I have been checking out new bands.  I am still unemployed but now live in Tampa.

Not too much else has been going on, like I said, going back to school in fall to get Pick Up Your Feet Studios and venue open!  Need to learn some business and some production technique.

And again, I am checking out new bands.  I have noticed since I moved, there really aren't that many smaller hardcore shows down here, and I want to change that.  Hardcore is not just about the bigger bands.  I mean yeah, Burden of a Day and Underoath spawned from the humid ass pit known as Tampa Bay, but seriously, not enough.

Found 2 bands I am interested in working with, but they don't know it yet.

Keep tuned

It has been a long time since I last logged in.  I have been working hard, I got married, and then went back to work and continued to work hard.  Everything was peachy and I was ready to start booking shows again as my life became more stable once again.  Just as this happened, I lost my job.  It put my dreams of starting up Pick Up Your Feet off again.  I have been unemployed since late November of 2008, and we all know with this job market, it is almost impossible to find anything.  Currently I am still looking for a job.  I am going to start my shows and promotion up again in full swing as soon as things go into full effect.

On another note, come next fall I will be moving.  It will be to a much more competitive market, much harder to make headway into the industry.  Still, I will be following my dreams.  Once again following up on everything, by including actual course studies into the field, including studio time, as well as audio engineering and business.  So I say this to the Tampa Bay scene, bring it on.  And Syracuse, I will never turn my back on you, I will work hard to help out my favorite local bands out still.  Maybe I'll even get you guys a small tour and head you guys down the east coast to Tampa, we can rock and show the world what it means to be from the 315.

So on this note, I say, this time I am more serious than ever, keep your eyes and ears open for me East Coast, I will come out of the woodwork to show you what good music is.  I will come from the shadows to support the bands that deserve it, that other people just are not giving the time of day.

Its time to Pick Up Your Feet and march with me, to a music revolution.

Even though we have been sleeping, and just sitting idle, we are still alive.  One mishap after another has happened.  I was brought down to florida for about 2 weeks in July to take care of some personal matters, and since then I have been struggling to find more means of income as well as hit up the dates with Forever Falls Through ( I am still sincerely sorry boys)

Rest assured, we have some new bands we are working with and trying to slide into some shows, as well as put on our first REAL show (as the june 24th show was changed hands, and turned out to be one big mess.)

Keep on the lookout for more updates, and bands, keep adding us!

The venue for the June 24th show will change.  The venue double booked and we got out-bought.  Forever the Sickest Kids and Farewell outdid us.  This is also the reason why Jessie is no longer with us.  Instead of helping us out, finding another venue, and then helping work the show, she decided to go to that show instead of showing her support, and that is just not looking nicely upon.

We are also currently booking a heavier show!  Let us know if you are interested in playing!

Our acoustic show is also in the process of being booked as well, let is know if you are interested in playing that as well, we have a couple more spots open!

Current mood:  tired

We are back, we are slowly working on getting things back together.  This blog will explain everything that is going on in the worker's lives who slave and work on Pick Up Your Feet to make it amazing, and something bigger down the road.

I am sad to say that we have pretty much lost Faith (not that this is going to succeed, but our tri-state rep.)  She just has not been around online, she lost internet and cell phone.  She did get in contact with me however about a week ago saying that she is still alive however, which is a good thing to know.

Nick and Kyle, aka, our Web Design department and Roadie/merch guy, have both started new jobs to start paying some stuff off that they owe various people and agencies (not the Mafia, I swear.)  This means that our web design program will be slowed down for a while until Nick learns how to cope with the job that is now taking up 33 of his daytime hours that he once had free.

Leslie, our services coordinator, is out on a leisure trip in London for a couple of weeks, and will not be back until late May.  This also will slow things down as a lot of services we do offer, are not necesarily done by people from within the group itself.  Which pretty much means, I am down a group service representative.

As for myself, I have also started a job, early morning shift (4am til 9am, Monday through Friday, for anyone who wants to know,) and am currently looking for a weekend job as well.  I wanted to take a job so early or overnight so that I can have time to work on this baby I like to call Pick Up Your Feet.  However that job alone will not make me enough money to pay off my debts before I really get PUYF rolling.

I just want everyone to be calm, and relax, and take a breath.  We will get around to doing all requests, we will get around to trying to book your band for a show this summer, we will try our best to accomodate you in every way possible.  Just please bare in mind that we are people, just like you struggling musicians out there, who want our help.  We also need other jobs to support our dreams, just as you do.

Once again we pride ourselves on providing as much service as we can for free currently.  Shall we charge you for something, it will be because of a lot of demand with tight time, or because quite simply we need to start making a little bit of money, so that you kids, and you bands, can start playing and seeing shows that you will love.

The show for the 24th of June is still on!

For the past 3 months, I (Chris) have done nothing but work hard on getting this little beast known as Pick Up Your Feet started.  I have come a long way since only having a myspace page with 10 links on it the first week we were running.  I have decided that I need to focus a little more on personal problems I have in life right now (I have an overwhelming debt, I have not been paid for designs, family and friend issues, that all need to be resolved.)  I have decided to take a small break from putting 200% into this, and bringing it down to about 100% for a while.  It is safe to say that the probability of the first show I was booking on the 24th of June, 2007, is cancelled.  This show was going to include The Dangerous Summer, The Morning Light, Forever Falls Through, and I was waiting for confirmation from Permanent ME, and planned on getting Honor Bright.  I am sad to say that I won't be working on this as much as I would like to for the next (insert disclosed amount of time here.)  When Pick Up Your Feet comes back in more the full swing again, look forward to amazing news, amazing shows, and amazing times.  I would like to clarify we are not shutting down our operations, we will still be merching shows, we will still be designing. However when it comes to putting on shows, and meeting the demand that we have had for designing merch, along side with our personal lives right now, it is not doable.  If somehow we had gotten paid, and not stiffed, for the designs and other services we have provided for bands, and should have gotten paid for, this break may not have been needed.

Once again, I am sorry for having to cancel that show, and I am sorry for needing to spend some time on personal things, when I would like nothing more than to dive into this endevour which has enthralled me day after day for the past 3 months.  It is safe to say when I am ready once again to pick up my feet even more, the dive, the splash, and the ripple effect will be even BIGGER than before.

Much love,

Chris

Faith came up from Jersey to get some business done before we headed up to Watertown to merch once again for Forever Falls Through.  When she arrived I had nothing but bad news of no merch designs being completed.  With a panic, we decided to put our bad art skills to work.  In any event, we ended up coming up with four sketches for merch by the time all was said and done.

We then headed over to M&T bank to open up an official bank account for Pick Up Your Feet, and we got a free piece of luggage, sweet ass.

We then headed up to Watertown to merch for Forever Falls Through, in which was easier to find than the last place (thanks again Dave.)  We met up with Brian and headed to the venue, checked it out, and waited for Mike to arrive with 90 percent of the equipment (as Brian had the guitars and tuners and stuch in his car already.)  Faith and I had taken the merch bin and other box of merch out of the van and brought it into the venue and set up the merch table (with a few touch-ups from Dave, thanks once again for reminding me about the free stickers.)

Once again what seemed to be a slow night, I believe we sold 3 cds and a shirt...and two pins (thanks Erin.)  We just kind of sat idoly and listened to some music and talked to very few people who came by.  Seriously, you all need to come talk to us while we're merching, we don't bite, atleast not hard, and it will atleast be in an erotic way, we promise.

We taped up the money box for the merch and took off, so that we wouldn't be too tired when we were done eating, and could atleast get a few hours of solid sleep before coming back to Liverpool, then sending Faith back off to Jersey.  When all was said and done, Denny's made me sick last night.

We arrived at Caz only to be checked in at about 11:45.  The lovely Dee didn't want to go with us to park the car (which was in the farthest spot of the entire parking lot, as it was the only one available,) as Faith and I walked back to her dorm.

Needless to say Faith passed right out (only having about 3 hours sleep from the night before, and having a long day, makes Jersey girls tired,) but Dee and I stayed up for a while.

Waking up 2 times throughout the night was no good.  Then waking up 30 minutes after we were supposed to be checked out (the RA wrote 7am on the parking pass) is not a good thing either.

Faith and I drove back to Liverpool, I showered, we drove to the bank, and got some money so she could have gas to get home.  The night before I had learned that Jersey kids are lazy fuckers, and don't pump their own gas, so I taught her how to pump her own gas.  I then went home and she drove away, back to Jersey, which she is probably about halfway done with.

Good time had by all in the end.  Next time, be sure to come talk to us and chill!  We're a good people.  Oh, and once again, thanks to Dave for the energy drinks and vault.

Sunday, April 08, 2007

Hey all, this is Chris posting an entry here.  We merched our first show for Forever Falls Through, and it was nothing less than amazing.

It started off by having to pick up my girlfriend Dee at Caz college so she can get home for eastet.  I ended up picking up Chad at about 1240 in the afternoon, then driving out to Caz to get her.  Stopping off for some snacks on the way (we got some powerade and Jalepeno Pringles and the Nice N Easy in Manlius), we drove up to Watertown so that Dee's mom could meet her and bring her up to Ogdensburg.

We ended up at the Watertown mall and just hung out.  Chad and I met up with our friend Diana and her sister and just hung out for a while.  Ate some pretty gnarly Wendy's as Chad was captivated by the motion machine sitting outfront of Deal Maker dealership.

Around 6 we headed over to the venue, obviously being confused because we had never been in the area before.  Dave finally directed us to the right place and we parked, and checked it out.  Chad obviously being the drunk he is, headed to the bar down the way, and opened up a tab.  We talked to the band for a little bit, and just chilled at the merch table.

In the midst of standing up to stretch, I was eagerly felt up, and later given the nic-name Supple because of my sweet man titties.  So if you ever see me merching at a show, be sure to call me Supple, and ask for a squeeze.

I think we sold about 4 cds, a shirt, and two pins, but it was fun.  When it came time to leave, that was the real fun.

We headed over to Denny's and ended up sitting near some girl and her 18th birthday party bash.  Although, I was convinced they couldn't have been over the age of 16, nevertheless, it was an 18th birthday party.  Fun time all around at Denny's.

The drive home sucked.  It took us about a half hour to drive 10 miles because of the shitty ass snow in April.  I think the snow plow guys were just being lazy, and whenever we would pass a salt and truck depot on the side of the highway, all of the trucks were running, just not out on the roads, all sorts of pissed Chad and I off.  By the time we got home (about an hour and 40 minutes later than we left Watertown, when it should have only been about an hour), it was about 3am, and needless to say, I crashed immediately (if you've ever driving for a half our or longer in white-out conditions, you'll understand how tiring it is and how stressful it can be.)

Bottom line, good time had by all.

Updates tomorrow as Faith, our tri-state representative comes up to help merch and such with Forever Falls Through once again!
