OF FILTH and hanging out with them dressed in black latex? (A joke question!)

the Evil Onit - it could never happen! I want to play with BATHORY, HELLHAMMER, BLASPHEMY and AUTOPSY!!!!!!!!!! however sharing the stage with Damon Bloodstorm(Bestial Warlust), Destroyer 666 and CELTIC FROST this year was fucking incredible!
22-Piracy is a phenomenon that is attacking to METAL bands and music in general. How does OBEISANCE to handle such a thing? Is there an end for this?
the Evil Onit - no end in sight. and as for us handling it!?! it is out of our control. Fuck it, i am guily as well. I download musik. But i also buy a lot of underground musik as well.
23-I know you guys are descendents from Latin-Americans. How is the life for you guys in a place like USA? Wasn't difficult for you to experience some kind of xenophobia after what occurred in the 9/11 terrorist attempts?
the Evil Onit - Fuck no! America is our country! Any type of racial profiling was against middle easterners.

4.Obeisance was founded in 1992 and since that time you have released

mart v f q- Now we are better at our instruments i would not call us musicians,but for example the cold waste from 93 sounds so fuckin noisy it s right up the alley of fans of Conqueror /Revenge.But due to production "Hellbent on slaughter" 94 sounds like black metal from that era, where as "Infierno Eterno" 96 66 sounds like a rough style of what would later come as our style on "Lucifer Master" 02/03. Now as we have a brand new line up our sound is as fresh as a newly dead previously possessed corpse, on unholy unw. & evil Look out for our new album "SataniK Shocktroops of doom" as we havea faster drummer than before!!!!!!!!!!

did this come to pass?Are you satisfied with their work so far?

the Evil Onit - Alhaz from Blackseed approached us requesting to hear some tracks we had recorded. the idea was to release a split so he only wanted about 20 minutes worth of music. we agreed and sent him all the songs we had recorded (a full length worth) and told him to pick out the 20 minutes he wanted to use. he liked all the music and changed the plan to a full length!
7.I've seen that you have played live a couple of times, even a small
tour. I guess you guys enjoy playing live? Am I right that you prefer
showing a good old metal "show"( i.e. banging, beer and booze) instead
of doing a fake clown show, like other well known bands do?
the Evil Onit - to me playing live (and the banging, beer and booze) is the best part of being in Obeisance. As for the other part of you question, I do not understand the "fake clown show" !?! sorry.

8. Which bands have you played with and how has the response been?Any

9. How about the U.S. underground in general. Could you name some
promising bands? Are you in contact with other bands? The slogan on
your homepage speaks for itself pretty much, but could you please give
a short comment concerning that?
the Evil Onit - The underground in the U.S. does not exist!! I am completely sick of the scene or lack there of. Deicide comes to town and 300 people show up at 20$ a person. Then some quality underground bands will come for 3 bands for 5$ and 10 people go. Venues dont want to support the underground because people dont go to the shows and they cant sell beer, so the fans like me suffer and dont get to see the bands i want because they cant afford to tour. I guess all these anti-human bands breed anti-human fans (or anti-band fans) and the fans dont go to the shows even if a band they like is in town.They are too black to go out to a show! This shit is stupid! I do believe a certain ideology goes along with the music in the underground, but the MUSIC is first and foremost the most important thing, stupid people tend to forget this. Some bands i support in the U.S. underground are Bone Awl, Morbosidad, Dagon, Misskarrage, Pyre, Embalmed, Nyogthaeblisz and some more established bands like Black Witchery, Thornspawn and Demoncy.
10."Apokalyptic Visions" really reminds me of Slayers "Angel of
Death"- coincidence or purpose? What are your favourite bands and
genres?
the Evil Onit - I listen to all styles of metal except this crap they call power metal i call it powerless metal because it is WEAK! But mostly i listen to bestial black/death and war metal like Sarcofago, Blasphemy, Bestial Warlust and the like.

the Evil Onit - I dont know this show of which you speak, but i am familiar with the term you used. I am originally from the state of California so i am still partial to that state. I really dont like this state. It has some good bands from the east part of the state, but you have to realize just how big the state is. We are the last city on the western part of the state and to go to al the other cities in the state it takes 10 to 14 hours driving, so bigger is not always better. As for President Bush, i support him. Not because he is from Texas but because he is my President. I am a member of the Republican party and i voted for him.

12. What is your attitude towards the USA in general? Are you
interested in politics?
the Evil Onit - My attitude of the U.S.A. is one of pride, i could even be considered what the rest of the world likes to call us, an "arrogant American", and proud of it! And I do follow politics.
M v f q- I love the USA!!!! it is not perfect but I have lived in and seen other places in the world and to us the USA is the best place to live in!!! Politics again: revolucion, socialism communism, nazism, theological governments, all of these DO NOT WORK!!! only capitalism is real and works!!!!!
13. What do you do for a living and what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
the Evil Onit - I am a Tool and Die Maker so when I am not playing metal I am working with metal!! In my spare time i listen to metal, drink beer and BBQ with my komrades while talking about metal!!

Hope everything is fine with the new album...
Martin Von Fah-Q : Sorry for the delay. This is why: we recorded "Unholy Unwholesome anr Evil" with a death metal drummer and got a death metal production in Feb. 2005. Many who heard it said it didnt dound like Obeisance including the label boss so now:

02. The name of the band was inspired by the name of a BATHORY
song, so I want to know how and when did you discover BATHORY, and what do you think about the musical evolution of Quorthon... Do you like an album like "Blood On Ice" for example?
Martin : No "Blood on Ice" for me! I heard of Bathory but was afraid of them because i was afraid of hell! Ha ha! Then I heard "Blood Fire Death" in '88 and there was no turning back!! HAIL BATHORY!! R.I.P. Quorthon! HAIL HAIL HAIL ETERNALLY!!
Evil Onit : I discovered Bathory in 1984. I only like the first four records. I like them in the order in which they were released. I accept the the evolution between the first two and the second two as i like those four albums as i said. i do not like the evolution that took place after this. i do not like "blood on ice"
03. What means the word "obeisance" for you. Do you beleive in
the existente of Satan? The Fallen Angel?
Martin : Yes! The Satan (adversary), Lucifer exists! The fallen angel and all his legions! Aaarrggh!!
Evil Onit : the word means "to bow in respect".
04. Do you think christinaty is still an enemy to attack in a
country like USA where I think it have lost a lot of credibility and support
compared to a more religious country like Mexico?
MARTIN : Fuck them! Who cares? Not me! I care about killing those idiotsWho ware dresses and want to pray to ALLAH. Fuck Bin Laden and the Ayatollas in Iran!
Evil Onit : what credibility are you speaking of? Christianity is dead everywhere. It will always exist in the world because unfortunately there will always be followers in the world. It poses no threat to me! I pay the weak minded followers no attention, they are not worth my attention.
05. What do you think about video clips and DVDs? Have you
seen any killer lately? Do you have plans for a OBEISANCE DVD? I know there are plans for a promo clip of the song 'Concordia Cemetary Dsecrations"...
MARTIN : They are great tool for spreading the darkness of Satan and Obeisance! We will make more videos a.s.a.p.! A DVD is in the future. Only for the maniax of Lucifer!!
06. How was the response of the "Lucifer Master" CD? Which killer zines and bands has supported the band so far? Recommend them to the readers....
MARTIN : Noise and Shit! I have not seen a bad reviewof L.M. really! See Live 4 Metal, Metal nightmare, Metal Vault, Nathan T. Birk of Metal Maniacs, Wormgear, Bestial Desekration, Metal Gospel, The Chasm, Infinitum Obscure, Thornspawn!
07. As your discography is a little confusing, please comment
every release of the band with a few words...
MARTIN : O.K. yeah sorry, here we go: "Hellbent on Slaughter" cd '94 (unreleased - out in 2006), "Infierno Eterno" cd '06 (unreleased - out in 2006), "Lucifer Master cd 2003(Utterly Somber '03/L.P. Merciless records Germany '04)
08. Tell how started the idea of the split with EQUITANT?
MARTIN : The old record boss thought it would be a good idea to have a split so I contacted Equitant and he said yes. He is a very cool yet very occult guy, Hail Equitant! But we broke with that record company so now "Hellbent..." was added trax and is now a full length. No more split with Equitant. Sorry!
09. Do you have any stuff to sell from your address?
MARTIN : Yes! Write us.

10. What do you think about the contribution of the Mexican
bands to the worldwide scene through the years?
ONIT : Some incredible bands have come from mexico. Some well known and some more obscure. I really like : Tormentor, Shub-Niggurath, (early) Cenotaph, The Chasm, Examime, DeathWarrant, Disgorge, Demonized/Domain, Ravager and Hacavitz, fuck you can almost call Impiety a mexican band now!
MARTIN : Raped God, Mortuary, Toxodeath, Ressurect and Deadly Dark.
11. What do you know about the chilean Metal scene?
MARTIN : PENTAGRAM!! Atomic Agressor, Sadism and Death Yell. It looks like you have agreat scene! Crazy maniax as fans!
12. What is your goal with the band? Do you have any dream you
want to reach? Do you have plans for the future appart of the band
activities?
ONIT : My goal is to play live everywhere.
MARTIN : Me too! If the law allows me to. Spread Satan and Obeisance everywhere! So thar everyone knows our name! LUCIFER MASTER!!
13. What about the old cult bands like INFERNAL DEATH, TORTURE
and NECROVORE? Do you know any of the members of these bands?
ONIT : I knew the Torture guys and saw them a bunch of times. I never knew the Infernal Death guys , but Martin did. Necrovore was from central Texas, and Texas is a fuckin huge state so i never knew them.
MARTIN : Infernal Death were wierd, obscure, occult guys. Torture are back but live in Oakland, California now. Necrovore I've never met but it seems they think they are the best band ever. They are not! They are excellent tough! There are other great Texas bands like Rigor Mortis and Gammacide!
14. How is life in Hell Paso? Is Texas too different from the other states of North America? What about the laws and the people? Is still like in the far west? What do you think about "guns control" laws?
MARTIN : I like Hell Paso. Texas is like a whole other country. It is not like the old west. Gun control laws suck!
ONIT : Life in Hell Paso fucking sucks. Texas is not to different than the rest of the states, but hell paso is. Hell Paso is west Texas away from the rest of the state. it sucks here. There are some good laws and some bad laws. If you want to change it you must get involved, or dont complain. No it is not like the far west anymore. Gun control laws may exist but true gun control will never exist. Some idiot will always manage to get his hands on a gun.
MARTIN : Onit exagerates about Hell Paso. He wants to live in a city where he can see the Oakland Raiders one day and the L.A. Lakers the next! I say fuck the Raiders. The Dallas Cowboys rule!!
15. Do you feel there is discrimination with the latin people?
What about your relationship with the afroamericans?
MARTIN : Not in Hell Paso which is 70% Mexican American. Blacks cry and bitch too much and if you anything is wrong like "rap sucks" you are thought a racist. I am not but fuck the all anyway!
Evil Onit : There is discrimination with all races. I dont generalize races. I have good and bad relationships with all races. The one race of people I truly hate is the race of stupid people. I dont give a fuck about color or race, if you are a stupid asshole, I hate you, if you are cool , I dont hate you.
16. How do you judge the evolution of the underground over the
past years?
MARTIN : The scene is too divided even within the black metal faction. What makes me laugh is little kids telling me what's true and whats not.HA! HA! HA! But still there are great bands nowadays: evil and dark!
ONIT : I dont have the time, energy or desire to deal with this "scene". I am in it. I play what I like and listen to what I like. If yo like what I play and agree with what I listen to then so be it. If you dont, I dont give a shit. I am not gointg to debate my metal beliefs with a bitch boy wearing big rapper pants , ski cap, and fishnet stockings on his arms. Fuck those fags!
17. On your website there is a stament that OBEISANCE is an attack to the corporate Black Metal.... Do you think bands like the new MAYHEM, EMPEROR, and SATYRICON also belongs to this group?
MARTIN : Yeah man, too many keyboards and Mayhem turned into Gayhem with the electronic techno bullshit on "A Grand..." cd but they are back now with "Chimera".

1 - Hails to the nuclear hell known as Obeisance!! I thank you for your time. Ok first off, give me a brief history on Obeisance. How did the band start off and where did the name, Obeisance, come from?
Martin - Born in April 1992, we got the name from Bathory's "Nocturnal Obeisance" and the first name we'd chosen Ceremonial, wellthere were too many bands with similar names so we had to go with master Quorthon for a name! Hails to Quorthon R.I.P. in Hades!
2 - Y'all guys have aroused the interest of Blackseed Productions which in turn led to them releasing Unholy, Unwholesome and Evil. How have they been treating the band so far?
Martin - They are an evil, quality label. Very hungry, as opposed to many jaded major/indie labels who are shadows of their former selves.
The Evil Onit - Blackseed Kicks ass. They are very supportive.
3 - Utterly Somber Creations have also annouced that they will release the 1996 "Infierno Eterno". How was this arranged and will there be any other old demos that shall see a release on vinyl or just regular format?
The Evil Onit - Desatrious Records will be releasing 1994's kult rekording "Hellbent on Slaughter" this will contain "In the Cold Waste" and "October Demise", the bands first two demos as bonus tracks! As far as vinyl, it is to early to know what format these releases will be issued in.
Martin - USC has always been a supporter of Obeisance. And he was the only one with balls to release this cult recording "Infierno Eterno", just like Desastrious. Evil, gutsy and integrity filled.
4 - Hearing Obeisance you would think that y'all guys came straight from the late eighties/early nineties, which y'all did!! haha How has the band kept that chemistry and formula for so many years? Passing trends and playing the same great, brutal, violent metal.
The Evil Onit - I am Gonna be 39 years old in Oktober so yes i have been around for sometime, and i dont plan on slowing down either. This fact relates to the passing trends directly! the way we keep going and the way we let the trends pass is we dont jump on em. trends come and go. we will always be here. when a trend dies the trendy bands dont know what to do without a fanbase and dissolve. I will always play my style! If nobody listens to it, i dont give a fuck! But I am not worried about this. My music is from the (black) heart and true metalheads feel this! I am a fan of extreme metal and i play music I like so I am konfident people will always respond positively. You cant always please everybody! I dont try. The people who dont like or understand us, like different shit. So be it, i dont need them. I have many band and fansbases that I support. And in return I get support from the TRUE metalheads that matter! As for maintaining the "formula", its really quite simple. Martin writes all the music and lyrics.
Martin - Yes I do.
5 - What bands have been a great influence on Obeisance? I can hear a great Hellhammer influence in songs like Infinitely Diabolic.
The Evil Onit - You got that right! For me, the classik bands naturally are my influences! I am emotionally moved and influenced by: Bathory's 1st two releases, Hellhammer (especially the demos), Possessed, Motorhead, (old) Sodom, (early) Sarcofago, Slayer (Fucking HELL AWAITS!!), (early) Sepultura, Bestial Warlust, Blasphemy etc. Some newer bands that move me are : Gospel of the Horns, Pentacle, Destroyer 666, Revenge, Abominator and too many more to mention.
Martin - Also (old) Exodus, (old) Morbid Angel, (early) Sacrifice, (early) Voivod, the first three Dark Angel's, the first Viking and the first four Darkthrones.
6 - Has your outlook changed on music and life in general since your beginning days in Obeisance to now?
The Evil Onit - This is kinda answered above. My outlook on music doesnt change. But obstacles are always there. You just have to avoid them like the (black) plague. Not that the Black Plague is a bad thing, well you know what i mean. From time to time our scene gets saturated with shit. I live my life with tunnel vision and i am proud of that. People call me narrow minded, FUCK em! I just avoid the shit like it doest even exist. I live in my own world, THE U.G.!!
Martin - We've each done the family thing. Weve seen the feminization of men in the U.S.A. on behalf of liberals & democrats. The idiotic rise of political correctness, the fucking cowardly facist muslims KILL 'EM ALL! And the fucked hip-hip-ization of metal. Fuck ski caps and lowriding pants and elitists!
7 - Recently, Obeisance performed at the Sacrifice of the Nazarene Child fest in June. I remember vivdly because I was in front headbanging to the chaos. How was that experience for the band?
The Evil Onit - There were some elitists there way up on their black metal high horses. But like I said earlier I have a unique ability to ignore shit. I have nothing to prove to anyone! I know who I am and I am Metal. Overall I had a fucking blast!!! Thanks to Alex for bringing it back. It was an honour to play it and I hope to play it again. Seeing and sharing the stage with such great bands was awesome and a fucking honour! Meeting really cool people from all over was great. For me personally meeting Damon and Andrew was awesome!! I am a massive fucking B.W. and Abominator fan! And thank you for headbanging!

8 - On stage, Obeisance goes full old school Ross Bay Cult out with sunglasses, spikes and gas masks. What can an audienece expect from an Obeisance show, visually and soundwise? And do y'all guys have any speical rituals before a show? Like drinking 5 beers, 10 minutes before a show.
The Evil Onit - Visually, expect kult extremity. and soundwise i will use adjectives not normally used for describing the audible, DIRTY and UGLY!!! As far as pre-show rituals, were you fucking spying on me?!? Yes 5 beers 10 minutes before. And one shot of vodka and one shot of Jager just 5 minutes before. And many beers during!
Martin - The ritual for me is on stage, giving our most violent and darkest to you!
9 - From Chicago to Mexico and back to Hell Paso, Obiesance is no stranger to touring. Where would you say has been the most memorable crowd?
Martin - The crowds in Mexico are fucking crazy! And the Chicago crowd is cool too!
The Evil Onit - For me Satan Tonio is awesome! after that right here in our own backyard. And i dont mean El Paso, I mean Juarez, Mexico!
10 - With more shows in Texas coming soon, what are your thoughts on the Texas metal scene so far? Do
you see metal becoming more apparent in the years to come?
The Evil Onit - You can't just generalize the texas Metal scene as a "TEXAS" scene because the scene you have is a different world than the scene I have and we're both in Texas. The east Texas scene you live in kicks ass. As far as things to come? Again I feel like I am repeating myself but as you know the metal scene has peaks and valleys. We were in a valley for a while but I see a peak coming. Some will tell you we had a peak when all this (un)Unique Leader type shit, jump, baggy short, ski cap crap surged a few years ago. This was no peak and it did nothing for metal. Metal will NEVER die. Some said it died in the early 90's and therfore they started listening to grunge. Then Why the fuck was I STILL listening to fucking metal all through this period? People change and this creates a shift in the scene. they dont want to admit they changed so they blame the dying scene to justify their departure from the scene. Fuck em! They were never metal to me and the scene is a better place without them. Its the quality of the fans not the quanTITy. Us true fans will always be here and I see a good resurgance on the horizon. East,Central and the valley of Texas is awesome right now. Great fucking scene. I thank your side of the state for opening up and inviting us into your scene!
Martin - Almost everyone in Hell Paso feels seperate from the rest of Texas. So for us to come play over there in any of your guys cities that are close to each otheris unbelievable to us and a great honor! Truly it is! Metal, especially Obeisance's is not for all and should be kept U.G.!
11 - Who is the main lyricist for the band or does all of the band contribute equally on that part? I know "Slaughter in the Holy Cities" was made just for those damn religious towelheads. Does Obeisance like to write songs based on more of the reality of death and chaos?
Martin - It is I who writes the lyrics. Well it's a combination of reality: "Satanic Hunt & Slaughter of Women in Juarez" is something thats going on right now in Juarez. "Rape of Nanking" is about a real massacre perpetuated by the Japanese on the Chinese in 1937. "Lord of the Killing Fields" is about the genocide that the communists in Cambodia perpetuated against their own people. Ha! Those stupid bleeding hearts wanted the U.S. to leave Indochina coz of the "genocide", Boo-Fucking-Hoo! It was worse after the U.S. left!! All these kids wanna be evil so they become Nazis. Communists are much more evil! Fuck Communism, fuck Nazism, and fuck Socialism. Only Capitalism is real! Anyway theres also the apocalyptic aspect like "Infinitely Diabolic", "Hellbent on Slaughter", and evil stories like "The Hound" and "Concordia Cemetery Desecrations" etc.
12 - Ok I have a request for a question from Naberus of the band Ancient Malus. He wanted to know if you, Evil Onit, think that the San Antonio Spurs are gonna take it all the way this year?
The Evil Onit - Oh so this interview takes a turn to PERSONAL! Thats cool. If he can handle the truth!?! Well the truth of the matter is without Tim Duncan The Spurs are SHIT!! And I hear he is transfering to the WNBA because he plays like a bitch and he's having an operation to allow this transfer. He will be Timmina Duncan. An futhermore you tell him to be his brothers keeper at the games when the LAKERS come to town! Since Thorn cut his hair, he might be mistaken for a basketball and Kobe might dunk him if they sit too close! just kidding, you tell those two metal brothers we'll see in June whos still standing!!

13 - So what does the unholy future hold for Obeisance? I will definitely be in attendence at the Destroyer 666 show in September. Will there be more touring in the winter or will y'all be working on a follow-up to Unholy, Unwholesome and Evil?
Martin - Look for the new full length "Satanik Shoktroops auf Doom" in late 2007. Look for"Infierno Eterno" on Utterly Somber Creations in Oct. 2006. We'll be in Houston and Dallas in September. EVIL ONIT : On Oct 31 we secured the services on D. Crazy : blasphemous battery butchery, so all things should start to move along again.
2. tell me about the story of obeisance and wich are your main musical influences.
MARTIN: Old Sodom, early Bathory, and fuckin Hellhammer but on the new cd we added some old death metal influences like repulsion-possessed-insanity(S.F.). We started in 92; demo 93, 94, "Hellbent on slaughter"cd94(unreleased), "Infierno Eterno" cd 96(unreleased), "Lucifer Master" cd2003, "Unholy unwholesome and evil" cd 05 (unreleased) . We are looking for a record label now so...
3. Martin explain me about your satanic point of view expressed in your music.
MARTIN: Lucifer/satan is the lord of this world,and that is that...there is much evil in this world done in the name of god but its all lucifer YEAH
4. Tell me about your album, Lucifer Master, wich is a great album of thrash/black metal, pure fucking agression to our ears.
MARTIN: ...YEAH thanx this is exactly what we were looking for with lucifer master and now with our new album we were looking for more ferocity and unholiness!!! People who have heard it have liked it and told us we did achieve this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5. How is life when Obeisance is resting, do you have other jobs or what?
MARTIN : no matter what others tell you NO ONE is a demon from hell we are human fucking beings so yeah we have jobs, evil onit works with metal as he is a tool and die maker I am a dispatcher and thats it!!!
ONIT : my rest time is spent drinking beer and listening to metal.
6. in your own words what is real black metal and what bands do you consider as real black metal acts???
MARTIN.: demonic feelings of death darkness and lucifer expressed in your music sounding like Old SODOM,Old BATHORY, HELLHAMMER, Darkthrone , Mayhem (De Mysteriis and back),Pyre(usa),goatsemen anal vomit hacavitz fucking thornspawn YEAH! etc music from hell for the apocalypse. 7. What you think about all those bands that are in this only for fame and money(you refer to all those band as corporate glam black metal)?
ONIT : These black metal ARTISTS belong to the elite race of stupid people, and i pay them no attention! They have their fan base of stupid followers, and i pay them no attention either. These are not fans of OBEISANCE, so it works out nice. The underground is MY world. They stay out of my world and I stay out of their world.
MARTIN : YEAH Dino Burguer and cradle of shit: too many fucking keyboard layers lush pretty that make girls swoon. WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK?!?!! HAIL LUCIFER!! NOT KEYBOARDS OR GOTH SHIT!!!!!!!but look now they are nothing but business men it seems like writing music for the goth "metal" masses and having to sell themselves in this fashion to be somewhat rich and famous but if thats what they want whatever man I only care about the underground and Fuckin OBEISANCE!!! FUCK emn let em go to heaven!!! NEXT fucking quetion!!!!!!!!!!
8. Do you have shows very often?
MARTIN: We used to play often in juarez but we haven t played there in a year but then we started playing in el paso but that's it, no more. We parted ways with our drummer and are moving on(GREAT!!!) and as soon as we get a new one we will play in Mexico soon and explore some new cities like albuquerque, phoenix, L.A. The Bay Area, etc.
ONIT : Not enough as far as i am concerned. My preferance is to play live as often as possible. anywhere that wants us to play, i want to play.
9. Have you made tours in others countries besides U.S.A?
MARTIN: in Mexico BUT WHAT A TOUR!!! WE WANT TO GO BACK TO MEXICO!!! Tijuana, Mexicali, Torreon, Monterrey,San Luis Potosi,Leon,Irapuato,DF.Morelia,gudalajara etc Bring us to your town to desecrate it aaaaaarrrrggghhhf!!!!!
10. How is the black metal scene in U.S.A?
EVIL ONIT : there's demoncy, embalmed, black witchery, thornspawn, morbosidad, pyre and bone awl. those are the only usa blackmetal bands that I give a fuck about!!!

MARTIN : They are great but for me. I have been ripped off too many times to be sending money to fanzines maybe I didn't hide the money well enough?anyway I am all for fanzines and will answerany and all fanzine interviews always!!! Evil onit and I are not rock stars!!!!!!!!!!
ONIT : I dont read books, so the only reading I do is Metal zines and the sportspage of the newspaper, so yes i like zines.

MARTIN : MAN WE WANT TO SEE THIS FUCKIN ALBUM RELEASED!!!! cuz we already have enough songs for our new album! We believe the album title describes it perfectly YEAAAARRRGGGHHF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ONIT : Actually the label boss Victor does not like the recording so we are going to re-record it in December. I am dissapointed because as I stated earlier, my main concern is playing live. Recording gets in the way of playing live.
15 Do you have problems with your guitar player Thy Unholy why he left the band?
MARTIN : we are still friends with him but at that time he disappeared and when we were almost done rehearsing for the unholy cd he sent us an e mail saying he was recording a cd with another band!! So what would any of you think about this? that he left obeisance right? and then when we had started to record U,U. & E. he calls me to see what obeisance was up to.. he s a good guy and we wish him the best!

MARTIN : "CALIGULA" is aboutthe crazy (possessed?) emperor of Rome, "ONLY DEATH RULES HERE"is about death the apocalypse nice things like that"CONCORDIA CEMETERY DESECRATIONS" about real life evil at a famous hell paso cemetary.Who did it was it us? no comment..."THE LAST DEVIL IN HELL" I originally wrote this song in 1985 most of the lyrics got lost and it was slower,but now reborn it is better! "DARK GARDENS OF ETERNAL WAR" an old demo 94 track remade retooled with some added lyrics and the main riffs changed a bit to make a better monster! "SATANIC HUNT AND SLAUGHTER OF WOMEN IN JUAREZ" it explains itself as the true evil of the darkness that currently engulfs Juarez is explored in this song! "SLAUGHTER IN THE HOLY CITIES" is about sheep inthe muslim religion fighting and killing other muslims in the name of allah fuck the ayatollahs of Iran and all smelly assholes who say islam is the only true religion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
