Current mood:  blissful
I am thrilled to have my looping music available for download and licensing on www.magnatune.com. Magnatune is a great web-based label with, get this, ideals. I know, it sounds like an oxymoron. Please check out their site, their philosophy and business model, and their other great artists. You do not have to fill in forms, they do not spam, you can listen to every full length track before you buy, and you can even name your price. Not bad at all. Their slogan is "We Are Not Evil".

Current mood:  relaxed
In the loopy news category, I just returned from a 3-day stint playing at the Y2K7 International Live-Looping Festival in Santa Cruz, CA. It was a pleasure and an honor to be associated with such a wonderful and diverse array of talented and creative musicians from all over the world. I'll get some photos from the event up on my page soon. A big giant THANK YOU to Rick Walker for organizing the event, everyone who worked to pull it off, and all audients. Here is the festival website, please check out these artists and their music:
www.y2kloopfest.com

I'm also honored to be included in this years prestigious Festival of New American Music (FeNAM), sponsored by Sacramento State University, National Endowment for the Arts, and the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commision. I'll be doing two live-looping demonstrations and concerts during the festival:
Monday, Nov. 5, 9:40 am at Foothill High School, and
Wed. Nov. 7, 11 am at Consumnes River College

Those are both a little early in the day for a Bohemian like myself, but we'll just hope for the best, eh?

CHEERS!

In case you might be wondering what gear I use to perform and record, I thought I would include a blog entry with a complete list:

Custom handcrafted steel-string acoustic guitar with L.R. Baggs I-Beam internal pickup built by Bryan Gardner 2004; L.R. Baggs ParaAcoustic D.I. preamp; FMR Audio RNC 1773 compressor; Line 6 DL4 stereo delay with expression pedal; Radial JX2 Switchbone Pro A/B/Y/ box (for stereo separation); (2) modified Ernie Ball volume pedals: (2) Oberheim Echoplex Digital Pro Plus units, both updated with Loop IV software by Aurisis; Lexicon PCM 60 reverb; Mackie 1202 VLZ Pro mixer; Tascam CD-RW900 CD recorder; D'Addario medium guage strings; big, thick-ass Jim Dunlop guitar picks; Ebow; and a truly obscene amount of audio cables.

Please note that my recordings are 100% live in the studio; there are no overdubs of any kind, nor is any quantizing employed. All sounds are produced on the acoustic guitar.

Please note further that this gear list occasionally evolves depending on what I'm trying to do musically at any given time. Many thanks to Creed Maggiora at Skips Music, Sacramento and Dave Lynch at Guitar Workshop, Sacramento for equipment assistance.
